BL 7.1 Green Team!!!

Sounds like you had a good time minus a little set back that one morning . You can make it through this week by making really good choices when you aren't doing your thing for Easter and your birthday. All other meals, really concentrate on your portions and types of food you are eating. Remember to get lots of water in too. You can do it!!!

Ah yes water. Thank you. Clothes, clothes. I do love clothes and good bargains...I think I can I think I can....

Hey y'all! I just realized we have seperate threads because.. I dunno. I guess I'm just a dork. LOL I was wondering why that thread seemed so dead after the previous one was so busy. LOL

So anyway, I found ya!
I hope I'm doing good for the green team. I lost just over 2lbs this week. :cool1:

Hope everyone is doing good with their WOE and feeling good.. so are ya? :)

To make everyone feel comfortable I am not going to change the COW for this week. We are going to continue it until next Friday so that everyone has a chance to work on it.

COW WEEK 1

THis week's COW starts on Sunday 3/29/09 and will run until midnight Thursday 4/9/09. It will be short this week since we just started. It will be an easy COW since we are all just getting restarted.

YOu get 1 point for each day you follow the COW

THis week will start easy

Drink 8 glasses of water (1 point for each day)
Eat 2 servings of veggies (1 point for each day)
East 2 pieces of fruit (1 point for each day)

On Friday send me

XX days drinking water
XX days eating 2 serving of veggies
XX days eating 2 pieces of fruit.

Thanks and enjoy the COW

Ps. I'm just now reading this and ofcourse that means on the 4th I only sent my weigh in- not all this info.
I'm unsure what the points mean- I'll try to read the thread more to understand. However if it's for points for the team against the purple team- I'm afraid I won't be able to help much (unless we get more points for more water? LOL Cause I drink about 16-18 glasses of water per day. LOL
I do eat the veggies per day- but I'm probably not following the same way of eating you all are and at the phase I am in my diet I cannot have 2 pieces of fruit ANY day- much less multiple days. I'm lowcarbing and having added fruit back into my diet just yet as from previous experience (when I lost 80lbs in 7mo in 2003) I know that any fruit starts me craving carbs (due to the natural sugar in fruits).
Sorry I can't do that part (yet) :(

Hi all!

I decided to join BL7.1 after all. I was dissapointed in my last experience, partly with progress, partly with something that got posted that didn't sit right with me. I wan't to give it another try though because it did help me remember to be more accountable.

Anyway, a little about me: I am a 35yr old mother to 3 teenagers; have been married to DH for 10 yrs (took me a couple of tries to get it right......... :rolleyes1) I work in a closed pharmacy that services correctional institutions and spend about 6 hrs of my day on my feet. I need to lose at least 30 lbs but should be going for 40-50 :scared: I lost almost 20 lbs a few yrs ago and kept it off for just about 2 yrs but life got the better of me and I regained it plus some. I am a long time member of the DISappearing Peeps here on the WISH board. I run an animal rescue and sanctuary out of my home and currently have a zoo. My children are homeschooled and are the light of my life most days. DH is retired due to medical issues. We purchased DVC last spring and are looking forward to our first stay. We have annual passes this year and will use them at least 4 times even though we live 1000 miles from WDW.

Various QotD:
My goal for this 6 weeks is to lose about 10 lbs and to actually be prepared to run a 5k. I haven't registered for one yet but I've been looking at a few. I am registered for a 60k walk at the end of Sept benefiting breast cancer care.

My work neither helps nor hinders my weight loss goals. I spend all day on my feet and a good bit of it is walking but it's not enough to be called exercise. We have at least one pitch in every month and our vendors provide meals occasionally. The bigger problem of my weight comes from not exercising and realy enjoying food.

I would love to stay at a monrail resort. I think the Poly is at the top of the list at the moment but I would also love to try GCV and Ko'Olina (the Hawaiian project) when they're open. My sister lives on Ohau and says the area is awesome!

My favorite rides are the ones I remember from my first Disney trip with my grandparents in the mid 70's. We drove from South Dakota to Ca and I remember going on IaSW, The Tiki Room, PotC and The CBJ. I do these almost every trip to WDW. We also ride The HM at least once, the last time we went, the plates had been moved in the banquet hall and I had to ask a cast member what happened. (You know you've been on the ride too much when you know the plates had been moved in the last two days....... :rotfl: )

We spend a lot of time in Japan in WS as DH insists on buying pearls everytime we go. I've been really lucky and gotten twins and one that is over 8mm. I have about 12 pearls I need to get set. I found a really cute carriage cage on eBay but it's plated white gold, not serling silver or 14K so I'm hesitant to buy it.

I am starting a garden this year. I was going to do containers on the patio but thanks to the Budget Board I found some raised bed ideas that I'm trying. We started seeds in the house but I think we did it too early and the plants aren't doing well at all. I'm not sure about canning anything but I have frozen produce I've purchased before.

Happy Easter Green Team. I hope everyone is having a great day!!!

I had a good day yesterday, did well on eating and getting my water in. I got to go see my new nephew for a few minutes yesterday and got some good pictures, he is such a cute baby. This morning I made a non-healthy breakfast treat for the family (it was Orange Coffee Cake recipe from Paula Deen) but it sure was good and a nice Easter treat. I'm getting my water in now and will be on track the rest of the day.

I hope everyone has a great day. I figured a lot of people won't be on today so we'll take a day off on the QOTD but they'll be back tomorrow.

mikamah – Glad to hear your washer is fixed, my oven is fixed too and only needed a $60 part and DH was able to replace it, yeah!!! :cool1: Will have to keep waiting for the double oven but it was nice to not have to hand out the $$ right now. Thanks, I’ve been working on losing since the end of August, it has been slow but that is OK. This is a lifestyle change for me not just another diet. I don’t want to put my body through this again.

donac – Glad to hear you got your fridge too, sounds like we all have our appliances back up and working. :thumbsup2

Miniefan – Love the positive sound from you, we all are going to hit bumps in the road but it is what we do with them that make the difference. We can let them keep us down and going down that road or we can get back into the right gear and head the other way which is what you sound like you are going to do. Have fun at the beach!!

lisah0711 – Those laundry mat memories are some you’ll have for life. I miss those dying egg days, think I’ll do some myself next year even if the kids don’t. ;)

tink1963 – Slow and steady is what wins the race, a pound is a great loss in a week and you are being consistent. Great job!!! :cheer2:

BibbidyBobbidyBoo – Sorry you missed us for a while but glad you are over here now. You had a great loss this week, keep up that great work! The COW’s are only an incentive for you, they don’t help or hurt our team, and they are just another tool to help you. You can participate in them or not, do part of them or the whole thing, just what works for you.:)

mousehouselover - Glad that you decided to join us and I hope things go better for you this round. Sounds like you have a busy life too. We love DVC and the annual passes are great!! Sounds like you’ve got a reasonable goal and I bet with your hard work, you’ll meet it. We’ve never done the pearls in Japan, may need to try that this trip.:thumbsup2

Hi everyone, and a big Hello to the newbies!!:welcome:

Happy Easter, I hope everyone had a great day doing what they love best. I am finally able to post again, my computer is on the fritz so bad the last few days, sometimes I just want to throw it out the window!! My cell phone already broke this week and I had to replace it so I can't afford a new computer too.

I totally ate bad, horribly horribly bad today, but man it sure did taste good!!:cloud9: Eater ham and chocolate bunnies only come once a year after all ;)

Back to the grind tomorrow!!

And to answer the QOTD yesterday- I really like the Norway pavilion in Epcot, I like the Maelstrom ride and all the little Trolls, I also like the perfume sold in the shop after the ride.

Have a great Monday everyone.

Kim

Hope everyone had a good day today.

I did pretty well for a holiday. I started with a 4 mile watp video, and a big healthy breakfast. Then we went to my sisters with lots of tempting foods, buffet style, but I fixed my plate with the healthier options and small tastes of the cheesy potatoes and lasagne, and sat down and ate slowly and enjoyed instead of just standing and chatting and mindlessly eating. Same thing with dessert, took a little bit of 2 things and a couple cookies, and sat and slowly enjoyed them. I did much better than I normally do on holidays. Also wrote everything down. I had a couple baileys' and coffees to end the day, with a few more cookies, but took points for them.

I was looking at old pictures with some of my family, and we would come across pic of us when we were so thin, and think why can't we be there now, but we also reallized we have also been much heavier- I was 30 pounds more at my high, and my bro and sis in law were each at least 20-30 pounds heavier in the past, and even though we aren't as thin as we were when we were 20, we are much healthier and more in control than we were a few years ago.

Miniefan- Glad you enjoyed your Easter. We were talking at ww yesterday, and one day off program is not a big deal, you can still see a loss, it's just letting that one day turn into two or three that gets us in trouble. I'm with you, right back on track now.

Tammy- glad your stove wasn't too expensive to fix. Congrats on your new nephew, and glad you enjoyed your breakfast coffee cake. Sounds like you had a great plan for the rest of the day.

Welcome mousehouselover and bibbidybobbidyboo!! This has been a very motivating and inspiring challenge. Everyone here is very supportive. We're all in this together!

I'm ready for bed. Have a good night.

happy monday morning teammies! and :welcome: to our newbies!

i am back after a long weekend in washingtonDC, a couple whirlwind days then Easter. i have not been doing well AT ALL! i have 3 weeks until the 1/2 marathon and i want to feel leaner and trimmer most definately! the first hurdle for me will be detoxing sugar ---

DD and I are going to Whole Foods this morning, and I will definately go to spinning this afternoon, hope to get a walk in there too somehow. i'm always gung-ho for a couple days.... :goodvibes

Blah doing awful. Up too late last night, husband needing to talk about A: co- worker they are firing, (way overdue in my opinion)
B: daughter leaving for the first time to live out of state. Ate too much yesterday, have leftover ham + a Hickory Farms ham I wasn't able to fit in the freezer I got a bargain on at work (1.88 a lb.) My mom gave me the leftover carrot cake I can't take to work because it's a Walmart cake, husband got me peeps, candy and a chocolate bunny I wont eat. Peeps and candy can go to work I guess. Did go for a walk yesterday with daughter who is leaving for New Mexico today (getting prepared for emotional eating) We are going to Nachos Wed. for my birthday for the free margarita (this is not negotiable). The good-- I already made 2 ham sandwiches to take to work for today and tomorrow, put away all my birthday stuff, Did successfully freeze one ham, and the other sliced ham I had in fridge (a whole 'nuther bargain) and hopefully husband will honor my request for another 3 month membership at the pool/rec center.

So you just grab a handful of the shredded wheat and munch down? I thought shredded wheat came as little bars you had to break apart? I guess it's been a while since I've had shredded wheat.

Yep, spoon size Shredded Wheat from the cereal isle at the grocery store. Nice and dry so it helps with the water consumption as well.

Bill

mikamah – Great job on having such great control yesterday, you should be very proud of yourself.:cool1:

ohMom – Glad you all had a great trip and it sounds like you are ready to get focused on what you need to do. There is time to work on things before your ½, you can do it, I’ve seen your strong willpower!!:cheer2:

50sjayne – Hang in there, you have a lot going on but just try to focus on a few things at a time and not try to do it all at one time. Sounds like you’ve got your lunches taken care of for two days so that is a plus, make sure to get plenty of water in too. Sending you pixie dust that you get your membership that you’re hoping for too.pixiedust:

BilltM – Will have to look into getting some shredded wheat at the store this week.:thumbsup2

I hope everyone is having a great day. I've been super busy and a little stressed but trying to stay focused so none of the stress eating will happen. I need to finish up our taxes, get packed for the stamping retreat this weekend, help dd with a yearbook project and a few other things too.

Not much time for the dis today but I am thinking of you and cheering you all on for a great week.

QOTD Monday - Have you finished and filed your taxes??

You know my answer, still working on them and trying to find every deduction I can;).

Have a great rest of the day everyone, stay focused and in control, you can do it!!!:cheer2:

 Hello fellow greenies.
I had a very nice weekend. For Easter we went to DBil's GF's house for brunch. Good food and Good friends. It was done buffet style, but she did have a few healthy choices. I did try very small servings of most things, and did a first plate that was fruit, so when I did have the other good, but not so healthy stuff, I was already on the satisfied side and really was not tempted to take larger servings. The Easter bunny did bring me a chocolate peanut butter egg from See's Candies, but the bunny was really smart in that he got the smallest egg they had available.

Monday's QOTD....Yes our taxes have been done for sometime now. I knew we were going to get refunds, both fed and state and being that we live in CA, I tried to beat the Gov. hold on refunds, but missed by a day. But we have received it now.

Hello, Greenies! Glad to hear that everyone made it through the big week-end.

I am suffering from a severe case of Mom guilt right now. I forgot to pack DS's lunch this morning. I figured it out when I dropped him off and told him I would bring his lunch at 11:40 a.m. -- he has been wanting this for a treat for awhile no anyway. Then I had court this morning and I spaced the lunch thing off. Fast forward to 11:50 a.m. when I get a call from a little voice "Mom? Did you forget me?" Wham! Mom guilt. I raced out the door and picked him up and took him to get some lunch. He was actually very understanding, although, he had been crying about it, he is only 9. I could have assuaged my Mom guilt by getting some lunch, too, (my healthy lunch was left half-cooked in the microwave) but I was strong so I guess that is good and I'm up to 5700 steps today -- yay!

QOTD Monday - Have you finished and filed your taxes??

I have not finished my taxes. The hard part, paying, is done, I got our stuff to the accountant late so it will be filed late. That happens sometimes.

Have a great day and keep up the good work!

tink1963 – Sounds like you did great with your eating on Easter, WTG!! :cool1:If I was going to be due a refund, I’m sure I would have been pushing to get them done but since I knew even after paying estimates we were going to owe, I’m not giving them the $ any early than necessary.;)

lisah0711 – :grouphug: Sorry you had so much mommy guilt but you know those things happen to all of us. I’m sure he enjoyed that special one on one lunch a lot more than he would have enjoyed something that you just dropped off. Sometimes there is a reason that things work out the way they do.

I hope everyone had a good day yesterday; it seems a little quiet on the thread so others must be super busy too. I managed to stay in control of the snacking yesterday even with the stress so I feel like I accomplished something.

QOTD – Which fireworks do you enjoy watching the most at Disney? (this may have been ask in the last BL – but the brain wasn’t coming up with much this morning:confused3)

I would have to say Illuminations over any of the rest. If we only catch one during a trip, we always make sure to catch that one. Love it especially during the Christmas time when they add an extra piece to the end.

Need to run and check a couple of other things before getting back to the number crunching. Have a great day everyone!!!:cheer2::cheer2:

QOTD...What fireworks do you like watching the most at Disney: Wishes! Oh, even the start of that music can make me tear up! When I watch Wishes, I feel like it's the compilation of all things Disney. It's emotional, exciting, memorable and makes me feel like hugging my kids.;) I just love it!

....getting prepared for emotional eating) We are going to Nachos Wed. for my birthday for the free margarita (this is not negotiable)......and hopefully husband will honor my request for another 3 month membership at the pool/rec center.

 but you have made the right decision to share with the team so we can support you! I think your strategy is realistic.....you are recognizing potential emotional eating, your being aware is a change in behavior, right? Hang up a note to ask yourself, "what am I going to eat that is worth more than my health?" and ENJOY your margarita, you planned it and can accomodate your eating before going out to stay OP or close. YOU CAN DO THIS!!! it's just food.....

QOTD: our taxes are done, we got refunds :goodvibes

today is DDs first day back to school since spring break started a week ago friday. whewie....i'm ready to get back to my routine. today i'm hitting the TM and then organizing for a garage sale I'm having in May.

what is your exercise plan today?

Good morning Green team!

Hope you're all having a great week. Last night, I had a run in with some goldfish graham crackers and ate almost the whole bag. Go figure. I don't know why I can be so motivated for days, and then all of a sudden just throw it all away. I was on track, all day and cooked some chicken on the grill for dinner and lunches, but then turned the tv on and bam, those bad habits. Oh well, back on track now.

Yest qotd- My brother works for an accountant and does my taxes for me. I get a good refund, so he did them in the beginning of feb, and I always have a little credit card balance built up over the holidays that I pay off, and put the rest away for summer camp, and if there's some left over, summer vacation. I like to get a refund, even though it's not the smartest money move, it works for me. I also do a Christmas club through work that pays out in october, which I usually use for a winter vacation. If anyone tried to figure out my money and bank accounts, they'd be baffled.

today's qotd- I love Wishes the best, and I always start to cry. It's so wonderful and brings up so many feelings and memories and reminds me how blessed I am.

Tammy- Nice job keeping in control. Stress eating is the hardest to control. They say exercise helps decrease stress, but during stressful times, I find it hard to get moving.

Lisa- :grouphug: sorry about your mom guilt. Like Tammy said, you are not alone, and it sounds like it worked out ok. Nice work on not eating too, and the walking!

Tink1963- Congrats on your easter, sounds like you did really well. A friend of mine always brings Sees candy back from california and it is soooo good. Your easter bunny sounds very supportive of your weight loss efforts.

50sjayne- hang in there.:flower3: It will get better, and it sounds like you have a good plan with the candy and food.

ohMom- welcome back and glad you had a great trip. I hear ya on the gung-ho for a couple days, and we need to remember to come here for support when it starts to get hard instead of heading into the pantry. Were here for you. We can all do it!!

Have a losing day team!!:cheer2:

Hi again~

Thank you for welcoming me into the group. I find this journey is so much easier when I have people to relate to and be accountable to. Since a lot of my eating is a social activity, I seem to do better when I share with others who are also trying to eat better and become healthier.

Tammy~ I'm always afraid we'll owe on our taxes. I don't blame you for not sending in the money any sooner than you have to.

Jayne~ Life has a way of hitting us hard sometimes and it's harder when you're trying not to revert to old habits. Stay strong!

Lisa~ We're all human and things slip our minds. Your DS was fed (and got a treat from the sounds of it) so he's no worse for the wear. In a while one of the other of you will be joking about the day you forgot his lunch.

Tink~ Good job! I started my lunch with a large salad and then ate the other stuff. I was full before my plate was empty!! It's a good feeling.

mikamah~ Those things happen sometimes. You are trying to break old habits. I read somewhere that it takes at least 2 weeks for a habit to form, some people take 4 weeks of longer of doing something every day for it to become a habit, so it's only natural that an old pattern of behavior will emerge when you let your guard down. Pick yourself up, dust off and say today will be a better day will be a better day. (And give the goldfish crackers away to help avoid temptation.:upsidedow) It sounds like you did really well for a holiday, and you took the points for the overindulgences. This is a long journey, and seeing success along the way will help you stay motivated. It's good that you have some 'before' pictures to show you that you are making progress.

ohMom~ Sounds like you had quite the spring break. I'd love to travel to DC and NYC sometime. It just seems like I'd have a hard time deciding what to do and where to go. Glad to see you're ready to get back on track. It's always hard to get back to this after being off for a few days. That's where I've failed in the past.

I did pretty well for Easter. DH made breakfast so it was eggs, sausage and croissants; we only do this on special occasions anymore, it used to be at least once a month. It was nice but I really didn't need it. I got candy for DH and the kids and a few things found their way to my mouth. It's not Easter without a few jelly beans, a Cadbury egg and peeps. That sounds like a lot but that was all teh Easter candy I had this year. I used to buy peeps and eggs from the time they came out in Feb and was a bit startled to realize that we hadn't bought any peeps and DH only had 2 or 3 eggs prior to this weekend. We went with a much lighter menu than on previous holidays. Instead of mashed potatos, dirt cake and other sweet salads, we had roasted new potatos, spring salad, asparagus and a coconut cake for desssert. Of course, we had ham and green bean casserole to round out the meal. I got on teh treadmill and walked/jogged 3 miles at the end of the day.

Qotd Mon~ My taxes were done back in Feb. Our refund is sitting in the savings account for our WDW trip next month. Dh and I have gone debt free (Thanks to my DMIL who left us the means to do so when she passed last fall.) so we didn't need to pay down our credit cards like we have previously.

QotD today~ Christmas WISHES!!! Hands down! We went to a PP&P last year and thos were great too but the Christmas one was the best.

We didn't have an appt with the trainer today but I still have to get some exercise before work, it's off to the treadmill for me......... I'll still be hitting the gym at lunch too.......

Thanks Tammy and Kathy for the kind words on the mom guilt thing. We were all telling DS stories last night about things our parents forgot -- we decided that you don't really remember all the times you parents got things right, you only remember when it went wrong!

QOTD – Which fireworks do you enjoy watching the most at Disney? (this may have been ask in the last BL – but the brain wasn’t coming up with much this morning)

It is a tie between Wishes and Illuminations. I also love the Christmas fireworks but I have only seem them at Disneyland and can't remember what they are called. I think they use the same music as the do at WDW.

I have a great fondness for the fireworks because they were my summer curfew when I grew up near Disneyland. I also liked them when I worked at Disneyland because it gave us five minutes to put the store back together!

I am looking out my window at the beautiful snowflakes falling from the sky. I assure you that they are not as beautiful as the snowflakes I saw in October since I have seen way too much of them this year! It's not supposed to stick so I am not going to worry about it. I am really looking forward to seeing my first hummingbird this season and they won't come until the snow leaves. Shoo, snow, shoo!

Have a great day Greenies!

Hey everyone,
I've just been struggling so much. Just yo-yoing is all I'm doing right now. I've been OP today though. Gotta keep this momentum going. One step at a time.
