Apparently my RealAge is 35.1 while my calendar age is 31.8. Reading the results, I'm not sure how accurate that is for me though. One negative was asthma control, but I'm sure that is due to using no meds, but on the other hand, I don't need them right now. It also says I need to improve my strength training and exercise plan, but what I do fits in with their suggestions. I must have filled something in wrong there. Either way, I do need to work on adding some more good things to my diet - fruits, veggies, omega3s, etc.

As for how I include activity in everyday, DD and I go for a walk most evenings. I would love to be able to exercise in the morning, but I find that when I do I'm dragging mid-day. I'm sure part of that is how and when I eat, but since eating much early in the day usually doesn't settle well, I eat more noon to 6pm, thus have better energy for exercise later. We've also started walking to some of our errands - Target, church stuff, park. Next addition is the library trek. It's about 3 miles each way, but should be a nice walk.

I am in a great deal of discomfort!! I started lunge walking this week after reading about it on this board. Apparently these are muscles I NEVER use!! I'm not doing great with watching what I eat, but not as bad as usual. Definately increasing my excercise. Ya'know, if I can't walk (due to lunge walking thigh pain), I can't get to the fridge! I guess that's one way to lose weight!:goodvibes

I use the old trick of brushing my teeth and then chewing mint gum if it gets really bad. If I just cant take it anymore, I go to bed early. It doesn't always work, but it does make it easier.

That's a good idea about brushing your teeth! Thanks, I will try that.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! That sounds like a romantic and exciting way to do it.

Just do the best you can for the next 12 weeks, and try to live as healthy as possible. That's all you can do. I'm sure you will look great.

Mary

If you are having trouble with carbs late at night, try to eat some protein. A stick of cheese with a piece of fruit can help curb the craving. If you are truly hungry, you should eat. Perhaps you should try to eat more at your last meal to get you through the night.

For me I eat, breakfast, a snack, lunch, a snack, and dinner, and a snack. My night snack is usually cheese and apple, or yogurt with granola and strawberries, a small cup of cereal or banana and peanut butter. My meals I try to keep around 400 calories and my snacks under 200. I balance it throughout the day for a total of 1600 calories.

I don't feel truly hungry, but I find myself just craving something starchy or chocolaty anyway. Chocolate is an issue for me. The Slimfast shakes help somewhat with that, but sometimes I just want to munch. I think I will try some cheese and fruit and brush my teeth afterward.

These are all great tips.

Good Morning, and Happy Monday everyone!

I will read back and catch up on everyone a bit later today, but I had to come and say hi, and give everyone a big :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: to get through the day!

I'm feeling pretty good this morning...I packed breakfast and lunch to take to work (I eat breakfast at work so I can sit down and enjoy it) and I got my main course for dinner in the crockpot before I left the house. I took the stairs this morning (3 flights).

Have a good day everyone - I'll check back later!

The cheese tip is from my WW leader. She says cheese (for some reason) can help eliminate the carb craving and even the sweet craving. She recommended a sharp cheddar. It's been working for me. My cravings are in the afternoon, so I have a stick of cheddar cheese and some baby carrots or celery. I hope it works for you too!

Good morning!

Sorry for my lack of posting yesterday.
I did pretty well. Chicken noodle soup, cheese sandwich (I know I should've eaten more, but I didn't seem to have an appetite :confused3 )

We just got an oven put in today :woohoo: That means more cooking and less fast food.

It's very nice today, so we'll be playing tennis at 5 :yay:

Hi Cassie. It's Lori. Glad to "meet" you. You will get to know me much better soon since your mom and dad are coming to live in my basement.:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Seriously, good luck to ya. We can do it!

Hi Lori! Good to "meet" you too, I hear about you Dis-ers all the time!

Happy Monday!

I am off to a good start today. Like lilsweetpea, I also eat breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, sometimes snack. My snack is usually a protein - nuts or cheese. I find protein keeps my satisfied longer.

I am very sedentary, so I started talking the stairs at work today. Down only for now, it's a start. Once I drop some weight, I'll add going up, too.

Time for lunch - nice fresh, crispy salad with chicken!

Hi,

I'm a little late posting since this thread was started on Friday but better late than never ;) I did the Real Age quiz and turns out, I'm a little younger than I thought. My calendar age is 33, the quiz showed my age at 31.6, so that's pretty good.

This weekend wasn't best with eating but it could have and has been much worse in the past. I had a lot to do this morning so didn't make it to the gym but planning on at least 60-65 minute workout this evening.

Hope everyone has a great day! :)

Ok all....I need some extra motivation here! I did the realage test ( which I posted a few days ago). I don't have the stair option at work...so I quess I'll be hopping up at each comercial break and running up and down my basement stairs, for a few night anyways!

I have been really watching my WW points. I went on prevention.com and comprised a whole body toning work out.....which I call the 10X10!. This website has great fitness inform. and videos to show you exactly how the exercises should be done. When my son was wrestling in high school....they used to do a workout called the 10X10. It is basically 10 body toning exercises which are done in sets of 10....one right after the other...completed within 10 mins. These are to be done every other day to allow the body to re-coop. I also stretch out before I start. Anyways........
After my first workout on Friday, my thighs and "behind" were so sore......I had to hold onto the vanity....just to try and sit on the toilet. :lmao: :lmao:
Even tho I was still a bit sore, I did my workout last night, even added 50 crunches with my exercise ball. Well.....as of this morning.....I have gained 2 lbs. What's up with that???? I vow I won't quit....but it is a bit depressing. I will admit, I was surprised at the scales, because the all over body training has made me feel firmer.

Any suggestions????? :confused3 :confused3

Your gain is not surprising. Hate to tell you, but you may gain a little more. Your body will hold onto calories when you begin some new exercise, until it understands that it will get enough food for fuel. Make sure to eat at least 1200 calories a day (not sure what points that is) and drink all your water. When those two lbs fall off they will take "friends" with them! :thumbsup2

Hi all!!! :wave2:

I didn't have a very good food day yesterday :sad2:
I ate a hotdog w/ some Doritoes for lunch, and then had a cheeseburger for dinner :guilty: I definitly didn't feel as energized as I have been with this heavy food in me. Oh well, that was yesterday, and today is today :thumbsup2 My menu for today was Special K w/ skim milk & a banana for breakfast, 1 string cheese for a snack, 1/2 of turkey sandwich w/ mustard on whole grain bread, fat free pretzels, and strawberries for lunch, and then a Lean Cuisine panini w/ baked Lays, and a fat free yogart for dinner. So this is a good food day for me!!!:woohoo:

I went out and walked w/ some jogging for 2 miles this morning - I love starting my day out with this. There's something about that fresh air that just energizes me for the rest of the day

wezee - Try and not get to discouraged  What you see on the scale can really ruin your day. The last time I committed to weight loss, I became totally obsessed with the scale - this was not good :sad2: So now I concentrate on what the fabric tape measure says, more than what the scale says. Try to only weigh yourself on Fridays for you weigh in, and this way you won't get as discouraged.
*Now you mentioned that you feel firmer - that's an awesome thing!!!!:woohoo: That may be muscle weight, which you should be really proud of :yay: !! My only suggestion about how to lose more weight is to examine your food a little more closely, try to drink more water, and maybe do a couple different exercises, because your body could easily get used to the same thing. Good luck!!!!:wizard:

Well, I gotta run and get back to work
Have a good rest of the day everyone!!!!

I have a 2:30 appointment with the new gym in town to see how I like it and what they offer. It's a "no-frills" kind of place and I'm nervous. I just hope it's not a meat market or a pushy sales kinda thing.

Feeling a bit better thanks to you guys. I order a new bathing suit (from Disney..with Mickey on it, he he) and it's suppose to be delivered today. Not a good thing ! So when it comes....I think maybe I should not try it on for a few days....maybe it will be my reward, if the scale blesses me on Friday.

Also I'm not good at pushing my water on the weekends.....and am working on that!

After a few weeks on this workout....I will change things around so I won't get bored. My goal was to add all over body toning...that could be done in 10-15 min. On the off days I will try to add other activites...like today I mowed the lawn.

Good Monday All!!
I've had a lot on today, but managed a short 3 mile walk.
As for something new, I am trying to work up my courage to go the the gym at Mimi Univ. It is just hard for me to participate in a class where most of the participants are under 23, and around 100lbs. I am twice their size. I must get over this.

Wedding done and over with. Now focusing on this challenge. I did my realage test and still waiting for results.

I started up my Leslie Sansone walking DVD's this morning for my new activity.

Took a walk to return a naughty little puppy who loves to wander away from his home and hang around ours. (.75 miles one way).

No stair climbing at all since my legs are still sore from all that crazy dancing I did at the wedding.

Extra activity this week at work will to personally walk deliveries to customers in our industrial park. That should rack up a few more activity points for me.

We also live on almost 2 acres of land and have 14 trees in the yard. I'll be helping to rake up the yard this week to burn leaves this weekend.

Whew! I think I need a nap already. :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Hey everyone! This is Tart Annihilator and Dyerneed's daughter.

Here are my results:

Calender age: 20.9
RealAge: 18.9 :cool1: (take that, Tart)

I honestly have no idea how I managed that... I have terrible eating habits! But i guess that all changes now

My goal is 15 pounds. Wouldn't it be nice if I made it by the big 2-1 :thumbsup2

Cassie - nice to "meet" you!

I'm one of the crazy DISers that cruised with your parents last October...good to see you here.

And don't let them fool ya' - they brag about you all the time!

Have a good week!

Davismom.

I am right with you. I go to the gym on base and there are nights I have twenty years on these kids. They are all fit because in the airforce they have to be. Some of the classes have some mature bodies like me, bit most are young and skinny. I don't let it bother me any more.

So hang in there and keep it up.

I'm pretty proud of myself... I think this BL thread has inspired me.

I went to that B-day party and didn't even have cake. :yay:

That's the first time I have passed up junk food in months.

I think this is the start of something great. :dance3:

Thank You everyone. :thumbsup2

You go girl!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I've been inspired...I'm going to try out the Zumba class they're offering at the Y tomorrow night. They only have it once a week (the one I can go to anyway) but I'm going to try it!
