Black Friday Buddies 2009 Unite! SCORE REPORTS, WAIT STORIES, HAULS FOR DAY!!

I love Black Friday!!!! :lovestruc It's my second favorite holiday after Fat Tuesday - who doesn't love paczskis? :confused3 YUM! The fact that these two holidays are my favorite are sad, as my birthday is the 4th of July! :lmao:

I am SO excited to see a Black Friday thread on the DIS! My husband and I LOVE BF and actually are super excited about this year because we are currently in the process of adopting 3 kids (B9, B7 and G5). Our daughter is 12 so she's out of the "toy" stage, so we're excited about shopping for toys on BF again, instead of just electronics and clothes LOL! :woohoo:

It looks like Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo are dropping the prices of their gaming systems this year. The Wii (which is what DH and I are getting each other) is rumored to drop to 199.99 w/ the Sports game next week. There was a TRU ad leaked showing the price drop. I am sure that Walmart and Target will both follow suit-if not you can get a price match! :thumbsup2

any digital camera rumors? Im nuts but im gonna get in line at whatever store has them in our small town (walmart, shopko and kmart) Im skipping menards this year. Too much violence (but at least the RS was quick to respond)

Uhhh the first year I want a big ticket item. Last year all I wanted was a picture frame ($6 at walmart). I did go check out every other sale, just for giggles.

Last year was my first BF experiance. I did really well, I got gifts for my family that normally would be out of my price range, and they all loved them! I also got a $200 kitchen knife set for ME for only $40 (hey, if I'm getting up at 3 AM on my day off, I get to have something for ME, thank-you-very-much!).

I was pleasently surprised. All the crowds outside the stores prior to open were calm and friendly, and everyone walked quickly into the store at "rope drop" (to use a disney term) but again, everyone stayed calm, no pushing that I saw. The stores (Target and Kohl's) did their best to keep it organized, made sure plenty of carts were easily available, etc. Target was especially well organized, they handed out maps with all the BF items locations listed, they kept the line roped off to prevent line jumping, management went up and down the line answering questions, and they handed out little "shots" of pepermint mocha's from the Starbucks while we were waiting, which was great because it was pretty cold waiting in line.

I was home by 7 AM and had 90% of my Christmas shoping done. It was a really great experiance and I'm looking forward to it again this year! :goodvibes

RIPPED:

I do not have the sale ad, but I have confirmed with multiple Target employees that they will be opening at 5 am this year. This is the first time they have done this. They usually open at 6 am. So, I thought you might find it a hot tidbit. I am pretty sure you could get confirmation from anyone at Target. Locally in LA they have started having several stores stay open until 11pm on a daily basis as their normal hours, which means they will be open until 12am that night. The employees are none too thrilled....

Awesome....sounds like they're trying to compete with Wal-Mart by opening early. :thumbsup2 Hopefully there will be good sales available.

I love BF! Even though I usually buy very little, as I found I can find better deals online, I love the whole experience. Here we have to drive 45 min away to get to a town worth doing BF shopping, but we have it down to a science. We have so much fun, and those of us not really "shopping" help look for the must haves for others in our groups! Or just get the shopping cart and get in line :rotfl: This year will be no different as I already have bought most everything this for my daughters and my son will be getting a Wii if the deal is good enough, so, for me, its gonna be all about spending time with my friends and helping them out.

Sigh....I'll miss BF this year. But, I'm taking a cruise so yippee!!!! But I will live vicariously through you all (and might talk my SIL into adding a few things to her shopping list :hippie:)!

About the trampoline, check your homeowner's insurance, you may not want to go there....

Super walmart will be open ordinarily all nite, some folks will wander. They will bring out pallets wrapped in black plastic that you cant touch until 5 am....also a map of the doorbusters will usually be available at the door usually around 330 or so...
