Well if it keeps up and this is not a once in a time kind of thing, I would call and make an appointment. GB problems act differently with us :rolleyes:
They do start out with that feeling you were explaining but get much worse if you let it go too long.
The latest research shows the majority of bypass post ops end up having to have it removed... one of the biggest side effects after surgery... oh joy huh?

It might not be acid in your pouch but rather a blockage of EWWW gall!
If this was a one time event, I wouldn't worry but if it keeps happening... get an U/s. I had a u/s pre op and no problems. three months later I had really major stones and had to have it all removed... it can happen FAST.:flower3:

Well, if that's the case, they ought to automatically take out the GB when they do the bypass!!

Well, if that's the case, they ought to automatically take out the GB when they do the bypass!!

Some Dr's do remove the GB during bypass as a precaution. I had the option and decided since mine was fine at the time I would leave it where it was. Of course 3 months later I was going back under to have it yanked out :sad2:

This was not common practice when you had your surgery though...
new stuff comes out all the time and I wasn't sure if you were aware of this ever growing issue with it. It has nothing to do with the surgery itself~
GB disease shows up because of the massive weight loss. Here is a list of high risk cases:
Who Is at Risk for Gallstones?

* Women.

* People over age 60.

* Native Americans.

* Mexican-Americans.

* Overweight men and women.

# People who fast or lose a lot of weight quickly.

# Pregnant women, women on hormone therapy, and women who use birth control pills.

I am sure you fit in a few of these risk factors... thats why I mentioned it :upsidedow

Who Is at Risk for Gallstones?

* Women. That would be me

* People over age 60.Not yet!!!

* Native Americans. Well, my family has been here since the 1630s--well before the country became America. Does that make me a Native American?? :lmao:

* Mexican-Americans. No

* Overweight men and women. OH, YEAH!!

# People who fast or lose a lot of weight quickly. I think I qualify here!

# Pregnant women, NO!!!!
women on hormone therapy, Nope
and women who use birth control pills. Not anymore, but I took them for over 20 years...

In Nursing school, we were taught "fair, fat & forty" Pretty well sums me up! Might be time for another US. Just what I need, ANOTHER surgery!!!! :scared:

Good Monday Morning.

SOrry I have been missing. First dress rehersal for Beauty and the Beast took place last night. I spent all day Sat at ds2's school working on costumes. There is still more to do but unofficial opening is Thursday with a Gala Opening on Friday night. Last night I got in just before the end of the Oscars so ds and I sat with dh and watched the end to see best director and best picture. Dh is the only one in the family who saw the movie. He thought it was intense and very gory. He hated the ending.

I am going to take a pass on weighing in tomorrow morning. My ankle is very swollen and I am having a hard time walking especially in the morning. It almost feels like when I had bone spurs a few years ago but this is on the side of my ankle. I may brace it tonight and see if that helps it. If not I will call my podiatrist to look at tomorrow.

Have a magical losing day everyone.pixiedust: pixiedust:

Don't forget weigh in tomorrow morning. CHallenge ends tomorrow night. I can guarantee that I will not be the winner for that. :crazy2: :crazy2:

Hang in there Amanda, you are doing such a good job don't give up. We are going to be a smaller bunch in Sept!!!

morning everyone..hope you all had a great OP weekend!

what do i do for myself??? well i really enjoy scrapbooking and i sneak down to my corner in the basement, turn on some music and just lose a couple hours. i have been consciously choosing to do just that during my peak "HEAD HUNGER" time of the afternoon...like that term that definately fits!

praline -- mani and pedi = 10 pts :teeth:

i gotta do my pedi tonight, i need it horribly but i have 3 blisters right now. darn new shoes tied too tight. is a pedi a terribly bad idea with blisters?

for walking/running program suggestions -- I follow John Bingham's Marathoning for Mortals program to train for a 1/2. everytime and it works for me. however i don't know that it is best for total newbies? here's a link to his 'getting started' article http://www.johnbingham.com/get_started.html key things to remember -- get fitted for quality shoes at a running store, increase by no more than 10% of your total mileage per week, load up your ipod with some good rhythm peppy songs :) the Events subboard would be a great place to search, read up, or ask about starting up. everyone there is super knowledgable and super friendly ::yes::

Just what I need, ANOTHER surgery!!!!

GB surgery is one of the easy ones! They don't even keep you overnight in the hospital anymore :cheer2: You usually can have it friday morning and are back to work on Monday. mine was done out patient :flower3: I didn't mean to worry you, but you were describing the symptoms I had at first when I was having trouble with mine. With bypass patients, GB is the first cuprit Dr's look at.

I am going to take a pass on weighing in tomorrow morning.
Donna, glad to meet you :grouphug:
I am sorry to hear about your ankle. I suffer from a bum knee, not the same but I know how it feels to be out of the loop working out while trying to lose weight:rolleyes: . You really should STILL weigh in! It's important for you to keep up the habit of doing it. Not all weeks are we supposed to lose 5lbs! The bad weeks make the good weeks better!!!!:cheer2: Just add a note to your weight loss journal that your ankle was being naughty and you will be emotionally fine to handle that weigh in. :p If you quit weighing in this week it will be easier to quit weighing in next week.. and the week after... and then it will be harder to get on that scale. Don't worry, we won't come over there and twist your ankle because you didn't lose anything :rotfl: you sew? That is sooo cool! I wish I could. I just bought a couple of custom Disney outfits on ebay this week for my DD and I's trip this summer. It would have been much cheaper to be able to sew them myself :joker:

i have been consciously choosing to do just that during my peak "HEAD HUNGER" time of the afternoon...like that term that definately fits!
I love the idea! When head hunger strikes... run as far from the kitchen as possible and stay busy. :cheer2:
Remember this when dieting...
People don't plan to fail, they fail to plan!!!!
Always have a plan... a plan A, a plan B and even a plan C!!!!

Have a wonderful day gals, free of negative fat thoughts of yourself!
Find only the good within yourself and it will be seen by otherspixiedust:

What I do for myself is needlework. I knit, crochet, quilt, embroider, cross stitch and needlepoint. I have even been known to make an outfit or two.

I did get 2 nights this week with 8 hours of sleep.:confused3 :confused3 I know that won't happen the next few nights until maybe Friday after opening night.

Poor Dona!!! Try to keep it elevated as much as you can, and ice it too. I know this is a crazy busy time for you, but rest it when you can. The brace is probably a good idea. I hope you don't have bone spus again--they are a PAIN!!!

So sorry to hear about your ankle. Must be so frustrating. Enjoy the plays. Exciting and hectic at the same time, eh?

Stopping Self-Sabotage

Diet. What diet? "I'll start again tomorrow." But that's what you said last week and the week before -- this holding pattern is really getting you down.

Don't worry, you're not alone. In an early-'90's study researchers found that, on average, dieters had tried to lose weight before, and in fact, averaged one diet a year for the previous two years.

Why the bad track record? In short, many people are sabotaging their own efforts to lose weight for good. Are you one of them? Look over the following self-sabotage signs and click on the link for tips on how to cope.

Sabotage: I deprive myself of enjoyable foods until I can't stand it, then give in and overeat them.

Antidote: "Eat the foods you like, but in small quantities," says Dr. Sharon Marks, a physician specialising in nutrition and metabolism. "If you say foods are bad, then you will start to crave them and overeat them because they are forbidden."

Sabotage: I have all kinds of willpower until I go home and cook my family's supper. Then I can't resist our high-fat favourites.

Antidote: Opt for a lower-fat version of the foods your family likes. They'll help you along on your Plan, and improve your family's health as well. Another tip: Put leftovers in the fridge or freezer before you eat. That way, you'll be less likely to go back for seconds.

Sabotage: I sometimes skip breakfast, thinking it will speed up my weight loss.

Antidote: Set your alarm clock for half an hour earlier so there's time to eat well and energise yourself for the day. "If you skip breakfast you'll be more tempted to reach for a doughnut in the morning," says Marks.

Sabotage: I often lose my willpower at parties and restaurants.

Antidote: Try these tips:

Share an entree and dessert with your partner, or order a salad for starters and have a cappuccino for your third course.

Opt for meals cooked using low-fat methods such as grilling or stir-frying.

Park your car a fifteen-minute walk away so you can burn calories while getting to the restaurant.

Sabotage: When I'm trying to lose weight, I weigh myself several times a day.

Antidote: Limit weighing yourself to once a week at the same time of day. "Weight can fluctuate according to time of day and menstrual cycle," says Marks. "So pay attention to how you are fitting into your clothes, and use a tape measure to see if exercise is helping you take inches off your body measurements."

Sabotage: I often eat while working, reading the newspaper or watching television.

Antidote: Set yourself some ground rules, like "I don't eat in the car or while I'm watching television" -- eating on the run is a surefire way to lessen your satisfaction with food.

Sabotage: I get frustrated when I don't lose weight right away, and usually just give up.

Antidote: Make "slow and steady" your weight-loss mantra. "If it's going to be maintained, then the maximum weekly weight loss should be one to two pounds," says nutritionist Rosemary Stanton. "If that doesn't sound like much weight loss, empty out two tubs of margarine onto a plate and you'll realise how well you're doing."

WOW! Was that written for me?
Thanks

Share in the weekly thread a way that you spend time just for yourself and how it rejuvenates you -- max 5 pts

For me time, I like to read. It doesn't matter if it's a book or online, like these boards! It just calms me down and gets me involved in something else.

I am confused... do I add up my challenge points to the thread or in an pm?

I got 2 nights with 8 hours sleep .. but I did start late in the week
I did both a pedi and a mani though the mani is ruined as I started my spring gardening today.... ohhh but that is what I like to do for myself ...GARDEN:rotfl2:
