Biggest Loser "Sizzlin' Hot" Summer Challenge

Good morning all! :goodvibes

Here we are at the end of the first week of the challenge. This is always one of the busiest weeks but also one of the most fun. I hope that you all see your hard work reflected on the scale tomorrow, but if not, remember you are making progress every single day that you work on your goals. :hippie:

What do you need to do tomorrow?

Please PM your weight to our lovely weightkeeper, dvccruiser76.
Please PM your HH points to our lovely HH coach, CC.

Thank you, ladies, for all you do for us! :thanks:

My WOOHOO!!! is that my husband and I have started going back to the gym this week for the first time in 5 YEARS!!!!

That is a great woo hoo! :woohoo:

My biggest help and accomplishment this week has been to remain truthful on my tracking on myfitnesspal and to also have befriended some of you on there to have the additional encouragement. I am sure there are others on the challenge that are on map and all I can say is the more friends there the better. My name on map is olegrad95... So send a request with a note about the BL challenge!

You've been doing great on MFP this week, Christopher!

Rough week and rough day :(
I have been good about tracking what I eat and was down a little over 2 lbs this morning which was only my weekend gain but still I have at least lost that guess that is my WOO HOO moment of the week....have not worked out other than a few situps and some stretching every day as my lower back has been sore for some reason so most exercise has been bothering it....

todays menu has included chips/salsa, ice cream cone, McD yogurt parfait and a banana....not the best of choices but still under calories for the day...

am hoping I can get to catching up on the hundreds of posts you guys have accumulated!

Sorry for the rough week and day, Jen. :hug: Great job staying under calories. Don't worry about catching up -- just go forward from here.

I guess my WOO HOO is that I made my lunch everyday this week. We have so many yummy food choices in the shopping center where I work, but none of them are healty or smart ones. I have gotten up a little earlier and packed my lunch and taken my bagel for breakfast.

The next thing to work on is my water. I got 6 glasses in Monday, 4 yesterday, and only 2 so far today. The trend is going in the opposite direction of what I wanted.

Having the lunch thing down is a great :woohoo:. I need to take a page from your book and get my lunches down next week.

popping in to see how everyone is doing.

Hi Buffy! :wave2:

My woohoo would be drinking 8 glasses of water today. I am very happy about that. I want to increase it 8 while I'm at work and some before/after work though. But, like Lisa said, slowly is the name of the game! Thanks for the :hug:

:woohoo: on the water, CC. The nice thing about the slow weight loss is that it seems to stick better for me -- better than it ever has. :goodvibes

My whoohoo is that I decided to get back into running. It's been about 6 months and I want to do some 5ks (hopefully with DS9) and possible 10ks. I bought Jeff Galloway's 5k app and will be starting this weekend. I almost bought the 10k app, but I thought I'd start small. I feel like I'm in good shape since I spin, walk, and do circuit training. I'll see how it goes, but hopefully I'll be back to where I was soon. Has anyone used his app or running plan?

:woohoo: on the running, Jill. I am a BIG Galloway fan. I've used the 10k app and have following Galloway training plans for all 4 of my halfs. I went to running school last summer for a day and e-coach with him now. His plans really do work! :teeth:

:eek: WHAT??? :eek: We are supposed to have a Plan B??

:lmao: Baby steps!

What I did big was today. Our landlords where I work occasionally have special little things going on. Today was free sundaes - variety of ice creams, sauces and toppings. I had been planning to go...and people were talking about it and I started thinking about how well I have done this week, how my weight is going down...and I DID NOT get a sundae! And I have been super proud of myself all afternoon for letting it go. I have a little bit of ice cream at night for my treat - that'll do just fine. Last challenge someone said that a week from now you won't remember how it tasted, and it is only 5-10 minutes of pleasure - that goes right to your hips! I am so glad I talked myself out of it - especially since ice cream is my fav!

That is a BIG :woohoo:, Carol, resisting the siren's call of the sundae! :yay:

So far, so good; OP today. Now if I can finally get out of my office and to the gym I'll be feeling much better than yesterday! :cool1:

I hope everyone had a good Wednesday! :)

You, too, Alice! :goodvibes

BRB with the rest of my replies.

Darn those smilie police! :lmao:

QOTD Thursday, June 7, 2012: Is there something that you dream of doing just for you? If you feel comfortable, please share or just share how you feel at the end of the first week of the challenge.

Like several of you I would love to visit every single Disney park, too. :love:

My dream this year is to get my Coast-to-Coast medal in November when I do the Wine & Dine at Epcot. I injured my back after finishing the Tinker Bell. I'm all healed now but it was a wake up call to do whatever I could to get that medal this year because you never know what will happen. That is something I would regret if I didn't get to do it. :tink:

I am feeling great as we end the first week. Thanks to everyone for the motivation! I've been exercising OP, watching what I eat, and drinking my water. Grateful to share this journey with everyone!

The journey is always more fun with company for sure! :flower3:

We had our annual school luncheon yesterday. I have to say I was happy with myself. I did not load up my plate and I came out without feeling stuffed. I did not have a plate full of desserts. I had some but a small piece.

:woohoo: on staying OP at the school luncheon this year, Dona.

Thanks for your kind words about coaching. I'm looking forward to your coaching week -- it's always fun to get different perspectives. :goodvibes That is one of the best things about having more participants that we get to enjoy a whole range of coaches and coaching styles! :flower3:

I am feeling really good about my progress this week. I have a morning ritual of getting on the Wii Balance Board for a fitness check so I know how I am doing each morning.....sometimes it is good sometimes neutral and sometimes bad. I know many people discourage daily weigh-ins but I find the accountability of the morning activities helpful and then I also have an informed start to my day.

But the biggest thing that gets me through is this challenge. I know I say it frequently, but I do truly mean it. :thanks: So my dream for this week is a great weigh in for us all tomorrow!

That's a great dream, Christopher, thanks! :thanks:

I weigh in every day, too. It's something I've done all my life. I just know to keep my eyes on the trend and not worry about the ups and downs.

Happy Thursday morning friends! I'm working today, so I won't be able to pop on much, but I will have a bit of time while the students are in music this morning, so I will be back before lunch to catch up. TTYL.............P

Enjoy your classes today! :goodvibes

Mine is taking control of my eating at outside events. This is SO hard for me and I did great yesterday at my youngest son's graduation dinner from elementary school. I drank lots of water and had lots of the green salads that everyone brought. I need to keep this as my game plan as my oldest graduates today and there is a graduation party for one of the students right after.

That is a great :woohoo:, Fran!

For Me: RUN A DISNEY RACE!
For the week: Bummed that I did not get in the exercise I wanted to but I did track and am down on the scale so I will take that.

There is nothing as fun as a Disney race IMHO! :tink:

QOTD Thursday, June 7, 2012: Is there something that you dream of doing just for you? If you feel comfortable, please share or just share how you feel at the end of the first week of the challenge.

When I first read the question I automatically thought about running the Princess Half princess:! This is something I have wanted to do for a couple of years and was supposed to last year, but moving to LA got in the way. This year I WILL do it, as long as life doesn't get in the way! I'm also going to add the ultimate dream would be a complete around the world Disney trip! Every park and all ships, well as long as I don't get sea sick. :rotfl:

I am nervous about the weigh in tomorrow, as I know that my eating hasn't been great this week. But I have been getting all my water in :lmao:. Going to try a Zumba class tonight with a new "friend" on base tonight. I just hope I don't make a fool out of myself, since I am completely lacking in the rhythm department. :rolleyes1

The Tinker Bell is a fun race, too, and closer to you. :tink:

Don't worry about Zumba, everyone is working so hard they don't have the energy to criticize their fellow classmates! ;)

Thank you Lisa for this Quote and for the heads up for the QOTD, it really helped me plan out my quotes for the week.

Thank you Buffy for all the great quotes and for coordinating with me this week! :flower3:

I want to go with you!!! My DH and oldest DS have a plan to save up all our change during the next 4 yrs while he is in HS and then go to Europe for his graduation....IF (and that is a BIG if) we accomplish this...I want to do Disney Paris!!

That is so fun! :thumbsup2

Have a great day everyone!

Hello super supportive dissers! Haven't been able to get on the boards for a few days - we're leaving for Disney World at O dark thirty tomorrow morning! I've managed to get my exercise in everyday, and am a work in progress with my food choices ;)

I'll be hitting this challenge harder once we're home from Disney, but I've got a plan in place for while we're there, so I don't go whole hog and eat every Mickey on a Stick, Popcorn bucket, cupcake, and more that gets in my path while I'm there!

I know I missed a few questions of the day, but for today, Thursday:

Is there something you dream of doing just for YOU? YES! I have a fitness bucket list, and everything on there is just for ME. One of my biggest goals is to complete *ANY* 1/2 marathon, and then when I turn 40 (2 years from now), to earn my Disney Coast to Coast medal.

Thanks everyone that posts to this thread - I read them all, and you guys are awesome!

My woo hoo is that I now have three flights of stairs and a new standing workstation at my new office. My legs are not too happy but they will get with the program. :woohoo:

Anxious to hear more about the standing work station! Let me know how you are liking (or hating) it.

:eek: WHAT??? :eek: We are supposed to have a Plan B??

:rotfl: :lmao:

Making my own small pizza while the family has their own is not a bad idea. Could make it exactly how I like it!

That's what I always figure! DS likes cheese (actually, extra cheese and bacon if he can talk me into it!), DD likes cheese..... but I love lots of veggies. So by making it on my own at home, I can have EXACTLY what I want!

I always estimate on the high side as well. I use to squeeze out as much as I could, but WW did away with the partial points and only used whole numbers now. A change for the better in the long run. But estimate high, better to be safe than sorry.

I use half points. Over the years I have devised my own type of program with the Points. I'm sure that a strict WW leader would have some issues with my food journals, but I don't worry about it too much. I figure I am sometimes counting half points where I SHOULD be counting full points and some half points where I could be counting zero points.... so it all works out! And I do try to follow the screwy "WW math" where 1 + 1 doesn't always equal 2 (when having multiple servings of some things). And when eating calorically dense foods I try to always weigh/measure my portions. But when I'm eating something I didn't make or I'm unfamiliar with (like at someone's house or a restaurant), I try to estimate HIGH.

These will be his first AP classes, two this year. He was taking so much math and science that we kind of held back at first. He feels ready now. He will be busy tho, since he will be doing cross country in the fall and track in the spring - and they condition almost all year round, from July thru October and then November thru May. He runs on his own those two months they don't!

Sounds VERY MUCH like my DD! She took three AP classes this year and is taking another 3 next year. She swims year round for a club team too.... plus swims for her HS during the winter season. Busy, busy kids! But it keeps them organized and teaches great time management!

And Venus didn't work. We actually got in the car and headed north to try and get outside of the clouds, but couldn't make it. Saw it some online. So now he says he will live with good eyesight to 121 so he can see it again! :rotfl: Good for him! He is really into astronomy, so I hope I can get my telescope back in shape.

We were going to go looking for it as well, but had nothing but clouds to look at.

Love the idea for the recipe! Still am subscribed to the recipe thread.

I had lots of "yes" responses for a weekly recipe, so I'll start planning that for next week!

I'm afraid to enter it...do tell :)

Cloud cover won :headache:

Those day to day fluctuations used to drive me nutso. I finally figured out water weight and whatnot, and go with the flow a little bit more. I still weigh myself every morning, and scribble it in the corner of the calendar. If I follow each Friday down, it is usually a downward trend (when I'm OP).

And that is what is most important... and overall downward trend!

IWhat I did big was today. Our landlords where I work occasionally have special little things going on. Today was free sundaes - variety of ice creams, sauces and toppings. I had been planning to go...and people were talking about it and I started thinking about how well I have done this week, how my weight is going down...and I DID NOT get a sundae! GOOD FOR YOU!! I'm impressed!!

Off to get my stuff together for work - I might turn in a little early as well since it is so quiet around here. Get a good night's sleep, better to face tomorrow with.

Have a great night all!

Carol

Hope you got a great night's sleep! Hope the trip works out for you this summer.

So far, so good; OP today. Now if I can finally get out of my office and to the gym I'll be feeling much better than yesterday! :cool1:

I hope everyone had a good Wednesday! :)

Glad you are having a good week, despite the lack of gym time. I'm feeling the same way..... food has been good but exercise.... not so much.

QOTD Thursday, June 7, 2012: Is there something that you dream of doing just for you? If you feel comfortable, please share or just share how you feel at the end of the first week of the challenge.

I will be back tomorrow with replies. Have a great evening all!

Are you KIDDING ME with that SPECTACULAR picture!!?? That is absolutely unreal!!

Well.... I'd love to travel... a lot! But something is always in the way... usually a lack of funds. Plus DH isn't much of a traveler, so I don't see a lot of globe trotting in our retirement years, unless I can find friends to go with. I'd LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to take one more big family trip before DD graduates next year, but between swim, school, etc, I really do not know when we would fit it in.

Finishing up the first week of the challenge feeling a bit mixed.... had a great week food-wise, but exercise is still falling by the wayside. Need to work on that.

Good Thursday morning everyone.

It has been a crazy week but it is almost done. Today is the last official day of classes and then exams start tomorrow.

Happy Summer Vacation!!

Lisa thanks for coaching this week. I don't know if I can live up to standards you have set this week. YOu did a great job.

She did great and I'm sure you will too! She's obviously an over-achiever!:rotfl:

We had our annual school luncheon yesterday. I have to say I was happy with myself. I did not load up my plate and I came out without feeling stuffed. I did not have a plate full of desserts. I had some but a small piece.

GOOD JOB!

I found out yesterday that I am working for 5 weeks this summer doing AP prep classes for calculus. The money will help with getting ready for DW>.

WOOHOO for extra $$!!

MY dream is to make a lap quilt for each of my neices and nephews this summer. It will be a reach but there is a challenge. I don't want to buy fabric if I can help it. I have enough fabric to do them so I am hoping to use up my stash of fabric.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Nice summer dream! I'm sure you can make it a reality.

Thank you Lisa for this Quote and for the heads up for the QOTD, it really helped me plan out my quotes for the week.
****************************

Your quotes have been great this week! Thank you so much!!

I will respond to everything later, I am rushed to finish reading and eating breakfast. I am library mom today, so I'm taking the kindergarteners to the town library and we are swinging by for a Post office tour as well.

Then it's off to DS15 (exams start today so 1/2 days from here on out)

Good luck to him.... I'm sure he'll do great! DD is SO happy she doesn't have to take any finals!

Grocery store - Stop and Shop had a coupon for 300 gas points if you spend $50. I figure I can spend $50 easily on fresh produce. But the coupon expires today, so I need to use it!

One quick trip through the produce department will eat up that $50 in no time! Especially if you splurge on things like berries!

Up to the DR for DS10's script. I hate that I have to get a hard script every 30 days. It's an hour drive to the DR but I won't switch because I like him so much.

Hard to beat a doctor that you like and can depend on.

back down here to get kids

dinner

bowling banquet decorations - must do!!! The banquet is Sunday and I haven't started.

try to squeeze some kind of workout in. I have not worked out all week. My weight is down but I feel it could be better if I had worked out.

OK, gotta run!! I will be back later! Y'all have a fantabulous OP day!!!

You have a good day too! Have fun finding the bowling decorations!

*************

Okay.... caught up!!

After school time today will be a bit nutty. Just realized that DS needs a bit of a haircut before tomorrow's dance, so he will come here to my school at the end of the day. Then we will dash to pick up DD at the HS, fly into town to drop her at the Y, take him for a quick haircut, dash back to get DD, fly home and give her 20 minutes to change and primp before heading to the HS for awards night. And somewhere in there it might be nice to return the $200 worth of extra clothes that I bought for DS to try on! :eek: And I have three batches of photos waiting patiently for me at CVS.

Tomorrow night is the semi-formal. So far I am not scheduled to work, so I will have plenty of time to iron DS's new shirt and pants and pop to the florist to pick up the corsage and be sure that the camera is ready. If they call me to work I will have to figure out a way to squeeze in the ironing after school. It will all work out, I'm sure!

If I have time to pop back on at lunchtime, I will.....otherwise see you tomorrow!.....................P

qotd I'd love to run a disney race (like many others on here lol). Have to get my act together though and actually do a bit more exercise!
Just wanted to say thanks for the great questions and quotes this week:thumbsup2 Even though I may not have posted much I've loved reading along:)

Pamela I can't wait for your recipes to start! I'm making a low fat pasta dish for dinner tonight with quark in it instead of cream. Hopefully it tastes as good as it sounds-love pasta, so quick and easy to do!

Well, I have a lot of dreams. My short-term one right now is to apply for the Disney college program in January for Fall 2013 as a photopass photographer and work in WDW for 6 months. I'm a graphics, photography major so I think it'd definitely help.

I also really want to work for Disney in some kind of graphics/photography department. That is probably my ultimate dream.

A fitness dream? Probably complete a marathon. I just finished my first half and am so proud of myself, but I need to keep going. A Disney marathon would be even better!

:thanks:

Another go to the iPod and turn on the music......You have sent me to do that more than once this week:thumbsup2:cool1: I love this music and listen to it frequently.

Super dream/wish is an around the world Disney trip with visits to the Disney Parks in Anaheim, Orlando, Tokyo, Paris, Hong Kong, and Shanghai with stop off in Aulani and a Disney Crusie or 2 sandwhiched in there somehow........Ok there are dreams and then there are far-fetched dreams which I think this one seems to be. Oh well......gotta dream big right? That way when reaching for the big dreams you get some of the smaller dreams along the way.

So might as well throw in a few extras to the dream such as a night or two in the Castle Suite at Cinderella's Castle.......be the Grand Marshall for a parade down Main Street......sing with the Voices of Liberty.......I love dreaming don't you!!!

I am feeling really good about my progress this week. I have a morning ritual of getting on the Wii Balance Board for a fitness check so I know how I am doing each morning.....sometimes it is good sometimes neutral and sometimes bad. Christopher

That would be awesome! I am sure it's attainable, if you super-saved. ;)

Would love a night in the castle!

Just do what is right for you. I can't do daily weigh-ins but it motivates a lot of people so keep doing it!

For Me: RUN A DISNEY RACE!
For the week: Bummed that I did not get in the exercise I wanted to but I did track and am down on the scale so I will take that.

Working from home today:banana: so I can catch up on everyone here!!

A disney race is on my list of things to-do also!!

Ahhh!! I hate when I miss a day on here...time to play catch-up!

I do feel a bit like I've been on the wildest ride in the wilderness! I'm currently dog and house-sitting, and Saturday when this family gets back, I go right to another set of animals. This time a bird and guinea pig. All in a days work! But the things I've been doing to help me reach my goals is tracking my food and walking this dog-and he's such a cutie, too

I can hardly believe it's the end of the first week! I feel really good about things so far. One of my goals and dreams for myself is to become a CRNA and live near Disney World. The first thing I have to do to accomplish that is to become an RN, and I am currently getting all my ducks in a row to do that. Hopefully I'll be able to start in the spring of next year.

************
I was fortunate enough to have the morning off today (yay!) and need to get up off the couch and get my run on (boo!). I started watching this special on some true crime, and now I can't turn it off. I do think I'll have enough time to finish the show if I pack my gym bag during commercials, so that's the deal I'm making myself, lol. I missed my Tuesday run and have to do four miles (:scared1:) on Saturday to keep up with my training. I just keep thinking of the money I've already paid for registration and it keeps me going, haha!

You can do it! :banana:

Oh, tv is such a time sucker, but it is so good isn't it? It gets bad when there is a marathon of my favorite tv show.

I love traveling, even though it is just to Florida. I loved WDW because there are so many different people there that we never get to see in our small town in the midwest. Hope you get to travel soon!

Wow-ee, you are quite the busy lady, aren't you!? Have a great day!

Trina :hug::hug: You can PM me anytime.

Whew. Caught up, and that is just this morning! We have a lot of losers here don't we!? ;)

Well, yesterday was mostly spent on my butt editing disney photos but I managed to get 2 miles on the TM and lifted some weights so I'm feeling good. It's nice to get back on track. I'm very motivated. I counted calories already yesterday.

Today has been great. Slept in my nice comfy bed and a great breakfast. I am off work through Saturday so I'm spending my "relaxing" time getting this mess of a house cleaned up.

After being at Disney for so long I was immersed in Disney's belief that anything was possible. I finally got to see One Man's Dream movie at DHS and was so inspired. I've read Walt Disney books and watched movies but being there made a ton of diffeence. We took the keys to the kingdom tour which was great. I came back home so motivated to really chase my dreams. Both fitness and career related. I really need to learn more about photography and start trying new things to improve. I saw a lot of Nike drawstring bags with the "Just do it" on the back. I hadn't really ever thought about it, but it's true. You don't have to battle yourself everyday, just do it and it will be done. I spend way too much time thinking and not enough doing.

I spend a lot of time around negative Nancy's who always have a reason why someone can't do something and are never happy because they think life is just surviving and not living. Well, us here on the BL thread, don't think that way do we!?

Let's get out there and do stuff! :yay:

Now that this very philosophical and motivating post is over, please return to your regularly scheduled DISing. :rolleyes1:lmao:

Good morning all! :goodvibes

Here we are at the end of the first week of the challenge. This is always one of the busiest weeks but also one of the most fun. I hope that you all see your hard work reflected on the scale tomorrow, but if not, remember you are making progress every single day that you work on your goals. :hippie:

What do you need to do tomorrow?

Please PM your weight to our lovely weightkeeper, dvccruiser76.
Please PM your HH points to our lovely HH coach, CC.

I think that actually sending in my starting weight from last Friday might be a good spot to start, don't you??;) whoops!

:tink:

And I'm so very happy for you that you ARE going to do it and get your medal!

Have a great day everyone!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for setting the bar so high with your super QOTD and the amazing eye-catching graphics!

But could you have just one bite of a Mickey bar for me please?? I miss them so much. NOTHING on this planet says "Disney" to me quite like a cold Mickey bar in the hot sun while sitting on Main Street waiting for a parade.

GOod for you for going with a plan in place!!

Fitness bucket list??? :worship: LOVE that idea! I've been mentally working on a "50 by 50" list for myself (yes, that BIG birthday is looming on the horizon) and adding some FITNESS goals is a great idea!

qotd I'd love to run a disney race (like many others on here lol).

Gotta ask what "quark" is. I'm guessing some sort of plain yogurt??

I also have a light easy pasta recipe that I was thinking of putting up for one of the first weeks. We don't eat much pasta in my house because of DH's ongoing "low carb lifestyle" and I MISS having quick and easy dinners to pull from!

Well, I have a lot of dreams.

Just made me chuckle.... DD and I were singing the "I have a dream" song from Tangled on our way to school this morning. It's been stuck in my head all day!

DD is already dreaming about the DCP..... she follows a few blogs and such about it on Tumblr and elsewhere. Hope she can do it. Let us know how it goes! I'm excited to hear more.... and btw, can I have some photography lessons? I STINK.... which is tough as a scrapbooker!

A fitness dream? Probably complete a marathon. I just finished my first half and am so proud of myself, but I need to keep going. A Disney marathon would be even better!

I love traveling, even though it is just to Florida. I loved WDW because there are so many different people there that we never get to see in our small town in the midwest. Hope you get to travel soon!

Wow-ee, you are quite the busy lady, aren't you!? Have a great day!

Don't forget, partly I'm so busy because we live so far away from everything! A simple trip to the store to buy milk and eggs takes me an hour round trip, just for the driving! (Unless I stop at the little local Mom and Pop grocery... that I can do in 40 minutes! ;) )

Trina :hug::hug: You can PM me anytime.

----

Now that this very philosophical and motivating post is over, please return to your regularly scheduled DISing. :rolleyes1:lmao:

Thanks for reminding us that life is for LIVING!! Let's all get out there and DO instead of just DREAM! Dreams are great and we need to start with those.... but what are you doing to make those dreams come true???

*********************

Well.... I'm on my "lunch" break now, but by the time I use the bathroom, escort the kids to recess, etc, I'm lucky to get 12-15 minutes. oh well. This could likely be the last day I work for the school year. High school has 4 or 5 days left plus finals... middle and elementary I believe have 7 days.

Off to check the scrapping board while I still have a minute! TTYL.......P

Jill can you send me that list too please?

Sure thing! I'm sure I forgot people, but it's the best I could come up with lol.

QOTD Thursday, June 7, 2012: Is there something that you dream of doing just for you? If you feel comfortable, please share or just share how you feel at the end of the first week of the challenge.

I will be back tomorrow with replies. Have a great evening all!

First~thanks for being such a great coach this week!

Second~I, like many others, would love to do a Disney 1/2. I told DH last year that I was shooting for the Princess 1/2 in 2013, but I just don't think finances will allow :sad2:

At the end of this first week, I feel ok. I'm trying to get back to a more regular workout schedule and eating better. We'll see Sunday (ww weigh in day). I've been stuck at the same weight for a couple weeks, so I am hoping for a little loss.

I think the paint is colored corn starch (I "think" I read that somewhere.) Your husband it probably right. My main focus is to just finish it. And the paint is second. I am sure my 12 year old will be swimming in it. I have been thinking that I will need a blanket or something for us to sit on for the ride back.

I think I'll look into it more. And, yes, I think you'll definitely need something for the ride home!

WTG!!

Let me know what you pick for movies. I always struggle to find good family movies.

It's getting hard because DS6 is still into kids programs. He still likes watching Disney Junior and cartoon (G rated) movies. DS9 is getting out of those (although I notice when we watch a cartoon movie, he still likes it), but he's not old enough for PG yet. It is hard to find good family movies. We just saw Pirates Band of Misfits at our $3 theater and it was pretty cute. Both DSs liked it and it was age appropriate for them. I use IMDB to look up movies. They have a parental warning section and it will break down every concern a parent may have. I started using it to review movies to show my kids at school (I teach History and there are a ton of good History movies~a lot are rated R for violence...hello? It's World War 2! There was violence!). I'm going to be using the site for family movies this summer.

My boss and his family just did a Color Run this past weekend and he didn't even notice any "dust" or have any breathing issues. He showed us the before and after pics and said they have a ton of fun!!
These have been going on for a while know so I would guess that if it was something that caused any respiratory issues someone would have put a cabosh on the races a long time ago. Go For It!! I had wanted to do it but we were OOT for a baseball tournament all weekend....hopefully next year!

Cool! Thanks for sharing. It's always better to hear about things from someone with experience. I think I'll be talking to DH tonight about his "concerns" lol.

:woohoo: on the running, Jill. I am a BIG Galloway fan. I've used the 10k app and have following Galloway training plans for all 4 of my halfs. I went to running school last summer for a day and e-coach with him now. His plans really do work! :teeth:

That's pretty cool! Here's the only thing I don't understand/are worried about: do you run/walk during the races? I would rather run the whole thing, but I just want to know what you are supposed to do on race day (if you can let me know). I know he is the official coach for the runDisney events, so I thought I would try his plan. I think I'll be starting Sunday if I can't start tomorrow. I'm pretty excited. I'm even thinking of having DS9 do it with me. He's run 5ks before, but there's no rhyme or reason to his running/walking, so I thought it would be good for him, too. I'd appreciate any info you can spare :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well peeps, I have been cleaning and getting ready for my garage sale next weekend. Holy smokes! I knew I had a lot of boys clothes, but I didn't realize I have all the way back to 3T! DS6 wears size 6. I spent this morning organizing all the clothes by sizes. I hope some people in my area really need boys clothes! DSs have been helping me price things, and only 1 thing has been taken out of the sell piles. Of all things, DS9 wanted to keep a Thomas the Tank Engine movie. How funny! I have so many toys, house hold things, Halloween costumes, toys, bikes, a dog house, bookshelves, clothes, etc, etc. I just want everything out of my house. DSis is doing it with me. We always have so much fun. We try to have one each year, but skipped last year. This year we are having it at my mom's since she has more room and better parking. I called her today and told her to be expecting me to start bringing stuff over. It will take a lot of trips!
I'm going to get going and finish cleaning up before the in-laws arrive for a cookout. Have a great day!
Jill
Here we are at the end of our visit to the Happiest Place on Earth. The end of the first week of our challenge. :cool2: And my last little excerpt from a sparkpeople article. :goodvibes
Boldly explore your dreams
As we grow older, we reflect upon our lives--the things that we have done and the things we didn't do. Don't let this happen to you! What would you do if you knew you could not fail? Imagine the difference this could make in your life. Imagine how fearlessly you would march across the beach in your bathing suit! Break the habits of fear that are holding you back and forget the hundreds of distractions that seem to justify not trying new things! Achieve your dreams, take risks, build your vision and go boldly towards it.
QOTD Thursday, June 7, 2012: Is there something that you dream of doing just for you? If you feel comfortable, please share or just share how you feel at the end of the first week of the challenge.
I will be back tomorrow with replies. Have a great evening all!
Well I want to start by saying thank you so much to everyone for such a supportive first week . The something that I dream of doing just for me is to visit every Disney park and have plenty of time to enjoy them. There is nothing worse than being on vacation and being rushed to do things. Like many others I dream of doing one of the disney 5ks. I would like at one point in my life to be able to do all of them.
I feel great at the end of the first week, even if the scale does not show it. I have been at a plateu for about a month, but I know that without the support you have given me here this first week I would have just given up. I cannot say enough how much the support that I have received here has helped me this past week. So a big THANK YOU to all of my new friends. :flower3:
So many dreams:
Wear the shorts I have from when we lived in Hawaii
Run a Disney marathon
Walk the Camino de Santiago (500 mile trail through Spain)
be fit enough to walk the Camino de Santiago
Run a marathon at the Great Wall of China
Go to all the Disney parks
I'm sure there is more, but those are it for now.
Pamela oh, I'm not buying bowling decorations, I'm making them!! How did I get volunteered to do this???
**********************
I cheated today, I ate a candy bar. So now the kids are going to torture me with a 3 mile run on the green. Honestly all I really want to do is take a nap. LOL
YES!!! DH is done with his stupid phone calls today!!! Bout darn time!
QOTD Thursday, June 7, 2012: Is there something that you dream of doing just for you? If you feel comfortable, please share or just share how you feel at the end of the first week of the challenge.
This is my honest answer. No dreams right now. The ones I had (and there were a lot of them) were all smashed about 3 weeks ago when I found out fiance cheated on me. So no more him, just me and my kids. Now trying to find new dreams. Until then I am in the "just keep swimming" stage. I can be polite and say I exercise to be a healthy and more active mom with my kids, and it is true, but reality is I am here and working out, because I don't have any idea what to do now. So maybe by time I figure it out, I can be a bit healthier and look better.
I'm glad you were honest, that's so important on this journey.
Time to make new dreams with the kids and for yourself.
Praying for ya, hun, that must be terrible... :hug:
So I've been MIA the past few days, but here I am! I haven't quit!! :cool1: Week 1, almost done!! Yay!!!!!!!!! I am going for a run tonight when DH gets home. Yesterday I did a strenght training program that was in the shape mag this month, and I am so sore today! I take the soreness as a badge of accomplishment! :)
Something I would like to do for me? My dream is to finally be at a healthy weight. I need this more than I ever have. I was at a healthy weight for a few years right before I had kids. That was it. The rest of my life has been unhealthy. This has to be the time that I stick with it and make it a lifestyle change, not just a temporary "diet," you know?
Hope you are all having a great OP day! :goodvibes
QOTD Wednesday, 6/6/12: It's Woo Hoo Wednesday! Give yourself a big "woo hoo" for helping yourself to be healthy and share something that you did this week to help you with your goals. Hopefully you don't feel like you've been on the wildest ride in the wilderness!;)
Not really weight related, but Disboard related!! I read about the ticket price increase last Saturday night. Jumped onto UndercoverTourist to purchase my tickets. Just looked, saved $170!!! That that's a big Woo Hoo for the vacation budget!!!
Hang in there!!! At least you found out in time, I know many that ignore the signs. Keep on swimming.
BAMB!! -- Awesome that you were able to wear the heels. I can't wear heels due to my cerebral palsy. I'm constantly tripping over my own feet. If I had heels on and tripped I'd bust my butt, :lmao:
Tracey -- MMMMM cookies!! :) I hope these next 2 weeks go fast so you can enjoy your vacation :beach:
PAMELA -- I'm always amazed at how much you and Tracey have to do during the day. It makes me tired just reading about it. :rotfl:
LISAH: :woohoo: on the flights of stairs and standing work station. Although I'll admit my legs/feet would be killing me by the end of the day, :)
MINANDMICK: :woohoo: I hope you both enjoy your gym time!
JESSICA: My tip about the water: Either buy a 32 oz (or bigger) water bottle or just use a big cup and fill it up at the beginning of the day. Then once its finished go back and refill it. I've found the bigger cup I use to drink my water the more successful I am at drinking my goal by the end of the day. Good luck!
I feel confident at the end of the first week. I'm finally happy that healthwise things are going to get figured out and some things are starting to make sense. I've finally accepted that my body is going to lose a half a pound to a pound a week, nothing more. It took awhile to swallow that pill but it is what it is.
As far as doing something for myself I'm planning on buying myself a reward this weekend. (I'll post about it after I finish up replies).
I also at some point want to work for Disney World. ::MickeyMo They are hiring like crazy right now but I'm waiting til beginning part of next year. I want to figure out all my medical issues right now.
I want to get to my goal weight (which I know will take forever and a day at this rate, :lmao:)
But out of all of these I want another baby. I can't even put into words how bad I want this. I miss Maddie every day. :littleangel:
JEN -- :hug:
TWINGLE -- Enjoy your Disney trip! ::MickeyMo
LEE -- I'm so sorry :hug:
-----------------------------------------
Okay, well as of yesterday I'm down 30.4 pounds since May 18, 2010!! :cheer2: Well, I told myself at the beginning of the year for each 10 pounds I lose I'm going to reward myself with something. I have yet to figure out what that is right now :lmao:. I'm still thinking, I just can't make up my flipping mind. I'm thinking Bob Harper's newest book but I keep going back and forth. Maybe a trip to World of Disney at DTD...
I peeked at the scale this morning and I'm less then 3 pounds from ONEDERLAND! AHHHH!!! The suspense is killing me!!!
Its been raining on and off here most of the day. I didn't fall asleep til the wee hours of the morning and was woke up from a dead sleep due to thunder. Yes, I may be almost 30 years old but I'm still a chicken when it comes to thunderstorms. I can't stand them. I'm going to get some strength training done later and just relax. I didn't get a whole lot done today.
I finally did however make some progress with the whole medical issue I've been dealing with. My doctor told me almost 2 weeks ago she thought I had PCOS (by looking at old test results my old GYNO did in TX). She referred me out to a reproductive endocrinologist. The closest one to my house was 30 miles and after calling their office 3 times over the course of the last week and a half NO ONE has gotten back to me. :mad:
I finally took the advice of a friend and called Tricare (military insurance) and complained and asked to be referred to someone else. The lady was very helpful and told me to go on the website and find a new RE, make an apt, call back and give the info to Tricare so they could change the referral. After a few minutes of helping me navigate through the website I found one.
The only problem? The closest one to my house is over 70 miles away (one way) in Tampa! OYE!! After talking with Alan and one of my friends whose also having fertility issues I've decided I'm calling the office in Tampa on Monday. Yes, I may have to drive over 100 miles RT but I want a diagnosis. I want to know what's wrong and get this ball rolling. I'll keep everyone posted and hopefully this office can help me. I did some googling and found the doctor's office and found out that she is the number 1 rated fertility specialist in the state. Fingers crossed that this works.
JESSICA: My tip about the water: Either buy a 32 oz (or bigger) water bottle or just use a big cup and fill it up at the beginning of the day. Then once its finished go back and refill it. I've found the bigger cup I use to drink my water the more successful I am at drinking my goal by the end of the day. Good luck!
Thanks for the tip I will have to try this!
Hi Everyone,
Since tomorrow is our first challenge weigh in, I wanted to say that I hope everyone has gotten off to a great start!!! We can do it :)
Good evening all! :goodvibes
Just a little reminder for what we need to be doing tomorrow.
What do you need to do tomorrow?
Please PM your weight to our lovely weightkeeper, dvccruiser76.
Please PM your HH points to our lovely HH coach, CC.
Thank you, ladies, for all you do for us! :thanks:
Hello super supportive dissers! Haven't been able to get on the boards for a few days - we're leaving for Disney World at O dark thirty tomorrow morning! I've managed to get my exercise in everyday, and am a work in progress with my food choices ;)
Have a wonderful time at WDW, Twingle! :smickey:
Anxious to hear more about the standing work station! Let me know how you are liking (or hating) it.
I really like the standing work station. It's an alternative station so I might feel differently if I was standing there all day right now. DH is going to build standing stations for our offices also. I'm getting used to the stairs, too. It's not too bad until about the last half dozen steps on the last flight -- I'm always afraid someone is going to introduce themselves to me when I am huffing and puffing and wonder what the heck is going on. :lmao:
The beautiful Wishes picture is from the photos area of the sister board of the Disboards, wdwinfo.com They have a nice slideshow of Wishes. Just another reason to love the Disboards. :love:
qotd I'd love to run a disney race (like many others on here lol). Have to get my act together though and actually do a bit more exercise!
Just wanted to say thanks for the great questions and quotes this week:thumbsup2 Even though I may not have posted much I've loved reading along:)
Pamela I can't wait for your recipes to start! I'm making a low fat pasta dish for dinner tonight with quark in it instead of cream. Hopefully it tastes as good as it sounds-love pasta, so quick and easy to do!
Glad that you enjoyed the questions! :goodvibes Another person wondering what quark is. Inquiring minds want to know . . .:cool2:
I spend a lot of time around negative Nancy's who always have a reason why someone can't do something and are never happy because they think life is just surviving and not living. Well, us here on the BL thread, don't think that way do we!?
Let's get out there and do stuff! :yay:
You are so right, Kayla! :thumbsup2
And by the way, you didn't just finish your first half marathon . . . you finished your first half marathon with an amazing time! :yay:
I think that actually sending in my starting weight from last Friday might be a good spot to start, don't you??;) whoops!
:rotfl2: Yes, that would be a good start! ;)
Hope your evening went well! :flower3:
That's pretty cool! Here's the only thing I don't understand/are worried about: do you run/walk during the races? I would rather run the whole thing, but I just want to know what you are supposed to do on race day (if you can let me know). I know he is the official coach for the runDisney events, so I thought I would try his plan. I think I'll be starting Sunday if I can't start tomorrow. I'm pretty excited. I'm even thinking of having DS9 do it with me. He's run 5ks before, but there's no rhyme or reason to his running/walking, so I thought it would be good for him, too. I'd appreciate any info you can spare :)
You do use your run/walk interval all the way through the race, Jill. A great place to start looking at Galloway programs is the RunDisney.com site. Here is a link to the half marathon training program for beginning runners for the January races but the information would apply to any race. http://as1.wdpromedia.com/media/ewwos/pdf/rundisney/training-programs/2013/WDWHALF13beg.pdf. Also, he has several training videos on the RunDisney site that he refers to in running school. His website jeffgalloway.com has a lot of great info and I would suggest getting one of his books.
It's good to start out easy and get a good base. The 5K plan will help you do that. It will be fun if your DS can do it with you. Unfortunately, I scarred my DS for life by having him do a 5 mile race with me when I was the poster child for poor training a couple of years ago and he has sworn that he will never, EVER run again, unless he is being chased by zombies. :rolleyes1
Oh and last but not least, do join us on the BL Runners and Walkers thread. Everyone is welcome! :goodvibes
BRB smilie police again :rolleyes1
Apparently we have posting speed police, too. I foiled the smilie police but the posting speed police got me. :rotfl:
I feel great at the end of the first week, even if the scale does not show it. I have been at a plateu for about a month, but I know that without the support you have given me here this first week I would have just given up. I cannot say enough how much the support that I have received here has helped me this past week. So a big THANK YOU to all of my new friends. :flower3:
Boy that is tough when you hit a plateau like that. You're doing great by continuing on and not letting it get you down. :thumbsup2 Are you doing WIN!? Keeping track of measurements is a great way to have another way to track your progress. I lose inches or pounds but not both at the same time. :confused3
So many dreams:
Wear the shorts I have from when we lived in Hawaii
Run a Disney marathon
Walk the Camino de Santiago (500 mile trail through Spain)
be fit enough to walk the Camino de Santiago
Run a marathon at the Great Wall of China
Go to all the Disney parks
I'm sure there is more, but those are it for now.
That sounds like a great list to me, Buffy! :goodvibes
This is my honest answer. No dreams right now. The ones I had (and there were a lot of them) were all smashed about 3 weeks ago when I found out fiance cheated on me. So no more him, just me and my kids. Now trying to find new dreams. Until then I am in the "just keep swimming" stage. I can be polite and say I exercise to be a healthy and more active mom with my kids, and it is true, but reality is I am here and working out, because I don't have any idea what to do now. So maybe by time I figure it out, I can be a bit healthier and look better.
I'm so sorry to hear of your troubles. :flower3: One day at a time, one hour at a time, one minute at a time works for other things besides getting healthy. :hippie:
So I've been MIA the past few days, but here I am! I haven't quit!! :cool1: Week 1, almost done!! Yay!!!!!!!!! I am going for a run tonight when DH gets home. Yesterday I did a strenght training program that was in the shape mag this month, and I am so sore today! I take the soreness as a badge of accomplishment! :)
What kind of exercises are you doing, Holly?
Not really weight related, but Disboard related!! I read about the ticket price increase last Saturday night. Jumped onto UndercoverTourist to purchase my tickets. Just looked, saved $170!!! That that's a big Woo Hoo for the vacation budget!!!
That is a BIG :woohoo:, Janis!
I feel confident at the end of the first week. I'm finally happy that healthwise things are going to get figured out and some things are starting to make sense. I've finally accepted that my body is going to lose a half a pound to a pound a week, nothing more. It took awhile to swallow that pill but it is what it is.
It is good to lose slowly and make lasting changes. I hope the doctors can help you find the answers you are looking for, Kristina. :flower3:
