BL 7.1 Green Team!!!

Good morning Green Team!

Hope that everyone is having a wonderful week-end, making good choices and keepin' things movin'. :goodvibes

I can do this! We can do this! :cheer2:

Yes we can! I think that your idea of visual reminders is a great one! Take it easy on yourself with your injuries -- baby steps.

And, to the rest of us, here's to better results next week!

We're keeping our fingers crossed for you that the scale swings back the other way this week. :cheer2:

We all can do this!! Have a great weekend everyone.

Reviewing your goals was a great way to get motivated. :yay:

It is so important for us all to remember that we are a team, we need to stick together and be there to support each other through thick and thin!

QOTD -- Have you ever worn a pedometer when you were at Disney? How far did you walk? Do you think that you would wear a pedometer on your next Disney trip?

Thanks to DS9 who came up with this question for us. I've got him wearing a pedometer, too.

I've never worn a pedometer on a Disney trip but will try when I go to DL in June. I also like to look at the maps on Google Earth and figure out how far things are at Disney. Or look for evidence that those hallways at Disney really do get longer at the end of the day! ;)

Have a great day!

I did on our last trip. ONe day we did over 25000 steps. ANd I am pretty sure that was a day we either took a break in the middle of the day or quit early because we didn't have a break. MY ankle was giving out on me during my last trip so we did not go from sun up to sun down because of it. If we didn't go back to the room to rest we came back about 5:30 or 6 and had dinner at the hotel and rested the rest of the night and watched the olympics. I know it was a waste of great disney time but it was the only way I could make the trip. DH was very understanding and would come back and stay with me. And the kids were old enough to go off by themselves.

I did on our last trip. One day we did over 25000 steps.

Wow, donac, that is amazing, especially when you were injured! Those injuries at Disney can be so frustrating. I had plantar faciitis the last two DL trips and it did put a damper on things. Glad you and DH could have some relaxing time together. :goodvibes

Since we seem to be a quiet group this week-end I will skip the QOTD for today. Enjoy some me time and time with your families today.

I wonder how Tammy's trip back and forth for the prom went yesterday.

Have a great day Green Team!

Hi gals (and guys if we have any!) Sorry I've been MIA. I was gone on a WDW trip for 12 nights and I gained a little last week. I'm back down again. I cant type much now because I just burned my finger on the oven and it hurts to type!

I wore a pedometer on one trip and was well over 20,000 steps each day. This trip I'd get up while my family was still in bed and walk around the boardwalk or into the back entrance of Epcot for extra exercise. Walk a beautiful walk!

Hello Green team.
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.
I've been busy, we went to a minor league baseball game yesterday, and my son's soccer clinic yest, game today, and met friends for dinner tonight, and I'm feeling not ready for our trip. We're leaving tuesday right after work and heading to my brothers for the night, and wed, we're off to new york city. Getting excited, and trying to organize and do some last minute planning. I won't be around, but will try and weighin early tues and send it to eeyore's butterfly before I go.

Dona and michele- wow! 20,000-25,000 steps is amazing. That must be at least one mickey bar.

Lisa- hope you had a nice day, and thanks for coaching this week.

If I have time, I'll check in tomorrow, but I might have to shut the computer off until I get everything done I need to do.

Have a great week everyone!

This is your weight keeper speaking! Ten people on your team have not weighed in. Several are on the verge of being removed from the challenge for failing to weigh in two weeks in a row. In order to remain active you either need to WI every week or at least send me a PM explaining telling me you can't so that I can mark you as excused. Let's try for 100% this week!

Warning...long post ahead:).

I am back in town, have read and gotten caught up with posts but I'm not going to try to go back and respond to each. Thank you so much lisah0711 for being our coach this week and for picking up a couple of extra days.

The weekend was a very busy one...we arrived at the retreat Thursday morning, rearranged some tables, got the vehicles unpacked and everything set up. I did get some cards made throughout the day and evening. Once Friday morning hit, I spent the better part of the weekend preparing for and having mini technique and project sessions so I didn't get as much done personally as I would have liked to. I do think everyone had a great time so that is what made it a great trip. It was probably one of our better ones with personalities, etc.

I did get a couple of really good walks in and they weren't just flat straight walks. Lots of hills and uneven paths but really got the heart pumping. I did fine with my eating, not one dessert did I pick up. I had them put smaller portions on my plate at every meal, I didn't pick up any bread and didn't have any soda or sweet tea. I drank lots of water over the weekend, had some very healthy salads and took my own healthy snacks (not many needed since the meals were so filling). I felt good about staying in control of my eating while away.

For WI this past week, I was up .5 but dealt with it and believe a good part of that was because of TOM.

I didn't end up driving back into town on Saturday. DD said it really wasn't necessary for this prom. She is only in 10th grade and technically wouldn't have been able to go if she wasn't a member of the Honor Society that was hosting. So, I did as she ask and didn't come back but was on the phone a good bit and they took lots of pictures. My cousin came and did her and her friend's hair which turned out great and the girls just had fun getting dressed up together. They had a great time too, I'll try to post a picture later today once I get them uploaded.

Sorry this one ended up being so long, just trying to get caught up.

Let's have a great week Green Team. Remember if you haven't sent in your weight to do it ASAP so we can get to 100% this week.

Have a great day everyone!!!

Good morning, Green Team!

I wore a pedometer on one trip and was well over 20,000 steps each day. This trip I'd get up while my family was still in bed and walk around the boardwalk or into the back entrance of Epcot for extra exercise. Walk a beautiful walk!

Glad that you had a great time on your trip and way to go doing all that extra walking!

You ladies wearing pedometers at Disney have really inspired me to give it a try in June.

. . . we're off to new york city. Getting excited, and trying to organize and do some last minute planning.

Have a great time in NYC this week, Kathy!

Wow, Tammy! You did a great job planning, executing your plan, and keeping positive! Great job! Glad you had a good time and it sounds like the prom thing worked out fine, too.

Please PM your weigh in info to Jessi ASAP. Let's get 100% participation this week.

QOTD What other goals do you have in your life that aren't health related? How will reaching your health goals help you with your other goals?

I have some big financial goals now, too. Like everyone we are making adjustments for the slow economy. I am thankful to be self-employed and have a relatively stable job. So just like I track every bite that goes into my mouth and every step that I take, I track what we are spending, where it is going, and trying to pay things off. Thank goodness for DVC that lets me keep my Disney travels! I think that being healthier will help me deal with the big and little travails that life throws my way.

Have a great day Greenies!

:welcome: back Tammy! i, too, am very impressed with how well you kept your goals for the weekend in check! WTG!

dona and Melanie -- how's it going? i hope you are feeling better about your goals, plan, etc and forgive yourself for those low moments. we ALL have them, you are human. i know that i could never be 100% 24/7 --- i'm just not that obsessive I guess. but for me, that's a good thing. you are here and that says ALOT for your commitment

OQTD -- nothing major right now, i guess i have some smaller personal goals that are hobby related -- finish this/that scrapbook, crochet a scarf, tink with my flower beds, etc. it is usually hard to choose to go do one of those activities (which makes no sense b/c i truly like them) but once I'm in the moment of enjoying that activity I am very proud of myself for choosing that instead of snacking/watching TV or :surfweb:

speaking of, lots to do today including a walk on the TM so I need to scoot! have a fantastic day OP today everyone

Hey. Well after a slow gain of about 3 pounds this week I think I am back on track. Believe me-- I was really feeling sorry for myself last night, wanting food but I didn't, so something worked. I'm just getting tired of all my food going bad too-- well not a lot has yet but I know it's sitting there in the fridge...I've got more than 100 hours of vacation to take by August so I think one thing I'll do for myself is take one more night off a week to help use it up. That won't be until June though when our closer is out of school.
Other goals. Well my focus is always doing things for animals, although I'm not up to volunteering right now after my last bad experience. I need to work on my own brood-- getting everyone up to date on shots and advantaging, cleaning litterboxes. Doesn't sound like a lot but with 13-- it is. I've put off immunizations because I know how to give shots and would save money that way, but I don't like doing it. I have researched and there are some pretty good clinics on the weekends at different places so I need to just find out schedules and start taking them in maybe 2 at a time. Some of them are current- I'd say 3. It's just been so controversial lately too, vets say a year, most conclusive research says 3 years, and some say they last 7 years. I'd rather be safe than sorry, but immunizations have been linked to tumours/cancer in cats.

Last week was ugly. Here to commit again. I keep saying that, but I know it will work eventually. I think this is the week. I can feel I have no choice but to get control. I feel I'm on the edge of blowing all my hard work or getting myself back on track. I know I have it in me, I just have to fight for it.

This morning all is on track. Gotta get sugar and yucky foods out of my system. Man does it make you feel horrible and so not worth the few mintues of goodness on your lips. Especially when the good stuff tastes just as good if not better.

Even my face is noticing and breaking out. YUCK!

Hi everyone Yes I am still here but it has been a very trying weekend that has put me in a very sad state.

On Friday my friend at school found out that her sister had died. She knew it was coming but it is still a shock. She had been very sick for about a month.

On Sunday I got a call from a close friend. Her husband had had a stroke on Friday. I have been friends with this girl since high school. She went to college with my husband and myself. We were with her the night she met her husband. They were married 6 weeks before we were. She has no one, no sisters or brothers and her parents are both gone. My family adopted her a couple of years ago. I still haven't called my parents or my younger son(he was an adopted uncle to my 2 sons). I think I will wait till I see how he is doing when dh and I go up to see him this afternoon.

He has been putting on weight for the last few years. Especially since his father died. He has been in denial about his health since then. His father died of a heart attack a few years ago. It is really hitting me hard. He delayed treatment so they could not give him the medication that helps cut down on the side effects of a stroke. You need to get it within a few hours of a stroke. I know I have to be there for her even if I don't want to see what this has done to him. He does have a brother and 2 sisters but there is nothing like old friends to help you out.

Then throw on top of that that grades are due this week and the kids are taking every day they can off. I am not a happy camper.

On the plus side I did get a walk in this morning and I walked a lot on cafeteria duty since my friend wasn't there for me to talk to and to help watch the cafeteria. I am now at 8500 steps and it is just after noon.

My big projects is to finish a couple of quilts that I have been putting off.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Kathy are you going to see any shows when you are NY? Mary Poppins is amazing if you get a chance to see it. MY sons are pushing to see Lion King but I would love to take my theater/set geek to see Mary Poppins. He would be amazed at the sets.

Have a great day everyone.

Greetings all!! I hope that you had a good weekend - and/or that you will be blessed with a recuperating and good week :)

Dona - I am so sorry about your friend's DH with the stroke--she is lucky to have a long term friend who's been through so much with her to be by her side at this difficult time.

Melanie - hope you can back away from that edge of blowing the hard work and fight to get back on track--coming here is a great step! And knowing that you are having a hard time actually helps everyone else--cause I doubt that this is easy for any of us ;)

Jayne - Wow! 13 cats! They are so lucky to have you taking care of them--one of my 2 followed me all around the yard this morning--and every time I'd stop he'd jump up on me and just nuzzle his head til I scratched him for awhile... they help make life fun. I enjoyed your trip report, by the way. :thumbsup2

Lisa - Thanks so much for all your encouraging words to everyone--for being our coach for a bit--you're a great example of how supportive this site can be :flower3:

Tammy - I'm glad it went well this weekend--even if you weren't able to get as much done personally as you wanted--I'm totally impressed on your food choices--way to go!!! :cheer2:

With me - I came here just now cause I wanted a break--I was bummed - and reading your posts just made me feel better--thanks so much!! I was outside for about 3 hours this morning--doing some deep watering, checking how things made it through the winter, fertilizing, etc. walking all over the yard--made it a point to wear my pedometer. I just came in, sat down and checked it--and had a whopping 19 steps - I almost cried--I was so looking forward to a nice good COW number and it said 19... so I guess it's not working or I'm wearing it wrong--agh!
But even if I can't know my exact number of steps--I'm trying to take more of them than I have been lately--so that's a 'step in the right direction'

QOTD - right now I am trying to help my mom fulfill a dream--she has always wanted to do the drive down the California Coast--so it looks like we are going to do that for the week after Mother's Day--taking a couple of days down the coast - seeing Gpa in San Diego and doing 2 days at DLR!!!!! We are going to get APs (with the Costco special) which means we'll go at least once more within the next year... So excited about that. Then she wants to drive back to Nevada up the Sacramento valley and go through Yosemite. A busy trip but one she has wanted to do for a long time--she retired this year so I figured it would be a good goal to help her with.

Well - back to work :laundy: . Have a great day!!
:) Liz

. . . but once I'm in the moment of enjoying that activity I am very proud of myself for choosing that instead of snacking/watching TV or :surfweb:

Good for you! And thanks for sharing a tip about how to redirect that snacking/tv eating! :thumbsup2

I've got more than 100 hours of vacation to take by August so I think one thing I'll do for myself is take one more night off a week to help use it up.

That's a great idea and you can spend some more time with your animals, too. :cloud9: And, don't be too hard on yourself because I saw your pics from DL and I think you are doing super!

I feel I'm on the edge of blowing all my hard work or getting myself back on track. I know I have it in me, I just have to fight for it.

You go, girl! You are worth the effort! :cheer2: I know that you have put a lot of thought and effort into figuring out what will work for you. That will payoff in the long run.

I am now at 8500 steps and it is just after noon.

Good job! :grouphug: Big hugs to you for all your troubles lately -- you are obviously a good friend that people can depend on. I like how you stick to plan even when things are going badly. I think that there is a special place in heaven for teachers who do so much for our kids.

But even if I can't know my exact number of steps--I'm trying to take more of them than I have been lately--so that's a 'step in the right direction'

Liz, you know that you are doing the right thing even if your pedometer isn't with the program! Your trip with your Mom sounds like a lot of fun -- I am sure it is something that you both with always remember.

I was happy to see so many of us checking in today. This is a great place to come when you need a little TLC on a Monday. :flower3:

Have a great evening everyone!

I'm fighting the urge for wanting something sweet. It's 8:21pm and I told myself the Kitchen is closed. Once my DS gets out of the shower I'm going in and brushing my teeth.

Day one back on track almost over. :)

Ok - I did Jillian Michaels 30 day shred, but didn't finish the 3rd part. Still having problems with my shoulder ( I can work through the knee problems I have- but the shoulder just really hurts). This has been over a year with no help from my Dr. even after multiple x-rays. I think I'm going to call and say I need a PT. Something has to give. This stinks and I really think this is why I put off exercising because I know it will hurt or I'm always afraid it will.

MelanieC -- If it's any consolation, I am right there with you! I was doing very well until I went on a cruise. That cruise was almost a month ago, and every week, heck, just about every day, I say I am going to get back on track. Well, so far TODAY IS THE DAY! I have been fighting those cravings for sweets, especially tonight! I know I have to get that junk out of my system and then the cravings will go away, but it is just sometimes so hard to do it!

I was just having doubts about making it through the day, but you have inspired me. We can do this together! After this, I am going to go take a nice, hot bubble bath. Then I may just go to bed at 9 p.m. instead of my normal 10:00 or 10:30 p.m. If I am sleeping, I won't be eating. Whatever it takes to get through today, I am going to make it. And tomorrow will be easier and by the weekend, I will be past those ugly cravings and back on track! That's the plan and I am sticking to it!!!

Good luck to you MelanieC and thanks for helping me through this night!

Sending out some :grouphug: to those who need it today. Remember that today is a new day and you can make the change. No, it won't be easy and yes, you may want to quit but you have to want this for yourself. No one can do it for you. Whatever the situation is, you can fight it and move forward. We are all worth it!!!:cool1:

I had a pretty productive day yesterday. Got lots done on the to-do list but still have a ways to go.

I spent a good part of the day going through Prom pictures. I'll include one here of DD.

DCP_1254.jpg

I did fine with eating yesterday, got lots of water in and did about 30 minutes of floor exercises. I got in 4200 steps yesterday too so hoping to continue increasing those this week.

I need to start making our packing list since we are leaving around 4am next Wednesday morning for WDW. Don't need to purchase much before we leave, just a few things so I want to get that done this week.

I missed a couple of QOTD...

QOTD What other goals do you have in your life that aren't health related? How will reaching your health goals help you with your other goals?

I want to finish cleaning and organizing the house. I know when I'm eating better and more active I have the energy to do so much more.

I did wear the pedometer some during our last trip in December but I can't remember the number of steps. Mine will be traveling with me next week so we'll see how many steps I get in. I'm also taking the scale with me. I don't deprive myself of the things I want while there but it does help keep me mindful of what I'm putting in my mouth.

I hope everyone has a great day, let's make each one count!!:cheer2::cheer2:

YOu guys did really well last night. Congrats on working through the problems last night.

Dh and I drove up to see our friends. It is difficult to see someone you love so much in pain but I am glad we went.

When we got home I had a glass of milk and 2 crackers. Then I took out my needlepoint and worked for an hour. It really relaxed me.

SHoulder problems are so difficult. I had one a few years ago that I thought was caused by picking up my calculus books. It was something else but PT really helped me a lot. WHen I think my shoulder is giving me problems I will take out the exercises and do them again for a few weeks. Good luck.

Have a great day everyone. I have lots to do with grades due on Thursday.

Dona-I'm sure your friends were thankful for you being there. The comfort of friends and family is something that is always appreciated when you need it the most.

I'm sure when you get those grades done you'll feel a big weight lifted as well.
