A big old welcome to Cassie from me too! I just love your folks! They sure do know how to keep us all laughing.

BTW...Congrats on the engagement! :lovestruc

Hi everyone....

Realage....I'm 3.4 years "older" than my actual age. I need to do way better on fitness and exercise and get my BMI way down. No real surprises there, but I did like answering that I was happily married  .

As for fitting in my exercise, that is actually my number one challenge in the whole process. In the 5 years of being a mom, I have not found one single, consistent time for me to get my workouts in. If I wake up early to workout, DS wakes up too (I swear he has a radar) and he needs his sleep. I try to do it in the evenings, but we all know how that goes sometimes - after getting everyone up and out the door, working 8 hours, coming home, cooking, dishes, laundry....I don't always have the energy.

I am determined to make progress though - I'm going to start a Zumba class tomorrow night - we'll see how it goes. I love latin music and dancing, so I'm hoping I will like it. Any other ideas would be welcomed...

I did take the stairs today (3 flights!) and so far diet-wise I am 100% on track. Everyone have a good rest of the day!

Cassie - nice to "meet" you!

I'm one of the crazy DISers that cruised with your parents last October...good to see you here.

And don't let them fool ya' - they brag about you all the time!

Have a good week!

Hi! It's good to "meet" you, too! It's nice to be able to get to know the people my parents talk about all the time :thumbsup2

Good luck

Thank you :goodvibes That's him on my avatar (with our free apple cobblers from the restaurant next to American Adventure :cool1: )

Yeah, I like my parents too I guess ;) I wish we didn't have to be so far away. Christopher and I have done nothing but talk about how we need to take another weekend to visit them :flower3:

SWIMSUIT Update.....Well, my delivery came and I couldn't resist I had to try the new "Mickey" suit on. First , ladies...don't ever let your DH pick out a swimsuit for you.....NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU LOVE MICKEY MOUSE! Secondly.......the suit was not only b*tt ugly....it was at least 2 sizes too big! So thank goodness I have a great excuse to return it...ASAP!!
But, I did order the white terry (hooded) coverup from Disney ( on sale for $14.99) and it's really comfy and cute!

As I work on this week's challenge....I realize my biggest issue is scheduling my physical activity. My DH works afternoons....so this should not be a big issue.
But, I tend to be a procrastinator and get involved with other things....like sitting on my behind at the computer ( Like I'm doing right now!). My goal is to complete 10-15 min. of body toning exercises every other night. And, I would like to locate a good cardio video to try on the alternate nights. I have also made a goal to complete my workouts by 8:00pm each evening. I am usually home from work by 6:30pm...so this should give me plenty of time!

I'm still working on the walking part. We live in the country and DH doesn't like the idea of me walking our road.....since it is a narrow, winding river road...with lots of kids taking the curves way too fast! I may have to devote part of my lunch ( at work) to walking time.

PS....just ate supper...a moose burger with no bun and a side salad. I will save my fruit for after my workout. BTW....I would not rec. moose burgers to anyone, no matter how healthy....they taste like beef,...but the texture is more like sawdust...bleh!!

Ok all....I need some extra motivation here! I did the realage test ( which I posted a few days ago). I don't have the stair option at work...so I quess I'll be hopping up at each comercial break and running up and down my basement stairs, for a few night anyways!

I have been really watching my WW points. I went on prevention.com and comprised a whole body toning work out.....which I call the 10X10!. This website has great fitness inform. and videos to show you exactly how the exercises should be done. When my son was wrestling in high school....they used to do a workout called the 10X10. It is basically 10 body toning exercises which are done in sets of 10....one right after the other...completed within 10 mins. These are to be done every other day to allow the body to re-coop. I also stretch out before I start. Anyways........
After my first workout on Friday, my thighs and "behind" were so sore......I had to hold onto the vanity....just to try and sit on the toilet. :lmao: :lmao:
Even tho I was still a bit sore, I did my workout last night, even added 50 crunches with my exercise ball. Well.....as of this morning.....I have gained 2 lbs. What's up with that???? I vow I won't quit....but it is a bit depressing. I will admit, I was surprised at the scales, because the all over body training has made me feel firmer.

Any suggestions????? :confused3 :confused3

You may gain weight at first. Like the previous poster said your body may retain what you give it until it realizes you won't put it into starvation mode. The 1200 calorie a day minimum is there to maintain the body's life functions. You need 1200 calories a day just to do absolutely nothing - so your body can live - don't go below 1200.

Also with strength training you will build muscle and most people gain muscle faster than they burn the fat. Now I am sure you have heard the whole analogy of muscle weighing more than fat - which can be another reason for weight gain.

Of course a lb of muscle = a lb of fat but that analogy is what most people understand. Muscle is actually denser than fat - hence the whole analogy.

Here is a good way to look at it. 5lbs of fat takes up as much space as 3 grapefruit while 5lbs of muscle will take up the space of 5 tangerines. Which would you rather have your body. Every lb of muscle burns an extra 30-50 calories a day over the same amount of fat. So we want muscle, besides it gives us that long lean shape.

Of course we want cardio to for the extra calorie burning and cardiovascular health. The perfect combo is actually a cardio+weight workout, or cardio+sculpt. Intervals of weight training and cardio.

So don't be discouraged, just know that you may gain weight initially and this is why but it will melt off. I like to ask, would you rather be 140 and a size 10 or 140 and a size 6??

Hope that helps

Good morning!

Sorry for my lack of posting yesterday.
I did pretty well. Chicken noodle soup, cheese sandwich (I know I should've eaten more, but I didn't seem to have an appetite :confused3 )

We just got an oven put in today :woohoo: That means more cooking and less fast food.

It's very nice today, so we'll be playing tennis at 5 :yay:

Make sure you eat enought Tootie or your body will go into starvation mode. :thumbsup2 Keep it up... you're doing great. :goodvibes

You go girl!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I've been inspired...I'm going to try out the Zumba class they're offering at the Y tomorrow night. They only have it once a week (the one I can go to anyway) but I'm going to try it!

I'm feeling a little soreness in my waist today. Obviously, I don't exercise those muscles enough. But it was fun. We even did a little belly dancing. :woohoo:

I was at the gym at 4:55 this morning.
When I got home, the birds were singing. Sounded like spring. :)

Got my results. My Real Age is 2 years younger than my Calendar age. Looks like I have a lack of sleep, driving a small car, and a bad exercise routine on my negative side. Can't do much about the first two but I'll be working on the exercise routine for sure.:flower3:

I'm busting out the pedometer for tomorrow when I go back to work. I'm aiming for at least 10,000 steps each day. :yay:

I just PMd my starting weight...only 3 days late! (my mother showing up always manages to through of my schedule! LOL) On the plus side, my doc told me today I'd dropped 3 lbs. since last week!! Haven't gotten my real age yet...litle scared. I'm hitting the gym first thing in the morning...Mom or not. :rolleyes1

Hi everyone! Wow, is this an active thread, it took me a while to catch up tonight. I did pretty good with food today, and I have been getting in my mile walks. TaeKwonDo went well tonight. I love that class! And in warm ups when everyone else ran, I would walk, well today I pushed myself and did a very slow jog. Very proud of myself!

Real age...not so good. Calendar age is 39.4 and real age is 44.4. Oooops 5 years older. I guess I am not surprised, and in fact I guess I thought it would be higher. I am going to redo it in 3 months and see if I improved on it. things I am doing right...Happy marriage! :cool1: , parents relationship  , good sleep levels, daily breakfast, nonsmoker. Things to improve: flossing habits, vegetable intake, fruit intake, daily vitamin, flexibility exercises, high BMI, strength training.

I fit in activity by walking and playing with our dog. I also like to take family walks. I also do TaeKwonDo 2x a week. I will be doing more with adding in video workouts as well. Now that the weather is nicer I love getting out for daily walks. Not sure how I will fit in workouts when I start my new job, but I figure I will also be on my feet more, so that will be adding in a workout as well!

The dvd, dancing with the stars- cardio dance, has 4 different dances- the cha-cha, samba, paso doble, and the jive, that are separated into 10 minute segments, with a warm up and cool down.

Thanks for the info! I'll have to keep my eyes our for this DVD

I ate about 5 cookies' worth of dough..on my FIRST day!!! :headache: :headache: :headache: :headache:

How am I going to do this???

Hang in there... you will do this one day at a time. We will support you as you go!

I use the old trick of brushing my teeth and then chewing mint gum if it gets really bad. If I just cant take it anymore, I go to bed early. It doesn't always work, but it does make it easier.

Oh and that was big news....my fiancé and I *are* getting married in September. We decided a while back that eloping was just easier for us. Now you see, we are headed to Mexico in July for a friends wedding. My fiancé suggested, we head down there a little early and get married on the beach. That sounds wonderful, but now I am getting married in 12 weeks!

LOVE that strategy, of brushing your teeth! Way to go!

And congrats on the wedding news. That is fantastic. You'll be looking fantastic in 12 weeks, I just know it!

Good Tuesday Morning. I can't catch up now because I have to finish grades this morning.

I did get up and walked another mile. That is 3 morning in a row.

Will check in later after I finish grades.

Have a magical losing day pixiedust: pixiedust:

Morning everyone

Didn't make the gym this morning...:confused3 I just couldn't get up.
I guess I'll be hitting it after work instead.

Went to the nursing home to see my parents; that always makes for a sleepless night. I better start hitting the tylenol PM on those nights.

Catch you all after work.

Have a slim day. :thumbsup2

Good Morning!

I didn't make it to the gym yesterday, had a killer headache and just decided to bail on my workout. Made me feel a little guilty but just couldn't shake the headache and figured it would be better to hit the gym when I felt better. I'm much better this morning and planning to head to the gym in another hour or so. One good thing about yesterday, eating was really good, so that sort of made up for no workout, I guess.

I'm actually looking forward to weigh in on Friday, I think I may have a pretty good loss this week. Hope everyone has a great day :)

As far as the challenge goes, what is everyone doing for trying out new exercises?

This morning I decided to bring out my old Richard Simmons VHS tapes for strength training. I always enjoyed his aerobics videos so I thought I'd try this one from years ago. I also have his cassette of Walk Across America. now I just have to find someone with a cassette walkman.:rotfl2:

No good reason to exercise while you have a headache. It would probably only make it much worse. You'll do just fine the rest of the week. You did mention that the eating part was good so you're well on your way.:yay:

Is Sully missing you Robin??;)

(P.S....I got your package yesterday for Tony. I'll pass it on.:) )

As far as the challenge goes, what is everyone doing for trying out new exercises?

This one is kind of hard because I've tried a few things in my day...

I am going to a Zumba class tonight at my local Y, and I have a yoga video that I bought and never tried. Still trying to think of more...

Good Morning "losers"!

Hope everyone's doing ok so far! Yesterday I did pretty well diet-wise, but didn't get exercise in. Tonight I'm going to an exercise class, so that will work out ok.

Here's some cheers and pixie dust for all my BL buddies!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Wow, this thread is so busy. I did read through all the posts, and everyone is doing so great. Very inspiring.

I did my realage and my calendar age is 44.2, but my real age is 41.9. I'm working on getting the bmi down, and the other main things that I think I will be able to do is floss more, increase my vegetable intake, and increase calcium and vitamins.

I haven't tried a new exercise yet, but tomorrow I will go on to on demand and try something new. It is hard to fit in activity daily, but since january, I have started getting up 30-60 minutes before my son, and doing one of leslie sansone's watp videos. It definitely gets my day started on a healthier note. I'm trying to do it 6 days/ week. Now that the weather is nicer here, I get out of work two days a week at 2pm, so I try to walk or bike to pick up my son. It's a mile to his school. I have a trailer bike for him, which makes my bike a tandem, and he's safe behind me, so it's fun. He just started baseball too, and we've been to the park to practice. Of course he loves to hit, so I do a lot of chasing balls.

I definitely feel like I'm doing well in the exercise dept, and if I could just curb my appetite, I might lose some weight.;) We went to the zoo yesterday, and I did not make any smart snack choices. Today's a new day, I did a 4 mile watp, and had a healthy breakfast, and I'm hoping to stay on track.

Wezee- Hang in there with the exercise. I remember hearing that when you first start exercising and using muscles again, that they tend to swell and retain water, so I'm sure that is part of your weight gain. I know when I first started exercising, and was eating good, I lost much slower than I expected, but even though it didn't show right away on the scale, it definitely showed quicker in the way my clothes fit. Sounds like the mickey suit was a big hit! Too funny. The cover up sounds cute. Might have to check it out.

Tart Annihilater- hugs to you on visiting your folks. It is so hard to watch our parents get old. My mom has been in and out of the hosp and nursing home for rehab 6 times since christmas. It is so stressful. And I'm a stress eater. I wonder why the weight isn't coming off? I haven't tried the tylenol pm, usually a good cry before bed will put me right to sleep.:rotfl:

Have a great day everyone!! It is beautiful here and expected to hit 75 degrees!!!! And i have the day off!!
