Biggest Loser "Sizzlin' Hot" Summer Challenge

My woohoo would be drinking 8 glasses of water today. I am very happy about that. I want to increase it 8 while I'm at work and some before/after work though. But, like Lisa said, slowly is the name of the game! Thanks for the :hug:.

Today was an okay day. It was not a GF day, however. Big oops on my part. Stress eating got the best of me. I really need to come up with a plan to overcome stress eating at work. I'm not even that stressed. Or am I? I don't know. AHHHHHHHHHH. This is getting frustrating. Sorry about the vent.

:hug: Trina. Be on the look out for a PM.

If you get the name list done could you PM it to me? I usually try to do that as we add new folks, but I missed doing it this challenge and the previous one!

Evening friends! Kids and I got the :thumbsup2 from the dentist, but DS definitely needs to brush better.

See you all tomorrow!............P

I'll PM you the list. I am still missing a few people's names. I'll put them on and if you know them, can you PM me? Thanks!

Btw~brushing must be a DS thing! DS9 was told at the orthodontist that he needs to brush better. The ortho also told me that DH and I should be brushing his teeth for him at least 1 time a day because he's still young. I'm sure he doesn't want his friends to know that!

Hey Jill ... I am so glad to see you back from the last challenge. How was your Anniversary trip? My son picked PENN STATE! Whoo Hooo! We were going back between Cornell and Penn State. Penn State was the more financially correct choice and he chose it (smart kid! :lmao:)

If you do run the Color Me 5K, let me know and perhaps we can meet! :)

Our trip was so awesome. We had such a blast relaxing and checking out all the resorts. The only ones we missed were the All Stars (we'll probably never stay at those) and the Port Orleans. I really wanted to see French Quarter, but I guess we'll save it for next time.

WE ARE! Whoohoo to Penn State. Glad he's all decided and congrats!

I showed DH the Color me 5k and he said from a respiratory point of view (he'll be graduating in 6 months as a respiratory therapist), it cannot be healthy lol. What is the "paint?" I watched the video and it looks like a powdered paint? He said he would rather me not breathe it in. But, it looks awesome & I'm still going to try to convince him that it is safe or they wouldn't be able to have the races everywhere.

Howdy folks!

QOTD Wednesday, 6/6/12: It's Woo Hoo Wednesday! Give yourself a big "woo hoo" for helping yourself to be healthy and share something that you did this week to help you with your goals. Hopefully you don't feel like you've been on the wildest ride in the wilderness!;)

My whoohoo is that I decided to get back into running. It's been about 6 months and I want to do some 5ks (hopefully with DS9) and possible 10ks. I bought Jeff Galloway's 5k app and will be starting this weekend. I almost bought the 10k app, but I thought I'd start small. I feel like I'm in good shape since I spin, walk, and do circuit training. I'll see how it goes, but hopefully I'll be back to where I was soon. Has anyone used his app or running plan?

I had a really bad day at work. I basically got a talking to from my new boss and she threatned my job. This is a job i've had for three years and i thought a lot of the stuff she said was out of line and innappropriate. I understand where she was coming from but she seriously went about it the wrong way. She told me i should be working in a factory where I wouldn't see people, and i had no business working in customer service. She also told me i should be on meds for my depression. Among other things. Basically i've had some stuff going on and i've had an attitude at work, and instead of asking me what was wrong she just attacked me. I'm going to be speaking about what she said to my other manager and another one of my managers encouraged me to call the HR number but im honestly afraid to lose my job, even though i know those things are set up to protect the employee but im still weary.

so yeah, not the best day. i came home and ate pizza rolls because i was just so tired and blech. so that was a bad choice (not only unhealthy but hey im lactose intolerant)

hopefully tomorrow will be better

Oh no! I'm so sorry for your manager's rudeness. You have it right, though~tomorrow will be better :)

Hoping my boss isn't calling me all day as our groupon at the spa is up a day early! I've already posted it on our facebook pages so I did what I was supposed to! Now just hoping she does her part! I love her dearly but if she says to me one more time that I need to step up I think I might scream! She did at least yesterday that she herself needed to step up! SO TRUE!!!!

Time for some snuggling with Izzie! It's freezing in the house! I really don't want to put the heat on in June! UGH!!!!

TTFN :tigger:

I love groupon!

I texted DH yesterday and told him that the house was freezing and I wanted to turn on the heat! (I didn't). DS6 cuddled with me since my pajamas were "warm and fuzzy." Why is it finally summer vacation and it was only 65 yesterday with lows in the 40s? DH did say it's supposed to be back up to 90 this weekend. I wish it would make up it's mind!

I felt like I spent most of yesterday just spinning my wheel and didn't get anything great accomplished, other than making beds and folding laundry, so I need to DASH today to get some things crossed off the list!

I actually had a "Pamela day!" I walked the kids to school, went to the bank, went to Home Depot and Lowe's to price fencing, made an appt for a roof estimate, made beds, unloaded the dishwasher, reloaded the dishwasher, washed a few things by hand, vacuumed the 1st floor, vacuumed and mopped the stairs, put away a load of laundry, and ran to the Y to get forms for t-ball all before I walked to get the kids from school at 2:30. The whole time I kept thinking that Pamela would be proud. Although, I probably only accomplished half of what you do in a day! ;)

Can I add another WOOHOO!! I wore heels today, still have them on in fact. I wore them for my dad's ambulance dedication in the beginning of May and my feet were killing me by now. Today, no pain!! And we even ran across the street and up the hill to school because we were late!
And I look rather cute too!! These jeans and shirt look good on me, so I feel fabulous!!!

Yay to FABULOUS!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had a busy day today (see above) and made it to spinning. I am watching Men in Black (the first one) with DH and DSs. DS9 wanted to see the third one, but I don't think that will be happening. There was a lot of cursing in the 1st one. Good thing DSs know there are words that are bad and they are not allowed to use! I didn't realize it would be so bad since it was rated PG. But, it's nice to have a movie night on the last day of school. I think next week we will take them to see Madagascar 3 at the drive in.
I'm going to hopefully get a dvd workout in tomorrow morning while DH is at clinicals all day. When I went to rent MIB, I wanted to rent Zumba 2 for the Wii since others were taking about it, but it was already rented. The in-laws are coming over tomorrow for dinner at 5. DH wants to cook out, so I'll have to go grocery shopping during the day.
That's about all for now, so I'll be back tomorrow to check in :)
In the tiki tiki tiki tiki tiki room . . . in the tiki tiki tiki tiki tiki room. All the birds sing words and the flowers croooooon, in the tiki tiki tiki tiki tiki room!
Uh-oh the gods have been angered by all the celebratin' . . . :scared::scared::scared:
Must have been all the goings on at the laughing place yesterday. ;)
So it's happened. You have all your plans, your healthy food, your exercise planned out and BAM you get a big project at work, someone is sick, the car breaks down. Are you best laid plans totally de-railed or do you have a plan B just for such occassions?
Here is an article from sparkpeople.com called:
Flexible goal planning
It's not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the ones most responsive to change. - Charles Darwin
Does change stress you out? Do you feel anxious not knowing what is around the corner in life? It is unreasonable to expect the world to adapt for you; rather you must change to fit the world. Life is without a doubt, unpredictable. While it is natural to desire stability and consistency, life simply doesn't work that way all of the time. People pass away, financial situations change, relationships end--all without our consultation! The best solution is to develop a sense of humor and flexibility. Continue to set long-term goals, but keep your options and means for achieving those goals adaptable, just in case life decides to throw a wrench in your plans.
QOTD Tuesday, June 5, 2012: It doesn't matter how great your plan is sooner or later something unexpected is going to come up. Do you have an alternative course charted (aka a plan B) just for such occassions?
:eek: WHAT??? :eek: We are supposed to have a Plan B??
Here is an excerpt from a sparkpeople article called 11 Things Children Can Teach You About Weight Loss
You can live every day with more focus, and every week with more motivation.
Here’s what every child knows that you may have forgotten. See if you can apply some of these lessons to your daily program:
Everything can be a game. Why slog through the same workout routines in boredom, when you can add a little fun? Make up rules, shoot for personal records, regain your competitive spirit.
Don’t walk when you can run. Every day is full of opportunities to increase your fitness. This rule is closely related to "don’t drive when you can walk."
If you don’t like it, don’t eat it. Once you hit your goal weight, chances are your eating habits won’t stick around long if you hated what you were eating. Healthy eating involves balance and moderation.
Laughter feels good. Kids seem to inherently know that laughter can ease blood pressure, help your brain function, give you energy, and help you reach your goals. Smiling and enjoying yourself can be serious help.
Playtime is important. We get so caught up in work, chores and a host of "have-to's" that we forget to take time for ourselves. Not only does relaxing and regrouping make life worthwhile, it has real health benefits. Most of all, it will help you stay consistent and motivated.
The world should be full of color—especially on your dinner plate! Splash it with as many colors as possible, paint it like a rainbow with food. It’s more fun to look at and chances are you’ll be eating a healthy, balanced meal.
It’s always more fun with friends around. Children tend to gravitate toward other children. It gives them spirit and makes them want to play all day. Working out with other people is almost like having your own little playgroup.
Adventures are found outside, not inside. Every kid knows that the good stuff is in the great outdoors—fresh air, wide open spaces, limitless possibilities. You can’t find those things cooped up in a tiny, stale gym. Open the door and start a new adventure every day.
It’s important to use your imagination. You can be Captain Fantastic or Stupendous Woman any time you want. Give yourself permission to believe in your own super powers and let your mind take you wherever it wants to go.
Anything is possible. No fear, no self-doubts, no negative self talk, no self-criticism, no worries, no destructive anxieties or thoughts of failure. To a child, he/she can do anything. And do you know what? They’re right.
You have your whole life ahead of you. Here’s your chance to do it right.
QOTD Monday, June 4, 2012: Which of these motivational ideas can you use on Motivational Monday? Or do you have one of your own? Just make sure it comes from your laughing place!:lmao:
All of them (with the exception of running, that would do in my knees), but especially Anything is possible. When my motivation is turned on full, like it seems to be now, I can lose this weight and get healthier! I've been very on plan all week, and fitting in some exercise or movement. Feeling very good about that:goodvibes!
I agree with the baby steps.... especially for foods like pizza! Could you make your own pizza for yourself at home and eat it while the family has take-out pizza? That is a solution I've used around here. In fact, we rarely get take-out pizza at all any more.... maybe just a few times a year. The family is okay with my healthier homemade pizza these days. Whole wheat thin crust with plenty of lowfat cheese for DS, some veggies and lowfat cheese for DD, and LOTS of veggies and a bit of lowfat cheese for me. Low carb crust and regular cheese for DH. It really is quick and easy with premade crusts and jarred or frozen sauce. I can eat 4 slices of this pizza for LESS calories than just two slices of pizza from our local place. I'm definitely a volume eater, so this is ideal for me.
First of all.... DON'T EVEN tell me about the butterscotch pie.... it sounds delish! And second.... good job with the instincts. I find that folks routinely underestimate the calories that are in things..... especially desserts. I try to estimate HIGH, just to CMA.
Your DS sounds like my busy DD. She took AP Chem this year and had to really work hard!
The venus watching sounds like fun. Makes me wish I hadn't ditched my telescope about 10 years ago.... but we never used it.
Quick question to everyone..........
How would you all feel about me posting a weekly recipe here (and of course, posting it on the recipe thread as well)? I wouldn't always be able to post calories and/or Points (or PP) for them. But I have several recipes I've been thinking about sharing and I've seen several people mention needing to change up their routines with maybe some newer things. So I thought a weekly recipe here on the main thread might be helpful. Just wondering.
Making my own small pizza while the family has their own is not a bad idea. Could make it exactly how I like it!
I always estimate on the high side as well. I use to squeeze out as much as I could, but WW did away with the partial points and only used whole numbers now. A change for the better in the long run. But estimate high, better to be safe than sorry.
These will be his first AP classes, two this year. He was taking so much math and science that we kind of held back at first. He feels ready now. He will be busy tho, since he will be doing cross country in the fall and track in the spring - and they condition almost all year round, from July thru October and then November thru May. He runs on his own those two months they don't!
And Venus didn't work. We actually got in the car and headed north to try and get outside of the clouds, but couldn't make it. Saw it some online. So now he says he will live with good eyesight to 121 so he can see it again! :rotfl: Good for him! He is really into astronomy, so I hope I can get my telescope back in shape.
Love the idea for the recipe! Still am subscribed to the recipe thread.
Btw..... if you are ever having a BRAINLESS Monday morning and trying to get DisRadio on your computer, do NOT.... I repeat DO NOT type in Disradio.com!!!!!! May I just say..... :eek: How is that legal?? Scary to think that my kids could stumble upon something like that! Now to go figure out how to get rid of my cookies on the computer!................P
I'm afraid to enter it...do tell :)
Had to read this one a couple of time to figure out what was going on. :hippie: Hope the cloud cover stays away! :umbrella:
Yep, no worries on those day to day fluctuations! :hippie: It's the trend that counts. ::yes::
Cloud cover won :headache:
Those day to day fluctuations used to drive me nutso. I finally figured out water weight and whatnot, and go with the flow a little bit more. I still weigh myself every morning, and scribble it in the corner of the calendar. If I follow each Friday down, it is usually a downward trend (when I'm OP).
Good luck to all and if you don't feel comfortable posting, try it. I was shy at first and now I just jump in and talk everyones ears off :)
Well, 28 kindergarteners (just my son's class~and 3 classes went) will wear you out. We went to a farm and to a HUGE playground at a park. They had a blast, but I am so tired! And, 6 year olds say the funniest things. One girl told me they don't go to Wendy's very much anymore because it's getting too expensive. They do go to China Wok (buffet), though. And, I got schooled on Reeboks by a little boy. He told me what kind and color to get, as well as where to buy them. Kids are too cute. I almost wish I could freeze time. 9 and 6 are great ages. I hope I keep thinking that when they are 19 and 16 :eek:
My post count has climbed faster since I've been here. My problem is finding time to read and post!
Love that age! I used to teach and love the little ones. They do say the funniest things! DS is 16 now, and in the moody teenage stage, but we still can have fun together. A little odd though, looking up at my little boy!
Today was a great day!! I swear I became ADHD overnight. I was acting like DS10 when he's not on his meds.
I got a ton of chores done. I ate 100% OP tonight and even had calories left over before any form of exercise. I got over 10,000 steps in today.
The only thing I didn't do was an official workout. DH is dragging his feet on getting the treadmill down off blocks (flood warning a few weeks ago, and the treadmill is in the basement). But just sitting here jiggling my legs, I probably got 5 miles in!! LOL
I hope tomorrow is just as good. I just felt awesome today!
Congrats on a great day :goodvibes! I just love those - you feel like you can take on the world - and win :cheer2:!
So it's happened. You have all your plans, your healthy food, your exercise planned out and BAM you get a big project at work, someone is sick, the car breaks down. Are you best laid plans totally de-railed or do you have a plan B just for such occassions?
QOTD Tuesday, June 5, 2012: It doesn't matter how great your plan is sooner or later something unexpected is going to come up. Do you have an alternative course charted (aka a plan B) just for such occassions?
I do prepare in small ways. I have good food at home and work. Wether's Sugar Free is a life saver for me, I usually have a couple a day. So nice and creamy tasting. And yesterday when we were chasing the sun, I bought a bag of carrots and water with me in case I got hungry. But we ended up stopping at Subway, which is another plan B (instead of Burger King, which DH prefers). Sometimes I just tough it out. It has been really bad at work (busy time and coworker on vacation) and I have been super hungry as I usually am my first week, but I have avoided indulging although I have had opportunity to do so.
Quote of the Day
When nothing goes right, go left.
Switch gears, look at things from a different vantage point, redirect, refocus.
Plan B.
Love this!
I started a new adventure today -- I started boot camp today! Umm, did I mention that I went through a phase where I bought too many Groupons? (Ha!) One of them was for a 4-week outdoor boot camp at a nearby park. It's an ongoing series, but today was a "test" day where they encourage people to start so they can measure your abilities. After warming up with a couple of laps around the track, we did some calisthenic warmups and then got to testing -- run a mile, do pushups and sit-ups for a minute each, and to squats and planks for as long as possible. It was a good way to meet the other recruits and cheer each other on. All in al, a good 60 minutes of activity!
This sounds like so much fun, I wish I could fit time in to do this! Maybe once DS goes off to college. I like that they check your fitness level instead of just throwing you in the deep end, like they did when I was in basic training for the AF! Of course, I was a lot healthier at 18 than now!
I decided to start losing weight because i had hit a really low point in my life, where i truly hated myself and how i looked. I have always been a skinny girl and I had reached 165lbs, hated even showering or being naked, ate what i wanted, never worked out, and could see myself heading down a dangerous path. I decided to make a change, and in that year i have learned so much about what it means not only to lose weight but have a healthy lifestyle. I learned how to count calories, eat my veggies, drink my water, and that working out made you feel awesome. I lost weight slowly, but i was ok with that most days, because i wasn't huge to begin with. I am now down to 135 lbs, but i still have the same body issues. I look in the mirror and very rarely see the slim girl that i am. Mostly its my stomach that is my big issue but in general i need to work on how i feel about myself.
For this challenge, I want to focus on not only losing those last 10lbs, but also working on how i think about myself, and working on getting back into good habits. I can see myself slipping into bad habits again, not only with not working out and not eating right, but feeling bad about myself and not eating at all or eating way too much and then being depressed. I've been going through a very tough time and i need to focus on myself again, because i truly believe living a healthy lifestyle makes me feel better mentally, and ive been feeling very depressed and unhappy lately.
I've also been having stomach issues since december which is just starting to get under control. the doctors have yet to figure out whats wrong, and its been a very frustrating time. i was going days without eating and felt miserable all the time. we did determine i am lactose intolerant but that is not the whole issue. its something i am still struggling with.
so that's my story. i hope to be more active this challenge, because i think it will help me get back on track. i def need the help and motivation you guys have to offer because i feel myself falling deeper and deeper into lack of motivation and depression. i'm ready to start over!
Welcome back! Part of the way to get over the body image issue is realizing it is an issue which you have done. I slipped into my bad habits again, and pulling myself back out. The stomach issues are hard to deal with though, when you are trying to eat healthy. I hope they figure it out soon, it can be very depressing to constantly have that going on. Hang in there and good luck this challenge!
I think I'm going to spend tonight going back over the posts and write down people's actual names to go with the usernames. I already forget a few of the newer names! And, I am horrible with names!!
I am really bad with names too, so I started that last challenge, although with two threads and so many starting after the new year, I quickly lost track. I have one for this time around tho, keep it on my excel spreadsheet. Just on another tab with all my BL and HH stuff.
QOTD Wednesday, 6/6/12: It's Woo Hoo Wednesday! Give yourself a big "woo hoo" for helping yourself to be healthy and share something that you did this week to help you with your goals. Hopefully you don't feel like you've been on the wildest ride in the wilderness!;)
What I did big was today. Our landlords where I work occasionally have special little things going on. Today was free sundaes - variety of ice creams, sauces and toppings. I had been planning to go...and people were talking about it and I started thinking about how well I have done this week, how my weight is going down...and I DID NOT get a sundae! And I have been super proud of myself all afternoon for letting it go. I have a little bit of ice cream at night for my treat - that'll do just fine. Last challenge someone said that a week from now you won't remember how it tasted, and it is only 5-10 minutes of pleasure - that goes right to your hips! I am so glad I talked myself out of it - especially since ice cream is my fav!
I had a really bad day at work. I basically got a talking to from my new boss and she threatned my job. This is a job i've had for three years and i thought a lot of the stuff she said was out of line and innappropriate. I understand where she was coming from but she seriously went about it the wrong way. She told me i should be working in a factory where I wouldn't see people, and i had no business working in customer service. She also told me i should be on meds for my depression. Among other things. Basically i've had some stuff going on and i've had an attitude at work, and instead of asking me what was wrong she just attacked me. I'm going to be speaking about what she said to my other manager and another one of my managers encouraged me to call the HR number but im honestly afraid to lose my job, even though i know those things are set up to protect the employee but im still weary.
Hate bosses like this - she did say things she had no business saying. She should have taken you aside and asked, not attacked you like that. If you trust the other manager, speak with her and you might want to document it with HR. If nothing else, keep notes.
I have drank all my water every day since the start of the challenge. And today even when I doubted I could do it, I finished c25k week 4 day 1. I was really worried about the 5 min running, but I did it! :cool1: And feel totally accomplished.
Congrats :cheer2:!
Can I add another WOOHOO!! I wore heels today, still have them on in fact. I wore them for my dad's ambulance dedication in the beginning of May and my feet were killing me by now. Today, no pain!! And we even ran across the street and up the hill to school because we were late!
And I look rather cute too!! These jeans and shirt look good on me, so I feel fabulous!!!
Boy, you have had a couple of good days! Good for you:cheer2:! I can't wear high heels, only low ones, and for no more than a couple of hours. I usually wear sneakers (fitted at my DS's running store), and at home they are off and I am in my comfy slippers. It is fabulous you were feeling so good and looking so great!
*******************************************************
DH turned in early (up late working last night) and DS is taking a shower, so a chance for me to catch up. We just finished closing the month (financials), and I am doing two jobs for the next week with my coworker gone (her DS graduating HS). Already behind on my regular job, so it is going to be a stressful week - already has been. And know we are getting used to our new accounting system...that'll slow me down, even though we have been practicing with it, it is not like knowing it inside out like the one I have used for the past four years.
DS is in final exams week. His big ones come tomorrow and Friday, and then he will be done for another year. Very dedicated...he programmed his iPad with a passcode, and had me enter a number so that he can't get in since I only know the number. I guess we will cancel the passcode Friday morning before I go to work so he can use it again after exams that day. I did sign him in yesterday while we were chasing the sun so he could look some stuff up. We got close, but didn't quite make it. A bummer, since they had said the clouds would clear up during the day, but they ended up getting thicker. Poor kid. He has been talking about this transit for a year now, he really was excited to see it. But like I said, he plans to live to be 121 so he can see the next one!
Plan to go see MIB this weekend, and need to get together with our friends to see that Snow White picture as well...reviews are all over the place, but if nothing else, the pictures look beautiful. And will find out soon if we can go to the midwest like we planned, DH might end up with a business trip he can't get out of. I really want to go soon though, my niece and nephew were born in February, they won't be small much longer!
Off to get my stuff together for work - I might turn in a little early as well since it is so quiet around here. Get a good night's sleep, better to face tomorrow with.
Have a great night all!
Carol
So far, so good; OP today. Now if I can finally get out of my office and to the gym I'll be feeling much better than yesterday! :cool1:
I hope everyone had a good Wednesday! :)
Star light, star bright,
First star I see tonight.
I wish I may, I wish I might,
Have the wish, I wish tonight.
Ohh, a world of wishes,
A world where dreams come true.
So make a wish, see it through.
Dare to do what dreamers do.
Wishes...
Dream a dream.
Wishes...
Set it free.
Wishes…
Trust your heart.
Just believe.
Here we are at the end of our visit to the Happiest Place on Earth. The end of the first week of our challenge. :cool2: And my last little excerpt from a sparkpeople article. :goodvibes
Boldly explore your dreams
As we grow older, we reflect upon our lives--the things that we have done and the things we didn't do. Don't let this happen to you! What would you do if you knew you could not fail? Imagine the difference this could make in your life. Imagine how fearlessly you would march across the beach in your bathing suit! Break the habits of fear that are holding you back and forget the hundreds of distractions that seem to justify not trying new things! Achieve your dreams, take risks, build your vision and go boldly towards it.
QOTD Thursday, June 7, 2012: Is there something that you dream of doing just for you? If you feel comfortable, please share or just share how you feel at the end of the first week of the challenge.
I will be back tomorrow with replies. Have a great evening all!
I am feeling great as we end the first week. Thanks to everyone for the motivation! I've been exercising OP, watching what I eat, and drinking my water. Grateful to share this journey with everyone!
Good Thursday morning everyone.
It has been a crazy week but it is almost done. Today is the last official day of classes and then exams start tomorrow.
I have a National HOnor Society induction to go to tonight at 5:30 and hopefully I can be back home in time to go to yoga.
Dh is going camping this weekend so I can eat whatever I want. I love weekends like this.
Lisa thanks for coaching this week. I don't know if I can live up to standards you have set this week. YOu did a great job.
We had our annual school luncheon yesterday. I have to say I was happy with myself. I did not load up my plate and I came out without feeling stuffed. I did not have a plate full of desserts. I had some but a small piece.
I found out yesterday that I am working for 5 weeks this summer doing AP prep classes for calculus. The money will help with getting ready for DW>.
MY dream is to make a lap quilt for each of my neices and nephews this summer. It will be a reach but there is a challenge. I don't want to buy fabric if I can help it. I have enough fabric to do them so I am hoping to use up my stash of fabric.
Have a happy and healthy day.
:thanks:
QOTD Thursday, June 7, 2012: Is there something that you dream of doing just for you? If you feel comfortable, please share or just share how you feel at the end of the first week of the challenge.
I will be back tomorrow with replies. Have a great evening all!
Another go to the iPod and turn on the music......You have sent me to do that more than once this week:thumbsup2:cool1: I love this music and listen to it frequently.
Super dream/wish is an around the world Disney trip with visits to the Disney Parks in Anaheim, Orlando, Tokyo, Paris, Hong Kong, and Shanghai with stop off in Aulani and a Disney Crusie or 2 sandwhiched in there somehow........Ok there are dreams and then there are far-fetched dreams which I think this one seems to be. Oh well......gotta dream big right? That way when reaching for the big dreams you get some of the smaller dreams along the way.
So might as well throw in a few extras to the dream such as a night or two in the Castle Suite at Cinderella's Castle.......be the Grand Marshall for a parade down Main Street......sing with the Voices of Liberty.......I love dreaming don't you!!!
I am feeling really good about my progress this week. I have a morning ritual of getting on the Wii Balance Board for a fitness check so I know how I am doing each morning.....sometimes it is good sometimes neutral and sometimes bad. I know many people discourage daily weigh-ins but I find the accountability of the morning activities helpful and then I also have an informed start to my day.
But the biggest thing that gets me through is this challenge. I know I say it frequently, but I do truly mean it. :thanks: So my dream for this week is a great weigh in for us all tomorrow!
Christopher
Happy Thursday morning friends! I'm working today, so I won't be able to pop on much, but I will have a bit of time while the students are in music this morning, so I will be back before lunch to catch up. TTYL.............P
Howdy folks!
QOTD Wednesday, 6/6/12: It's Woo Hoo Wednesday! Give yourself a big "woo hoo" for helping yourself to be healthy and share something that you did this week to help you with your goals. Hopefully you don't feel like you've been on the wildest ride in the wilderness!;)
Mine is taking control of my eating at outside events. This is SO hard for me and I did great yesterday at my youngest son's graduation dinner from elementary school. I drank lots of water and had lots of the green salads that everyone brought. I need to keep this as my game plan as my oldest graduates today and there is a graduation party for one of the students right after.
Trina ... :hug: Sorry about your boss. I know it is hard, but if you are having a grumpy day, fake it at work and smile at everyone (even if you don't want to). It is a hard thing to do ... but it could help the situation. Hope this helps.
My WOOHOO Wednesday was not only eating on plan at the volunteer breakfast at school but being under my calorie goal for my morning meal!!
Way to go Buffy. You planning helped me too!!! Thank you!
Our trip was so awesome. We had such a blast relaxing and checking out all the resorts. The only ones we missed were the All Stars (we'll probably never stay at those) and the Port Orleans. I really wanted to see French Quarter, but I guess we'll save it for next time.
WE ARE! Whoohoo to Penn State. Glad he's all decided and congrats!
I showed DH the Color me 5k and he said from a respiratory point of view (he'll be graduating in 6 months as a respiratory therapist), it cannot be healthy lol. What is the "paint?" I watched the video and it looks like a powdered paint? He said he would rather me not breathe it in. But, it looks awesome & I'm still going to try to convince him that it is safe or they wouldn't be able to have the races everywhere.
Jill
I think the paint is colored corn starch (I "think" I read that somewhere.) Your husband it probably right. My main focus is to just finish it. And the paint is second. I am sure my 12 year old will be swimming in it. I have been thinking that I will need a blanket or something for us to sit on for the ride back.
First star I see tonight.
I wish I may, I wish I might,
Have the wish, I wish tonight.
Ohh, a world of wishes,
A world where dreams come true.
So make a wish, see it through.
Dare to do what dreamers do.
Hmm ... what would I do if I knew I could not fail? I think I would love to run a marathon. Not too sure if my body would comply, but mentally I think I could do it. It is something I am working on.
My WOOHOO!!! is that my husband and I have started going back to the gym this week for the first time in 5 YEARS!!!!
WTG!!
Rough week and rough day :(
I have been good about tracking what I eat and was down a little over 2 lbs this morning which was only my weekend gain but still I have at least lost that guess that is my WOO HOO moment of the week....have not worked out other than a few situps and some stretching every day as my lower back has been sore for some reason so most exercise has been bothering it....
todays menu has included chips/salsa, ice cream cone, McD yogurt parfait and a banana....not the best of choices but still under calories for the day...
am hoping I can get to catching up on the hundreds of posts you guys have accumulated!
Glad you are still here with us, despite a rough week. Glad you are under calories, but that you realize you need to make better choices.
Don't worry too much about catching up..... just pop in where ever you can!
popping in to see how everyone is doing.
We all seem to be okay.... how are you??
I'll PM you the list. I am still missing a few people's names. I'll put them on and if you know them, can you PM me? Thanks!
Thanks!!
Btw~brushing must be a DS thing! DS9 was told at the orthodontist that he needs to brush better. The ortho also told me that DH and I should be brushing his teeth for him at least 1 time a day because he's still young. I'm sure he doesn't want his friends to know that!
Definitely a boy thing! DS (14) would have FIT if I tried to brush his teeth, but I may if he doesn't improve soon!
Our trip was so awesome. We had such a blast relaxing and checking out all the resorts. The only ones we missed were the All Stars (we'll probably never stay at those) and the Port Orleans. I really wanted to see French Quarter, but I guess we'll save it for next time.
Never say never! I didn't think I would EVER, EVER, EVER stay at All-Stars.... most especially SPORTS.... but guess where I got the best price last May? And we loved it!!
WE ARE! Whoohoo to Penn State. Glad he's all decided and congrats!
My whoohoo is that I decided to get back into running. It's been about 6 months and I want to do some 5ks (hopefully with DS9) and possible 10ks. I bought Jeff Galloway's 5k app and will be starting this weekend. I almost bought the 10k app, but I thought I'd start small. I feel like I'm in good shape since I spin, walk, and do circuit training. I'll see how it goes, but hopefully I'll be back to where I was soon. Has anyone used his app or running plan?
Makes me want to get back into running!
I actually had a "Pamela day!" I walked the kids to school, went to the bank, went to Home Depot and Lowe's to price fencing, made an appt for a roof estimate, made beds, unloaded the dishwasher, reloaded the dishwasher, washed a few things by hand, vacuumed the 1st floor, vacuumed and mopped the stairs, put away a load of laundry, and ran to the Y to get forms for t-ball all before I walked to get the kids from school at 2:30. The whole time I kept thinking that Pamela would be proud. Although, I probably only accomplished half of what you do in a day! ;)
I'm flattered!!! Most days I AM super busy like that, but as long as I keep moving forward, I don't get overwhelmed!Yay to FABULOUS!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

That's about all for now, so I'll be back tomorrow to check in :)

Jill

Let me know what you pick for movies. I always struggle to find good family movies.

Caught up to here and the students will be in here in 4 minutes so I'll dash for now!...................P

For Me: RUN A DISNEY RACE!
For the week: Bummed that I did not get in the exercise I wanted to but I did track and am down on the scale so I will take that.

Working from home today:banana: so I can catch up on everyone here!!

My boss and his family just did a Color Run this past weekend and he didn't even notice any "dust" or have any breathing issues. He showed us the before and after pics and said they have a ton of fun!!
These have been going on for a while know so I would guess that if it was something that caused any respiratory issues someone would have put a cabosh on the races a long time ago. Go For It!! I had wanted to do it but we were OOT for a baseball tournament all weekend....hopefully next year!

QOTD Thursday, June 7, 2012: Is there something that you dream of doing just for you? If you feel comfortable, please share or just share how you feel at the end of the first week of the challenge.

When I first read the question I automatically thought about running the Princess Half princess:! This is something I have wanted to do for a couple of years and was supposed to last year, but moving to LA got in the way. This year I WILL do it, as long as life doesn't get in the way! I'm also going to add the ultimate dream would be a complete around the world Disney trip! Every park and all ships, well as long as I don't get sea sick. :rotfl:

I am nervous about the weigh in tomorrow, as I know that my eating hasn't been great this week. But I have been getting all my water in :lmao:. Going to try a Zumba class tonight with a new "friend" on base tonight. I just hope I don't make a fool out of myself, since I am completely lacking in the rhythm department. :rolleyes1

Thank you Lisa for this Quote and for the heads up for the QOTD, it really helped me plan out my quotes for the week.

I will respond to everything later, I am rushed to finish reading and eating breakfast. I am library mom today, so I'm taking the kindergarteners to the town library and we are swinging by for a Post office tour as well.

Then it's off to DS15 (exams start today so 1/2 days from here on out)

Grocery store - Stop and Shop had a coupon for 300 gas points if you spend $50. I figure I can spend $50 easily on fresh produce. But the coupon expires today, so I need to use it!

Up to the DR for DS10's script. I hate that I have to get a hard script every 30 days. It's an hour drive to the DR but I won't switch because I like him so much.

back down here to get kids

dinner

bowling banquet decorations - must do!!! The banquet is Sunday and I haven't started.

try to squeeze some kind of workout in. I have not worked out all week. My weight is down but I feel it could be better if I had worked out.

OK, gotta run!! I will be back later! Y'all have a fantabulous OP day!!!

I want to go with you!!! My DH and oldest DS have a plan to save up all our change during the next 4 yrs while he is in HS and then go to Europe for his graduation....IF (and that is a BIG if) we accomplish this...I want to do Disney Paris!!

Ahhh!! I hate when I miss a day on here...time to play catch-up!

Howdy folks!

I do feel a bit like I've been on the wildest ride in the wilderness! I'm currently dog and house-sitting, and Saturday when this family gets back, I go right to another set of animals. This time a bird and guinea pig. All in a days work! But the things I've been doing to help me reach my goals is tracking my food and walking this dog-and he's such a cutie, too

I can hardly believe it's the end of the first week! I feel really good about things so far. One of my goals and dreams for myself is to become a CRNA and live near Disney World. The first thing I have to do to accomplish that is to become an RN, and I am currently getting all my ducks in a row to do that. Hopefully I'll be able to start in the spring of next year.

************
I was fortunate enough to have the morning off today (yay!) and need to get up off the couch and get my run on (boo!). I started watching this special on some true crime, and now I can't turn it off. I do think I'll have enough time to finish the show if I pack my gym bag during commercials, so that's the deal I'm making myself, lol. I missed my Tuesday run and have to do four miles (:scared1:) on Saturday to keep up with my training. I just keep thinking of the money I've already paid for registration and it keeps me going, haha!
