Good morning!

I had a pretty good yesterday. Could have exercised more but my neighbor pulled in the common drive as I was power walking and she and I got to talking so when I finally started back up I didn't have a lot of time left to do what I wanted.

I did well with eating though and I am committed to do better with my exercise today. I didn't have an issue with carb cravings last night :cool1: , so that made me happy.

Have a great healthy day everyone!

Mary

Cobbler - thanks for the lecture. (I mean that in a good way!)

PRINCESS VIJA - Does taking the stairs count? I do nothing, until now. :)

Hi guys,

It took me awhile to read and catch up. Everyone sounds like they are doing great making the right chioices, trying to get some activities in and having a few bumps along the way. I had a rough week last week and I am doing WW well I figured the points out for a bottle of wine BOY DID I NEED IT!!! And yes I used all those points.. I weigh in today we shall see how good or bad it was for me.
Have a great day everyone,
Suzie

good morning!
i am so excited to be part of this BL5 challenge!! My head is so in it.... but my body on the other hand has a mind of it's own. I can't get it to cooperate. I really want to start exercising again... but instead i just sit here. I have some pretty bigs goals set this year for myself and i know i can reach them but I am such a procrastinator that they are too far away for me to worry about failing them yet.. I would like to be at my goal weight of 150 lbs by the time I turn 30 in October. I have about 35 lbs to lose. I am going to run the Philadelphia half marathon with my hubby this year and I want to finish in under 3 hours and actually run the whole thing. I am also leaning towards running the full marathon in Disney in January... i have run/walked the half the past 2 years (without proper training due to my procrastination) and have 2 donald medals... i really want that Mickey Medal!!! (it's all about the hardware!!) oh and we are also doing the Expedition Everest Challenge in Sept... where dh and I have to be a team for the 5K... dh can run circles around me, under 8 min. miles, while I am more 11 or 12 min miles. I need to increase my speed a little so I can at least try to keep up with him. He says he will turn it down a little for me but my all out run is like a brisk walk for him, lol...
Sorry for venting... I so don't want to fail at these things again!!

Right now the exercise I get is from chasing my daycare kids around and constantly running up and down the steps. I own a daycare that I run out of the lower level of my house. I am thinking of adding some sort of exercise program into our daily activities... I also have 3 kids of my own.
Everyday I say I want to get on the treadmill but I never do... today is the day! i am getting on it... even if I just walk for 30 minutes, I am going to do it!

Something new I am trying this week is a belly dancing class... it's just a 4 week class that I signed up for with 2 of my friends. It should be interesting! When the class is over... there is a Zumba class at my gym(which I haven't been to in forever) that I am interested in trying. As well as a Boot Camp class.

Thanks for listening to my ramblings... i know that by participating more will help me to be more motivated...

Morning Everyone!

It's great to get on here and see all the posts, it really helps motivate me so thanks! :thumbsup2

I joined a gym yesterday, it's pretty no-frills but I like it. I'm not so much into the social hour meat-market gyms that are everywhere around here. I bit the bullet and signed up for personal training for the next three months. My knees are in horrible shape and the General Manager who worked with me yesterday was really helpful. I'm petrified of going down the knee replacement path my Mom has.

So...Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays I'll be there for an hour each day with the trainer. I'm nervous, I tend to get really self conscious with this kind of stuff, especially one on one with someone paying such close attention to me. Thankfully the place was full of "regular" people so it wasn't horribly intimidating. I meet my regular trainer tomorrow morning at 6 am. (ack) Getting there in time will be an issue in itself.

I've been eating a lot of the WW Smart Ones meals, I really do like them. I'm having Mexican for lunch with a friend today so I'm hoping to make smart decisions. I have a weakness for chips and salsa.

Good luck to everyone today!!

Good morning all!!!

For a new activity I am going to try a stretch & tone class at the Ymca today. I have added a 30 min walk at lunchtime since the weather is nice.

I work with a trainer at the Y 3 days a week. (Best money I have ever spent on my self) We call her Jillian!!!:yay: She doesn't really watch biggest loser so she doesn't know who Jillian is, but she sure can push us like Jillian would!!!
It is good and keeps me accountable for exercise because I know she will be there waiting for me. Now I just need to keep up the extra cardio on my own, which is the hard part for me. I can always find an excuse not to do it.

I am doing Jenny Craig so my eating has been pretty good. Thankfully last night was my last bowling night for the season so hopefully those wasted calories on beer will go away.

Good luck everyone and keep up the good work!

Hello fellow losers!

I'm having an OK week - my exercise hasn't been quite what it needs to be but I've had a cold and I just can't run very well with coughing fits. However, that's not a great excuse because I could do something other than just run. That's a trap I tend to fall into easily - I love to run but I don't do much else. I ran a couple of marathons years ago and I just cringe to see those pictures - flabby arms & all! Jeez, would it have killed me to do a few push-ups?

So, my new-ish activity this week is to do some good ol' strength training in addition to my mileage. I plan to hit the gym at least once more and then do some stuff at home with some dumbbells.

My eating - also some ups & downs. Overall my calorie count for the day is good, I think, but I'm not making the best choices. I've been doing weight watchers for a few months and have lost 20, but the past few weeks I've stalled because I've quit tracking what I eat. That's my next goal - getting back on track with eating right - not just eating less, but eating the right things.

One good thing happened last week - I went to my doctor and let me tell ya, I was the Star Patient of the Day! :cool1: He's a HUGE proponent of diet & exercise as the first line of treatment for most anything. I've been having some elevated blood pressure and he's been warning me that without some changes, he'll have to actually diagnose me as hypertensive, which then follows you forever! Soooooo - he was SO pleased with my weight loss and exercise plan - I'm off the medication and my blood work was fantastic. YAY me!

We leave for the beach in 4.5 weeks and my mini-goal is to lose 10 by then.

As far as the challenge goes, what is everyone doing for trying out new exercises?

I am working out on my husbands exercise bike. So far so good, I got 5 1/2 miles yesterday! Today I am going to walk to the boys piano lesson and around the park a few times afterwards. The walking isn't new, but the bike is!

I should do some stairs too... maybe later. :)

I am having a good week for the most part. I overslept yesterday, so I missed pilates, but I did run yesterday after work and I was THRILLED with my ability. My running has come so far in the last few weeks! This morning I took a new class before work. It is called Body Pump and boy did it hurt. My muscles sort of tingle at this point. They are warning me that the pain will be coming. I will have to pop a pain pill before bed, since I really need to go to pilates tomorrow since I missed Mondays class. Tomorrow is a running day after work. I am supposed to run two miles straight. Wish me luck on that one!

As for the "for the most part" part of my week, my weight went up slightly today from last Tuesday. it is only .2, but I really wanted to be down by quite a bit this week (hoping for 2 or 2.5 lbs). And to make matters worse, I am part of a real life BL group and you have to pay....yes pay:eek: ...a dollar a pound that you gain. .2 can easily equal a lb gain when you factor in the weight of clothes and how much food I have in my stomach at weigh in. I am nervous. I am not paying those people! :headache:

I am so excited about being part of this group! It is just what I need.

I have been working out and changing my eating habits for the past 4+ weeks. Also, I quit smoking 6 weeks ago! I signed up with a fitness trainer at my gym and see him 2 times a week. I've only lost a few pounds so far, but I can see big changes in my body - the way it looks and how it feels!! I have more confidence in myself than I did a month ago.

I have a long journey ahead of me... But I'm excited about it.

My age is 42.8, but my real age is 41.3!!

I did the stairmaster at the gym this morning for 20 minutes! That was new...and exhausting!!

I tried my new Jillian Michaels DVD, Shred last Sunday. I liked it a lot and will use it the days I can't get to the gym.

I made a big ol' fruit salad this morning, enough to last a few days.

I also am having my eggplant bruschetta that I made the other day, with two dark whole wheat slices of toast for lunch today. It is delicious! I got the recipe from the Biggest Loser Cookbook.

I have to get ready for work. Hang in there everybody!! We can do this together!!!

I went for a walk during my lunch break today - anyone know how many blocks equal a mile (Arlington, VA) - I know it can vary wthin cities. I did 12 blocks. Did I make a mile? :confused3

Additionally, I walked up the stairs (2 flights) when I got back to the building :thumbsup2

Will go to the driving range tonight and swing some golf clubs - I'm playing 18 on Sunday and will walk as much as possible. Hang in there everyone - we are almost done with week 1  <--- I did eat one of these this morning :lmao:

Good afternoon
I did 5 miles on my walk this morning, does it make a difference that I push a jogging stroller with a 21lb. baby?

I have a question, it has been a while since I've been to the gym, what is Zumba???
Also, is anyone doing the disney 1/2 Marathon in January?

Have a great Tuesday.

I had a good workout today, just like I promised myself I would. I did 35 minutes on the elliptical and then another 40 minutes on the crosstrainer. It's amazing that once I get going, I actually look forward to my workouts. That's something I never dreamed I would say a year ago.

I'm planning on trying a step class for my new exercise this week. I've heard a lot about it but it's not something I've tried before.

Hope everyone has a fantastic day! :)

I love the step classes. I don't like exercising by myself so it goes by really quickly. The machines are just no fun to me. I have a cardio sculpt class and pilates tonight.

have a great day.

Good for you quitting smoking and getting in shape!

I just ordered that Jillian Michaels DVD, 30 day Shred (or whatever it's called) - you like it? I needed something shorter to fit into my day, so I'm hoping that DVD will give me a 30 minute "beating" that will be equivalent to a longer workout.

Good afternoon

I'm not sure if all classes are the same, but this is the description for the Zumba class I'm going to tonight:

Zumba (all levels): Zumba is a fusion of Latin and International
music - dance themes creating a dynamic, exciting, effective
fitness system! The routines feature aerobic/fitness interval
training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone
and sculpt the body. Zumba utilizes the principals of fitness
interval training and resistance training to maximize caloric
output, fat burning and total body toning. It is a mixture of
body sculpting movements with easy to follow dance steps.

I showed the girls at work my real-age rec. I rec'd...and they said I need to retake the test. For one thing...it said I need to floss my teeth more...and I work at a dentist office and floss everyday...what's up with that??:confused3 And even tho I marked that I take a multi-vitamin, and each lots of veggies and fruit.......it says I need more vitamins and I need to eat more veggies!
Oh well....I'll go home tonight a very diligently retake it and see what happens.

I just wondered if anyone else rec'd any strange results from real-age??

I took 8 flights of stairs today instead of taking the elevator. I went from the 1st to the 3rd floor at school for a total of 59 stairs. Then I went from the 1st to the 3rd floor in the parking ramp for a total of another 40 stairs.

Christopher and I just photographed a toddler for about an hour... Does that count as an hour of running? :thumbsup2

I just took my first Zumba class Sunday. It's basically a salsa dancing class... What a workout! It was an hour long with no breaks. (execpt for maybe 1 minute between songs) I was soaked when I was done. A lot of fun too.:woohoo:
