Biggest Loser "Sizzlin' Hot" Summer Challenge

 ,Trina!!!! Take a deep breath!

My little one is up! Seems to be ok this morning!

Hoping my boss isn't calling me all day as our groupon at the spa is up a day early! I've already posted it on our facebook pages so I did what I was supposed to! Now just hoping she does her part! I love her dearly but if she says to me one more time that I need to step up I think I might scream! She did at least yesterday that she herself needed to step up! SO TRUE!!!!

Time for some snuggling with Izzie! It's freezing in the house! I really don't want to put the heat on in June! UGH!!!!

TTFN :tigger:

Good morning all! :goodvibes

This is a good time to review those HH mini-challenges and make sure that you are going to be getting all the HH points that you were hoping for. :goodvibes

Weigh in is right around the corner!

My plan B is to get back on the wagon as soon as possible :)

Great plan! :thumbsup2 I use it myself quite often. ::yes::

Quote of the Day

When nothing goes right, go left.

Switch gears, look at things from a different vantage point, redirect, refocus.
Plan B.

Great quote, Buffy!

I am one that likes to plan my contingencies within my main plan. But I too find myself facng those challenges from time to time. I luckily also fall into the creatively flexible category and have found that I am normally able to find a last minute solution to things that pop up.

That being said, this has helped me think through my plan a little more to try to identify more potential "pinch points" that could lead to need to adjust and to set up those little trapeze nets to help me.

It's fun to have alternatives, too, in case your regular routine starts to get a little stale. :hippie:

I'm rolling with these bad boys though because I'm getting tons done!!

You go, girl! :cheer2:

And yet, sometimes, I'm just in a situation where there are a few great options and several not-so-great options, and so I compromise. I'll hit the carrot sticks and grape tomatoes and then go ahead and have a spoonful of that awesome-looking pasta salad. Or a brownie. I've found that I feel worse in these situations if I try to be all righteous and deprive myself, and my WW plan has room for this kind of compromise. Today is probably a day full of compromising - a work lunch (menu unknown) and a staff reception this evening (menu also unknown). I know I'm going to have to wing it, and so I've decided ahead of time not to beat myself up over whatever I end up deciding to eat.

ITA, Liz, sometimes it is better to compromise at the beginning and get it behind you instead of eating a bunch of other stuff trying to satisfy a craving. :cool2:

I LOVE those kinds of days! Wish I could bottle them and uncork them on days when I can't seem to get anything done!

Wouldn't that be great? pixiedust:

I don't...unfortunately. But I'm the type to just take it as it comes at me. I'm so used to having to change what I do anyway because my work environment is like that. So I've just adapted to adapting, haha :upsidedow

That is a trait that helps you in just about everything! :flower3:

Hi all! Hope your days are going well. I am just checking in real quick. My WW weigh in is tomorrow, so I am anxious to see if I lose this week! Stayed OP yesterday great...hoping for the same today. Off to clean! :)

Good luck on your weigh in! :cheer2:

I don't have a plan B. Day to day I can deal with little things thrown my way. If I were to do any traveling I would make a food/exercise plan for the time I was away from home. I actually have already done some thinking about our vacations in January and February next year.

Great idea thinking about those vacation activities already! :)

I hope today was better but at least you had on the same shoes it could have been worse you could have had one black and blue shoe.:lmao:

:lmao:

Hahaa!! Lisa I swear we are on the same wave-length because this is another question of the day that is a subject that I was just talking about!! :rotfl: Anyways, it seems that every single day I make great plans to fit in everything I need to do, including exercise. And then every single day someone in my family ends up needing something else and all my plans change!! So, I have become a pro at adapting. I have several exercise options in my head so when one doesn't work the way I was hoping due to time or place or whatever, I try to fit something else in and just not let it get to me. The best laid plans ALWAYS go astray!! Thanks for this one, love it!

Yes, that juggling is something that we seem to be good at! ::yes::

:welcome: back, Trina! Those post vacation blahs are the pits. Hope you are feeling better soon! :flower3:

BRB with the rest of my replies. I was getting a tad worried about the smilie police. ;)

Howdy folks!

QOTD Wednesday, 6/6/12: It's Woo Hoo Wednesday! Give yourself a big "woo hoo" for helping yourself to be healthy and share something that you did this week to help you with your goals. Hopefully you don't feel like you've been on the wildest ride in the wilderness!;)

More terrific graphics! I am LOVING it!!

Thank GOODNESS for "Woohoo Wednesday"! :woohoo:

This week..... well it was actually the end of the last week, but despite lots of temptations and distractions, etc, I managed to stay totally OP all weekend. I did NOT have a big splurge day or meal.... been indulging in far too many of those lately... not a good idea, considering I am a few pounds above my maintenance range!

I got an iphone and set up my running sensor but otherwise i haven't done anything great this week. I joined the challenge so that's something!

----
I had a really bad day at work. I basically got a talking to from my new boss and she threatned my job. This is a job i've had for three years and i thought a lot of the stuff she said was out of line and innappropriate. I understand where she was coming from but she seriously went about it the wrong way. She told me i should be working in a factory where I wouldn't see people, and i had no business working in customer service. She also told me i should be on meds for my depression. Among other things. Basically i've had some stuff going on and i've had an attitude at work, and instead of asking me what was wrong she just attacked me. I'm going to be speaking about what she said to my other manager and another one of my managers encouraged me to call the HR number but im honestly afraid to lose my job, even though i know those things are set up to protect the employee but im still weary.

so yeah, not the best day. i came home and ate pizza rolls because i was just so tired and blech. so that was a bad choice (not only unhealthy but hey im lactose intolerant)

hopefully tomorrow will be better

Not much to say..... just want to offer a

Morning friends! Well.... Mother Nature is playing games with me! The sun came out nice and bright while I was driving DD to school and I got all excited for an outdoor run/walk and hanging clothes on the line.... but by the time I got home it was cloudy and threatening to rain again. :headache:

Was going to take DS shopping tonight for clothes for Friday's semi-formal dance, but DH informs me that there is b.ball practice, so I guess I'm shopping alone! I have NO idea what size to buy him in dress shirts. I'll probably buy a selection of sizes for him to try and return what doesn't fit. I've gotta look through DH's neckties today and pick out a few for DS to choose from. DH has some fun funky colored ties (Jerry Garcia collection) so there should be a few good ones to pick from. If I don't find anything that I like, I could always buy DS one of his own.

I felt like I spent most of yesterday just spinning my wheel and didn't get anything great accomplished, other than making beds and folding laundry, so I need to DASH today to get some things crossed off the list!

I'll pop back on at lunch time to say hi! ...................P

Good luck with the 5k.

Do you grow everything that you can?

Thanks! And Unfortunately no, I didn't grow any of it. But we have just gotten a raised bed set up and since we're in New Orleans, we'll be planting this this fall. Too Hot now. ;) I am way lucky to have access to a commissary, so I was able to get the cucumbers for $0.50 each and the jalapenos for $0.99 lbs! Hopefully this weekend or next we'll be heading out to pick blueberries and blackberries.

Howdy folks!

I have drank all my water every day since the start of the challenge. And today even when I doubted I could do it, I finished c25k week 4 day 1. I was really worried about the 5 min running, but I did it! :cool1: And feel totally accomplished.

Good morning everyone! We drove all night and just arrived home a few hours ago! We had a great vacation, May is so much nicer than July in Florida! I'm taking time to relax (since we all know WDW isn't really a relaxing vacation.) before unpacking everything. I indulged a lot, there was a lot of ice cream, but I was incredibly happy to see I only gained .6 lbs when I hopped on the scale today. I did cut 10 inches off my hair at the barber shop to donate which I'm sure played a bit of a role in that, also all that walking we did. Still, I definitely did not feel as great not having my regular food. I picked more decent choices but I felt a little sluggish so I'm excited to finally get back to exercise and all my delicious food.

I think I am most happy with 2 pairs of new Nikes that I ended up bying at the outlet store near WDW. They were on sale for about $60 and $70, so I decided to pick up both. They ended up being another 40% off and I only paid $60 for both! I about fainted when the cashier rang them up. :goodvibes

Looks like there is a lot of new pages so I'll just start fresh with catching up on everyone. :)

I finished week 3 of c25k yesterday, but just don't feel ready to move to week 4, so I think I will redo week 3. I will be signing up for the Wounded Warrior 5k tomorrow! It will be my first 5k, its on 7/22 and I should have just finished c25k or be really close to finishing.

It takes awhile for your body to adjust to the C25K program for sure. :goodvibes

I have educated myself enough to know what good choices to make for food so even if I had to get fast food, I would know how to order etc. If I was unable to make it to zumba, I would try and squeeze something in, even sit ups & push ups before bed if that was all I could do. So I don't really have a plan B, but I have tools to succeed.

That is the sign that you've made the lifestyle change! ::yes::

QOTD-I never used to have a back-up plan but the last challenge taught me that I needed one if I was to have any hope of suceeding sooooooo now I do:banana:
I stock up on healthy foods that allow me to throw a decent meal together in a short space of time for when time is in short supply! I researched the local takeaway menus to discover which meals were healthiest for those times when I'm too tired or just dont want to cook and I have finally learnt how to politely say "no" to things that I know are bad for me (at least most of the time)

All those things help you with having more on plan days and off and help you reach your goals! :flower3:

Kristina, good luck with the doctor's appointment tomorrow! :goodvibes

Now I need to figure out what to do while they are at camp. I'll definitely be walking and hopefully running again. And if the weather ever warms back up to summer temps, I'll hang out at the pool!

Great plan! :beach: It's your summer, too, right?

Carla Rae, I am so sorry that your knee is still hurting. :flower3: You are smart to rest and let it heal.

CC--Thanks so much for the HH prize package! It was just like a birthday party! A box and lots of presents inside! It was fun unwrapping all the cute, useful items.

CC does a wonderful job for us with HH! :thumbsup2

How are you enjoying our summer weather, Linda? I'm wondering if it is going to snow today. :rotfl:

I do have to say that is one thing I don't like about MFP, they will divide up recipes by calories per serving but not serving size in weights and measures.
Still learning but I'm getting there!

There is something that will let you do grams on servings somewhere on MFP. I'll keep looking for it. :goodvibes

Tracey, glad Izzie is feeling better today! :thumbsup2

Well, I would have said yes, until I saw my nutritionist today. I now have lots of revamping to do and need a Plan A.

It sounds like the nutritionist had some suggestions for you and you are going to work on things a bit at a time. That is a great approach and one that is a bit more manageable. You can do this!

Evening friends! Kids and I got the :thumbsup2 from the dentist, but DS definitely needs to brush better.

DS has had this talk, too. Did they give you a fluoride rinse for him to use as well? That seems to help. :teeth:

I just got home from my first exercise class ever. Strength and Sculpt. I am wore out! We used resistance bands for a good portion of the class. When we were working on legs at a few points I had to to let go of the bands with my hand so there was no resistance and it was still super hard to do! There was so much I couldn't do but I didn't want to stop. I modified where I could and went slower than the instructor when I needed to. I did have to take a few breaks. It is every Tuesday for 6 weeks so hopefully I'll report back next month that I am more toned and the class is easy for me!

Won't it be fun to see how you progress? :cool1:

Thanks to my MFP friends, I have been preparing for the days that are going to challenge my plan. Having a support group in here, at home, or somewhere else is so important to success. They have helped me to come up with alternatives when I am not sure where to go. So, reaching out to friends is important.

On that note, keep up the great work everyone!!!

You, too! :thumbsup2

My body hates me, but as of today, I am 7% of the way to my goal and down 3.6lbs. Not too bad for 4 days lol. Just can't wait to adjust to the heavy work outs.

Sounds like wonderful progress this week to me! :flower3:

Can't wait to read everyone's woo hoos! :woohoo:

My woohoo is twofold - survived the two unknown menus yesterday (salmon wrap, yum, for lunch, and flatbread and salad shakers for dinner!). This morning, I did my C25K workout and then decided I wasn't done and did 30DS. I don't know what possessed me except that I got up early enough to fit both in. :cool1:

Oh, man, Trina, that just sucks. That's a manager who really doesn't get it. I'm glad you have support from other managers, but it doesn't take the bad taste out on this encounter. It's easy for me to say from over here because I'm not in your shoes, but I'd second the other manager's suggestion to get this on the record with the HR folks. If there's a pattern of this type of, frankly, abusive language, you'll have it documented. Hang in there.

Welcome home!! We have always gone to WDW in May - this will be our first year going in :scared1: July. :) We have the podcast cruise first, which is why we decided to do it that way. But I do love WDW in May. We've had everything from monsoons (2009) to crazy heat (2011), but we've always had an absolutely wonderful time! And HUGE congratulations on only being up 0.6 - that's what I call a maintain! ;)

Morning everyone!

Well, today was my Sparkpeople weigh in and as of last Wednesday I'm down 1.6 pounds! I just finished up some breakfast and going to relax. We have to leave here around 1:30 to head to my doctor. More then likely we'll grab something for lunch while we're out (usually Subway). Then I'm going to come home and finish up laundry and get a few other things done around the house. I still need to figure out what we're going to do for dinner. At some point I'll get some strength training in. :)

Everyone have a great day! ::MickeyMo I'll post replies later today.

I needed a plan B for yesterday! Started out ok; OP and with a great exercise session and then downhill from there - and all my own fault. I did NOT need to eat the salted caramels and then drive thru McD's at 9:30pm because I was too tired and irritated to cook.

I knew better...the whole time... but the mule in my brain took over. :headache:

Today is another day and I will be OP!

WOOHOO!!!

Can I add another WOOHOO!! I wore heels today, still have them on in fact. I wore them for my dad's ambulance dedication in the beginning of May and my feet were killing me by now. Today, no pain!! And we even ran across the street and up the hill to school because we were late!
And I look rather cute too!! These jeans and shirt look good on me, so I feel fabulous!!!

Baking cookies for the play this weekend and finishing up our shirts for PCC3.0 and afterwards has kept me busy all morning. Catching up on Food Network Star now and then I will get more cleaning done!

Our spa has sold over 30 groupons and some have booked their massages already so it looks like the next 2+ weeks are going to be insane. Izzie appears to be making it through the day ok! Gotta pick up the kids and then run a few errands and go to Izzie's art show. Have to eat a shake for dinner as I had quiche for lunch and sampled the cookie dough while baking! Couldn't help myself. Stress was a factor!

I need to get moving with cleaning now! I think I'll watch some more Downton Abbey on my Kindle while I do that.

Trying to get used to my contacts again for our trip! Seems to be going well!

I haven't done any canning in a long time, but might do a bit this summer if I can get some good stuff at the farmer's market. We used to grow LOTS and LOTS of our own veggies and I canned/froze enough spaghetti sauce and stewed tomatoes for the entire year. Plus I always froze whatever overabundance we had of green beans, broccoli, corn, etc. I miss those days of having a nice full organic pantry and freezer!

Good job with the water and with the run!

First of all, glad to have you back! Second of all, WTG on the hair donation. I've been growing mine out for a while now with the intention of donating again.... just need to get on the ball and DO IT! My hair touches my butt..... more than long enough to donate!

Nice job with the tiny gain! I'm really impressed. And great prices on the sneakers. I am returning the Saucony pair that I bought DD a few weeks ago at Olympia. She had finally pulled them out to wear to gym today and decided she hates the color (black with turquoise). Thankfully the receipt is still in the box. Hope I can find a deal like yours!

Hey friends! Mother Nature is definitely being a bit bipolar today..... the sun FINALLY came out full force this morning, so I hustled around and got TWO loads on the line.... but a few minutes ago it got totally black here again. I was gonna pull the stuff off, but decided to wait and now the sun is shining down again!

I'm plugging along, finishing some pages for DMIL's "100 reasons" book. I'm not enjoying this scrapping project AT ALL, but trying to do it as a labor of love for my dear MIL.... and trying to remember that she will love it and appreciate no matter how great or not-so-great it is.

Beds made, kitchen cleaned up, precooked taco meat in the mini crockpot for a dash-thru dinner for us tonight. I will have a taco salad about 4:30 and DD will have a few tacos about that time. Then I anticipate that the guys will eat around 5pm or so.... taco salad for DH and tacos for DS. Hopefully that will use up all of the taco meat and there won't be much for them to clean up before they head out.

I'll drop DD at the Y about 5:15 and then head to Kohl's and Macy's looking for dress shirt and pants for DS for the semi.

Off to finish up a few last pages before hitting the shower!...................P

So far I have made use of my notebook, and logged all my glasses of water. Made my daily quotas on water amazingly. I also have gotten back to working out, something that I had slacked off on since moving here. I do hope I see a bit of improvement when it comes time to weigh, or I will be terribly disappointed.

Ok so I am a day behind.
QOTD Tuesday, June 5, 2012: It doesn't matter how great your plan is sooner or later something unexpected is going to come up. Do you have an alternative course charted (aka a plan B) just for such occassions?

I have a plan B depending on what comes up. My plan B usually pertains to going out with friends, or unexpected company. My DH and I are pretty good about packing our lunches and planning our dinners out. I guess that I could always be a little better prepared though.

My woo hoo is that I now have three flights of stairs and a new standing workstation at my new office. My legs are not too happy but they will get with the program. :woohoo:

I drank 88 ounces of water today and within the last 2 days have walked 3 miles. I've managed to still treat myself to dessert each night and still stay within my calorie range. Which is a great thing considering I'm in the middle of my first TOM in over 26 months!

:woohoo:

I got an iphone and set up my running sensor but otherwise i haven't done anything great this week. I joined the challenge so that's something!

:woohoo: Hang in there! :flower3:

This morning, I did my C25K workout and then decided I wasn't done and did 30DS. I don't know what possessed me except that I got up early enough to fit both in.

:woohoo: You're on a roll!

Well, today was my Sparkpeople weigh in and as of last Wednesday I'm down 1.6 pounds!

Congrats and :woohoo: on your loss!

It happens, no worries. :goodvibes Sounds like a crazy, busy day.

My WOOHOO Wednesday was not only eating on plan at the volunteer breakfast at school but being under my calorie goal for my morning meal!!

That is worth a :woohoo:, Buffy! And another great quote! :goodvibes

High heels is worthy of a double :woohoo::woohoo: ::yes::

I'm plugging along, finishing some pages for DMIL's "100 reasons" book. I'm not enjoying this scrapping project AT ALL, but trying to do it as a labor of love for my dear MIL.... and trying to remember that she will love it and appreciate no matter how great or not-so-great it is.

I'm sure that your MIL will treasure all your hard work! :flower3:

So far I have made use of my notebook, and logged all my glasses of water. Made my daily quotas on water amazingly. I also have gotten back to working out, something that I had slacked off on since moving here. I do hope I see a bit of improvement when it comes time to weigh, or I will be terribly disappointed.

:woohoo:

Ok so I am a day behind.
QOTD Tuesday, June 5, 2012: It doesn't matter how great your plan is sooner or later something unexpected is going to come up. Do you have an alternative course charted (aka a plan B) just for such occassions?

I have a plan B depending on what comes up. My plan B usually pertains to going out with friends, or unexpected company. My DH and I are pretty good about packing our lunches and planning our dinners out. I guess that I could always be a little better prepared though.

Unexpected company is exactly what happened to me today! :thumbsup2

My WOOHOO!!! is that my husband and I have started going back to the gym this week for the first time in 5 YEARS!!!!

My biggest help and accomplishment this week has been to remain truthful on my tracking on myfitnesspal and to also have befriended some of you on there to have the additional encouragement. I am sure there are others on the challenge that are on map and all I can say is the more friends there the better. My name on map is olegrad95... So send a request with a note about the BL challenge!

Rough week and rough day :(
I have been good about tracking what I eat and was down a little over 2 lbs this morning which was only my weekend gain but still I have at least lost that guess that is my WOO HOO moment of the week....have not worked out other than a few situps and some stretching every day as my lower back has been sore for some reason so most exercise has been bothering it....

todays menu has included chips/salsa, ice cream cone, McD yogurt parfait and a banana....not the best of choices but still under calories for the day...

am hoping I can get to catching up on the hundreds of posts you guys have accumulated!

Howdy folks!

I guess my WOO HOO is that I made my lunch everyday this week. We have so many yummy food choices in the shopping center where I work, but none of them are healty or smart ones. I have gotten up a little earlier and packed my lunch and taken my bagel for breakfast.

The next thing to work on is my water. I got 6 glasses in Monday, 4 yesterday, and only 2 so far today. The trend is going in the opposite direction of what I wanted.
