I had previously posted that my trip was feeling somewhat bittersweet before we went... My Dad passed away suddenly in March and he was supposed to go with us. I wanted to let you know that going to Disney with DH, DD, Mom, brother, SIL and DNiece was exactly what we needed (especially Mom)

We had our moments (many) of missing Dad but know that he would have wanted us to still go and to enjoy ourselves as much as possible. We went the week after Thanksgiving for 8 nights, ate way too much and laughed quite a bit but most of all Mom saw Disney through her 2 grand-daughters eyes! She also conquered (sort of) her fear of heights by riding Soarin TWICE! My DD is not tall enough for that ride and Mom said she will go again next year and take her on it.. By her saying she will go again next year really proved that she enjoyed herself and for that I am truly grateful...

Sounds like it was just what you needed. I am so happy it turned out positively for your family. I hope your mom does get to go again next year and take your daughter on Soarin'. :goodvibes

:grouphug: Glad it worked out as well as it did.

Good for you, I bet you all felt his presence throughout the trip. Glad you had a good time..

Oh, I'm so glad for all of you. :grouphug: I think we will all face something like that at some point, so hearing your words is encouraging. Thank you for sharing.

Sounds like a time of healing. Glad it worked out that way. Bless you and your family!:)

Thanks for sharring. My prayers are with you and your family. I count it a great blessing to still be able to walk around Disney with my parents. However, I am aware that one day one of them will be missing. Then sometime after that both. I'm making memories that will echo throughout my life at Disney. They will be bittersweet. But I am thankful for the opportunity to love them now and share the time we have left.

I often wondered if I would be able to return to Disney when that happens. You sharring your experience has made me feel better about it.

Blessings to you and yours. Glad you had a time of fun and rememberance, and maybe a little bit of healing.

It's sounds so cliche to say it but life does go on. My love of Disney came from my many trips with my parents, both gone now! By sharing the old stories and memories with my own son, my parents live on. You have your past memories and now new ones, it's good to hear that you all had a wonderful time even if bittersweet at times but most of all that your Mom did too! You're right, there's nothing like seeing Disney through the eyes of a child!

Thanks for the update!

Glad to hear the trip went well and lifted everyone's spirits.

We were in a similar situation last year. DW parents passed away within 3 days of one another (unrelated circumstances) 2 months before our 1st DVC trip.

We decided to go ahead with the trip and it was definitely a nice reprieve for everyone and exactly what DW needed.

We even purchased an add-on at BLT in honor of my father-in-law. Contemporary was his favorite resort.

Your trip experience is just one more example of "Disney Magic"!

So sorry to hear of your lose.

Back in 1998 my father past away after a long illness. One of the places he enjoyed going to was EPCOT, it was a place where he could take in some simple pleasures like people watching.

The day after his funeral we decided to spend the day at EPCOT, it was nice being somewhere that we knew he forgot about his pain for a little while and just enjoyed himself. To this day he enters my mind whenever i walk thru the front gates and look up the "ball". Its a good feeling.
