Biggest Loser "Sizzlin' Hot" Summer Challenge

Question of the Day

What is your favorite ride? YOu can answer for more than one park.

Have a happy and healthy day.

That is a tough one, but I am going to go with Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin. That one was really fun last trip. I liked getting to aim and shoot targets, compete against my son (I won), and my lil princess liked all the lights. I could have been wicked and said the little boat ride that gives you an earworm :littleangel: but I will be good. :rotfl: ha ha you know the words are already starting to tickle the ears.

:grouphug: pjlla, lisah0711, BernardandMissBianca, Holly324, buzz5985 :grouphug: thank you all for the kind words.

WOOHOOO :banana::banana: off work for 3 days in a row. Now have to find some fun and healthy things to do.

QOTD: Definitely a hard decision...but I think I will have to say Tower of Terror!

I am happy with my number on the scale this week! I am down 2.2 lbs.

A BIG THANK YOU to Lisa for coaching last week!

Good Friday morning

Thank you Lisa for hosting last week.

Question of the Day

This is a picture from one of my favorite rides in DW. Yes I love TT (I still call it the wedway people mover)

What is your favorite ride? YOu can answer for more than one park.

Have a happy and healthy day.

This picture is perfect for our weather this weekend! Rain, Rain and more Rain. We have a flood watch in effect from now until late evening on Sunday... And I have to say I love rainy days at Disney! Its a great way to get rid of the crowds and most everyone that is still there are the ones that truly appreciate Disney.

Now QOTD:
MK- Haunted Mansion and POTC These 2 have been my favorites since my first trip to Disneyland when I was 6

EP- Nemo

HS- TSM

AK- EE

Forgot to weigh in this morning before my shower, so I'll be doing my weigh in tomorrow morning.
I did my first zumba class last night and loved it. I will now be doing an hr of zumba Mon. and Thurs. every week! This morning I did Week4 Day2 of C25K, and running for the 5 mins was easier then it was on Wed. :)

Wishing everyone well on their weigh ins!

Hi everyone -

sorry to be so quiet on the boards -- it's been a really busy week. A GREAT week, mind you, but super busy.

My favorite ride?

Disneyland -- Pirates of the Caribbean. I love the length of the ride, the extra drop, and the lovely quiet swamp next to the Blue Bayou. It's much nicer than the one in Magic Kingdom

Disney World -- Haunted Mansion. I can't remember why, but I prefer it to the Disneyland version. :)

I hope everyone had a great week, and is looking forward to a fantastic weekend!

QOTD Thursday, June 7, 2012: Is there something that you dream of doing just for you? If you feel comfortable, please share or just share how you feel at the end of the first week of the challenge.

This is my honest answer. No dreams right now. The ones I had (and there were a lot of them) were all smashed about 3 weeks ago when I found out fiance cheated on me. So no more him, just me and my kids. Now trying to find new dreams. Until then I am in the "just keep swimming" stage. I can be polite and say I exercise to be a healthy and more active mom with my kids, and it is true, but reality is I am here and working out, because I don't have any idea what to do now. So maybe by time I figure it out, I can be a bit healthier and look better.
:hug:You deserve better:hug: You will discover new dreams. Be gentle with yourself and give yourself time to heal. Well done for sticking with the health and fitness goals you have set. I'm sure in the days and weeks to come you will be glad you did. I'll be thinking of you :)
I think I can answer that! :goodvibes

Quark is a German dairy product, kind of related to cream cheese, but very low fat (well, you can get it with different levels of fat, but they are all much less fatty than cream cheese). In Germany we use it for cheese cake, but also mixed with fruit as a snack (like a yoghurt) or as a dip for vegetables. A very simple and standard dish here is potatoes boiled with their skin still on them with quark (often mixed with a few herbs) and in Northern Germany they pour a little bit of linseed (flaxseed?)oil over the potatoes.

If you want to know more, this is the Wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quark_(cheese)

It is great as it is low in fat and high in protein. I love it and usually have several tubs of it in my fridge as a low calory/high protein/low carb staple.

Not sure how well it works with pasta, but I am very interested to hear how it worked!

Thanks for answering for me-life is crazy busy at the moment:rotfl: Recipe was delishious:thumbsup2 Bit like a carbonara. If I get a chance I'll post it on the recipe thread on sunday-it tasted so good:)

Laura! Great job on the walking!! It could be a heel spur...google those, the pain is pretty rough..it might help to go to the drug store and in the foot section find a ring for your heel...you stick it to your heel (kind of like a doughnut) so that you are not putting pressure on your heel...an anti-inflammatory (Aleve) may help over the course of the next few days..take care and hope you get relief!

:Ouch! Sorry about the foot pain, Laura! :flower3: I second the suggestion of anti-inflammatory and maybe some icing. Also give it a rest for a day or two until the pain is gone before you try walking again. It can be frustrating trying to figure this stuff out.

After researching it, I do think it is a heel spur. When I woke up this morning (momentarily forgetting about it) and put pressure on my foot, I nearly collapsed to the floor from the pain. :scared1: I am noticing some relief when I have shoes on - I am normally a "barefoot around the house" kind of girl, so that is taking some getting used to. I took some Aleve this morning, and will be going to CVS later to check out the foot section. Thanks for the advice. :thumbsup2

QOTD:
MK - Splash Mountain
MGM - Tower of Terror
Epcot - Spaceship Earth
AK - Expedition Everest

I am down 1.8 pounds this week for a total of 6. (I re-started WW one week prior to the challenge starting.)

First off, you all talk too much! :rotfl: Miss a day and it takes hours to catch up! My weigh in this morning was uneventful. I stayed exactly the same on the scale and with the tape measure. :headache: But at the same time, I didnt do any good cardio last week because of my knee and only got in my 10,000 steps 3 days again because of the knee. My knee still hurt a bit this morning, but I decided I was starting over, so I went for a jog anyway. The knee wasnt happy about it, but it didnt hurt too bad during the jog. It is not a happy camper now though, so hopefully it wont get any worse as the night wears on.

What is your favorite ride? YOu can answer for more than one park.

I have to go with TTC as the all time favorite ride. I have absolutely no idea why.

HM and Space are a close second in MK.
Soarin and SE
Tot but if by favorite ride, you are talking attraction, Fantasmic wins hands down.
Ak is rough for me. I like Dinosaur and I really like Everest, but they are not in the same league with my favorite rides in the other parks.

pjlla, I meant to respond earlier on your movie question and forgot! I really like Common Sense Media. Their website has great movie guides, and you can sign up for newsletters from them. I think they're doing great work for choosing media responsibly (and they don't stop at movies, so you can get all kinds of info on TV, games, etc. there, too).

XO
Liz

Thanks for the suggestion. DS is always asking if he can buy/rent/play this video game or that.... but most of them I've never heard of and they ALL sound violent! I say NO just because I don't know anything!

I couldn't decide on my favorite at MK, but BLSRS was DEFINITELY in the top 3!!

:grouphug: pjlla, lisah0711, BernardandMissBianca, Holly324, buzz5985 :grouphug: thank you all for the kind words.

YOu are SO welcome.... that is what we are all here for.... help, support, friendship, encouragement, and love!

WOOHOOO :banana::banana: off work for 3 days in a row. Now have to find some fun and healthy things to do.

I have to go with TTC as the all time favorite ride. I have absolutely no idea why.

I love it to.... that is why I couldn't choose a favorite from the MK. I LOVE TTC for its quiet, relaxing pace, cool dark tunnels on a warm day, no lines EVER, and you get a peek inside a lot of areas!

I kind of assumed rides only.... didn't take shows and parades and other attractions into account.... that would have made the decisions somewhat harder and somewhat easier!

GOod afternoon!

Beds got stripped. I remade mine with another set of sheets, but will wait until DD"s are dry on the line and remake her bed with those sheets, as they are here favorites. I USUALLY just strip, wash, dry, and remake with the same set if possible, to save on folding the sheets, but since the end of the day is going to be busy, I didn't want to end up waiting until bed time to make up my bed.

Also got a jeans load washed and on the line and there is a towel load ready to go out, but I don't have any room left! Ironed DS's clothes for the dance. Thank goodness for good quality dress shirts... they are SO MUCH easier than the cheap rags that DH used to buy sometimes for work. Cheap cotton shirts are SUCH a PITA to iron.... they never look good!

DS will be home in one hour, then I need to dash to run to the bank, drop a bag at the thrift store, pick up the corsage for tonight, pick up DD and take her to the Y.... then run home and help DS get all spiffy for the dance!! We are picking up his girlfriend at her house about 6:15-ish. We will take some pictures there and then drop them at the school for the 7pm start time. Then pick up DD at the Y for 8:15.

I have ONE hour left to myself (dinner is already in the oven...:thumbsup2) so I'm gonna hit the scrapping table! TTYL..................P

This is a picture from one of my favorite rides in DW. Yes I love TT (I still call it the wedway people mover)

What is your favorite ride? YOu can answer for more than one park.

Have a happy and healthy day.

I wish that we still had the people mover out in Disneyland. That was my favorite as a kid.
I have only been to WDW once so I cannot really say a favorite ride for there.
For disneyland it has to be HM. We have AP so that ride is a must even if we only go on one. For California Adventure I would have to say that it is a toss up between ToT and Toy Story Midway Mania. Our goal is going to be to go to WDW for our 5th anniversary so I am going to have to make a note of all of your favorite rides.

I did not have a chance to step on the scale before work this week, so I will be doing that first thing tomorrow. Have a happy friday everyone!

Howdy folks!

QOTD Wednesday, 6/6/12: It's Woo Hoo Wednesday! Give yourself a big "woo hoo" for helping yourself to be healthy and share something that you did this week to help you with your goals. Hopefully you don't feel like you've been on the wildest ride in the wilderness!;)
I've just been sticking with what I have been doing. Lots of water, exercise and following the diet. I started two new exercise classes that I love!
Star light, star bright,
First star I see tonight.
I wish I may, I wish I might,
Have the wish, I wish tonight.

Ohh, a world of wishes,
A world where dreams come true.
So make a wish, see it through.
Dare to do what dreamers do.

Wishes...
Dream a dream.
Wishes...
Set it free.
Wishes…
Trust your heart.
Just believe.

Here we are at the end of our visit to the Happiest Place on Earth. The end of the first week of our challenge. :cool2: And my last little excerpt from a sparkpeople article. :goodvibes

Boldly explore your dreams

As we grow older, we reflect upon our lives--the things that we have done and the things we didn't do. Don't let this happen to you! What would you do if you knew you could not fail? Imagine the difference this could make in your life. Imagine how fearlessly you would march across the beach in your bathing suit! Break the habits of fear that are holding you back and forget the hundreds of distractions that seem to justify not trying new things! Achieve your dreams, take risks, build your vision and go boldly towards it.

QOTD Thursday, June 7, 2012: Is there something that you dream of doing just for you? If you feel comfortable, please share or just share how you feel at the end of the first week of the challenge.

I will be back tomorrow with replies. Have a great evening all!

The one I am working on right now, besides losing weight and getting healthier, is the Disney half marathon. I am aiming for the Wine and Dine half in 2014. But I will be running a half locally before that.

Good Friday morning

Thank you Lisa for hosting last week.

This is a picture from one of my favorite rides in DW. Yes I love TT (I still call it the wedway people mover)

What is your favorite ride? YOu can answer for more than one park.

Have a happy and healthy day.

MK-Splash Mountain, Tea Cups
Epcot-Spaceship Earth, Test Track, Maelstrom
HS-ToT, Rock n Rollercoaster,

Disneyland-Alice in Wonderland
California Adventure- California Screamin', ToT
We are going to San Diego in January and I am trying to find a way to convince DH to go to DL for a day. :scratchin

I lost a little over one pound this week. :cool1:

I started Zumba class last night. It was really fun and a great change of pace for my cardio.
I have plenty of healthy activities planed this weekend for DH and I. C25K run then a movie and dinner tonight, mini-golf, hiking and a picnic tomorrow. Sunday will probably be a rest day. I really need it!

Soooo...what do I do? I bought a new scale this week. My old scale never said the same thing if I stepped on it twice, and I hated that....it would be up to 3 lbs off! So I lost 3lbs this week, but I didn't really lose 3lbs, I really only lost a pound or 2. I am going to pm my new weight with the new scale since that is what I will be using from now on. :) Hope that is okay!

QOTD: Hmmmm...my favorite ride is any ride in Disney World! :thumbsup2 No, seriously, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Soarin! My all time favorite ride!!

I excercised a ton yesterday - gardening during the day, then in the evening I went for a 30 minute run and then played tennis with DH for about a half hour or so after. I was beat! Today is more strength training. Hope you are all having a great week!!

I wanted to be more active this challenge and then I don't update for 2 days! Well not much has been going on, eating hasn't been great, its always one meal or snack everyday that throws me off but i'm trying. I went to the grocery store and bought some fruit, they finally have nectarines back which i love! But i hate peaches!

i talked to a couple other managers about what happened the other day and they said i should really talk to HR about it. SO i'm thinking that over..we will see.

i went running yesterday. Well... "running" really, but it was 40 minutes of doing something so that's better than nothing. I will run again tomorrow, today i'm sore and i don't want to make it worse.

Right now im really tired so im going to take a nap before my mother gets home, because once that happens, its all over. I will check back in later

Quote of the Day

If you're always racing to the next moment, what happens to the one you are in? Enjoy the ride

Sorry I'm a little late to the party, busy day.
Going back to pg 29 so I can catch up.

BAMB!! -- Awesome that you were able to wear the heels. I can't wear heels due to my cerebral palsy. I'm constantly tripping over my own feet. If I had heels on and tripped I'd bust my butt, :lmao:

Okay, well as of yesterday I'm down 30.4 pounds since May 18, 2010!! :cheer2: Well, I told myself at the beginning of the year for each 10 pounds I lose I'm going to reward myself with something. I have yet to figure out what that is right now :lmao:. I'm still thinking, I just can't make up my flipping mind. I'm thinking Bob Harper's newest book but I keep going back and forth. Maybe a trip to World of Disney at DTD...

I peeked at the scale this morning and I'm less then 3 pounds from ONEDERLAND! AHHHH!!! The suspense is killing me!!!

Its been raining on and off here most of the day. I didn't fall asleep til the wee hours of the morning and was woke up from a dead sleep due to thunder. Yes, I may be almost 30 years old but I'm still a chicken when it comes to thunderstorms. I can't stand them. I'm going to get some strength training done later and just relax. I didn't get a whole lot done today.

I finally did however make some progress with the whole medical issue I've been dealing with. My doctor told me almost 2 weeks ago she thought I had PCOS (by looking at old test results my old GYNO did in TX). She referred me out to a reproductive endocrinologist. The closest one to my house was 30 miles and after calling their office 3 times over the course of the last week and a half NO ONE has gotten back to me.

I finally took the advice of a friend and called Tricare (military insurance) and complained and asked to be referred to someone else. The lady was very helpful and told me to go on the website and find a new RE, make an apt, call back and give the info to Tricare so they could change the referral. After a few minutes of helping me navigate through the website I found one.

The only problem? The closest one to my house is over 70 miles away (one way) in Tampa! OYE!! After talking with Alan and one of my friends whose also having fertility issues I've decided I'm calling the office in Tampa on Monday. Yes, I may have to drive over 100 miles RT but I want a diagnosis. I want to know what's wrong and get this ball rolling. I'll keep everyone posted and hopefully this office can help me. I did some googling and found the doctor's office and found out that she is the number 1 rated fertility specialist in the state. Fingers crossed that this works.

Yeah, stay away from the heels. You need your butt intact to work out! LOL

3 pounds to One-derland!! OMG, you are rockin' it girl!!! You'll be there soon and there is no turning back.
Glad you got Tricare involved in the RE. Driving 100 miles is worth it if they can help you. I will keep praying!!

Welcome to Healthy Habits Week 2: Main Street, USA

The wonderful feeling of seeing the castle
The smell of the bakery
Your child's first haircut
Grabbing a ride on the train
Meeting Mickey

What a great welcome to the Magic Kingdom!

Mini-Challenge #1: The bakery is calling your name. Breakfast is going to be off plan. Last week, you decided on the approach to take to lose weight or maintain your weight. Earn one point for following through with that plan on 5/7 days.

Example: Count WW points 5 of 7 days and earn 1 point.

Mini-Challenge #2: What trip down Main Street wouldn't be complete without using a Snack Credit for a bottle of water? Drink at least 48 oz. of water on 5/7 days.

Mini-Challenge #3: All that walking is great exercise! Did you make an exercise plan. Give yourself 1 point if you complete all of your planned exercise.

Mini-Challenge #4: I find Main Street relaxing. Perhaps its the excitement of the seeing the castle combined with knowing that I'm on vacation. Give yourself 1 point for spending time relaxing on 5/7 days.

Mini-Challenge #5: There's something about how the Magic Kingdom smells. I find it refreshing and welcoming. We're putting our laundry detergent to work. Give yourself 1 point for washing your personal sheets and making them small April fresh.

As always, please feel free to PM me with any questions or ask on the thread.

Please PM me your points out of 5 (ex: 4/5) for Week 1 by Monday, June 18 at 5 PM.

Have a great, op plan week everyone!

Crap, need to go find my notes for the last challenge and write these down. Don't let me forget!!!!

Pamela and Buffy~Typed you both PMs of the list and *poof* I lost it. When I tried to send the messages it told me some crazy excuse so it's gone. I'll have to do it again tomorrow. Sorry. I just don't have time to retype tonight.

Jill

I'll PM you my email, it might be better!

Hope the run was fun at least! (BTW, what kind of candy bar??:rolleyes1)

DD won a GREAT award last night!! DISTINCTION in AP Chemistry! SUPER, DUPER proud of her! She was afraid it was "just" going to be a gym award (although I told her I'd be proud of that as well). And despite getting started late, the ceremony wasn't painfully long. It was supposed to start at 7:30 but didn't actually start until about 8:05 pm.... but we were out of there by 9:15 pm.

Hershey bar. I loved it but then felt guilty the next day. LOL So we ran 3 miles today. It was horrible but it's on the books.

SEE, take that mean girl. She's so dang smart and mean girl is jealous!!!! But a gym award is nothing to throw stones at either. Your DD is awesome!
Congrats to DD!!! I will share the news with DS15 when I drag my butt upstairs.

Bowling decor is being cut from the Nifty 50's cartridge. Thankfully they had one bowling design on there and I laid it all out on the Gypsy so I just need to cut it and piece it together.
The bowling pins are empty beer bottles wrapped in white plastic table cloths and the red stripes are made from red electrical tape.

I'll post pics when I'm done.

**********************************

Good day today, just busy. DS11 got a positive diagnosis for Lyme Disease so I dropped the little kids off at school, took DS15 to school late (no exam 1st period so he didn't have to be there early), ran up to the DR got the scripts, ran back to Target dropped those off, got DS15 at noon, ran 3 miles at the green, got the little kids, back up to Target for the scripts and lunch at Panera, now I'm home.
I'm tired!!! And I have a wicked headache, I always get one when I run. I wonder if my breathing is wrong. Well, I'm sure it's wrong but I need to figure out why my head hurts so bad.

Trying to figure out what to have for dinner. I'm leaning towards pizza but $$ is low this paycheck so I might just send DH out for hot dog and buns and we'll have burgers and dogs. Gardenburger has some really yummy chipotle black bean burgers. They are awesome!!

Uggh. I had the same thing happen when I started the challenges back in 2010. My old scale was off by 6 pounds.:scared1: I am glad you figured it out early and have a more accurate number to work with. The nice thing, my new scale seems to be spot on with my dr's office, so no big shockers when I go there.:goodvibes

Buffy--I hope everything is ok with DS and the Lyme disease. It sounds like maybe you caught it early???

Rose I think he might have had it for a few years and just hasn't had symptoms or ones you can put off on something else. Right now it's just swollen knees. We thought it was growing pains but when they didn't go away I asked for an ortho referral. Dr decided we'll do the referral but just in case, let's test for Lyme.
Now DS15 had a high fever for 3 days and joint pain last week, saw the other DR in the office and he took the wait and see approach. So when my Dr got back in the office and did the test for DS11 I talked to them about testing DS15. He goes in for a blood draw Monday. DS11 has to take an antibiotic for 30 days, them hopefully he will be ok.

Okay I skimmed through the thread but between the TV and Rosco whining I wasn't really focusing,:lmao:. I'll go back later and post replies

QOTD:

MK: BTMRR

Epcot: None really, don't really like the park

HS: Tower of Terror

AK: Kilimajro Safari

I'm down 2 pounds since intial weigh in!! I'm 2.3 pounds away from ONEDERLAND :cheer2:

YIKES! Hopeing all goes well and they get better soon.

Well I am sitting in my ER awaiting heart echo results on my 13 yr old DS who passed out today  All the other tests are fine but they want a pediatric cardiologist to look at the echo and she can't until after 6....so we wait! Have been here for 5+ hrs already and she is going nuts!! Have plugged her in to all the electronics I can ;) and she is still driving my crazy!

Was going to go to Zumba tonight...so much for those plans...and you can imagine my diet in the hospital! I shared a few chicken strips with her over lunch and then ate an entire container of dried pineapple, banana's, papya, cranberries, dates and peanuts :headache:
can't wait to research the company and find out how many calories THAT was...

Oh my Jen!!! I hope everything is ok!!!

DS15 went through something similar. Turns out because he's a runner he has low blood pressure and a low resting heart rate. Put that together with the chronic nose bleeds in winter and you have a perfect storm for fainting spells. He has to be really careful when getting up to quick.

Keep us posted and we will continue to keep you guys in our prayers.
