Belly Up to the Bar With Bendy and Her Friendies!!! Button Pics & New Thread Started!

Shovan...

Can you please come and make dinner for me tonight??? I'm just so not up to it today and I'm afraid that we will be having chicken for the second night running...

and it's going to be boring chicken...

with some bbq sauce on it if I can get the jar open... :headache:

You should be proud!:thumbsup2

Thanks Kat! You know it's tough for me, not to throw in butter, bacon fat or whatever bottle of liquor I have in my hand at the time!

Tink, I would but I don't think I can get there for dinner time! :sad1: ;) I hope you feel better & can get that sauce open!

MA Piglet:

We really enjoyed Loco's. We tried about 7-8 different dishes!! I guess we are MA piglets also! lol There were 4 of us though! We had watercress salad (yum), ceasar salad, little cheese ball thingies :rotfl: mac and monchago, pork tenderloin (double yum), roasted root veggies (our attempt at nutrition!!) churro's (the best I've ever had). We had a few other things but since I didn't take photo's, I'm stuck with my inferior memory. We seemed to order something else every time our server stopped by! It was a great night.

With everyone talking about their upcoming October Food & Wine trips I'm feeling a little left out. :sad2: I'm hoping some day. Reading about all your adventures is the next best thing though! Almost.

Shovan, that is a beautiful dinner! Quite fancy for a Monday night.

Here's where I'm going to start asking people who have reservations for WDW this October to start letting me know their dates (if they choose to share). Anyone who's interested in getting together with other DIS-foodie friends can use it as a reference. Also, I'm thinking of trying to get a bunch of us together one night for a little shindig at the Beach Club Villas ... nothing fancy, just good folks sharing a little drink or two.

I'll start:

Brenda & Jay ... October 14 - October 24 (Beach Club Villas)
Tink Rules ... some time in October!

As people post their information I'll come back and edit this post - I will also link to it on the very first post where all the other links are.

:goodvibes

I'm definitely going back for my 2nd F&W. Loved it! :woohoo: But as of now my dates don't overlap with yours. I booked bounceback and my only options were for the first week of F&W. Sept 25-Oct 3. But I reserve the right to change my mind. :rolleyes1

On a related note, has anyone visited for first week of F&W? Is it all open starting day one or is there a slow ramp up?

All good to me! :goodvibes If we're having a "party" at the Villa's, did y'all decide to get a 1 BR this time?. We're going with a studio, all I need is a fridge for the liqour & rest. leftovers, microwave to warm the food & a coffee pot for the morning hangovers!

We are booked from 10/15 -10/22!

We do have a one-bedroom booked this fall! :thumbsup2

I was just thinking that we could take over one of the public rooms at the villas since they have so many nice areas ... and then if we want to move it outside to the beach or the pool we can do that too. I was thinking something very informal ... and that's about as far as I managed to think.

Hope your back gives you some relief soon ... that's no fun for sure.

We've only attended in October ... usually the middle to near the end of the month. Well, if you get there before the rest of us you can be the advance scout and let us all know what's going on! :goodvibes

Y'all are killing me! I swore I wouldn't go back next time when it was so dang hot and humid! Hot flashes and hormones aren't doing well in the heat!

Ice cubes and lots of booze with them... (ok...I'll make you a cool wrap...)

You could un-swear ... it's really easy. :lmao:

You are SUCH a bad influence... - oh what am I saying??? I'm thinking of coming too!!!

Here's the pics & descriptions of my Birthday Dinner at Emeril's Delmonico here in New Orleans.

Shovan thank you for doing this review it looked amazing! I am headed down to your area in April and I just keep adding places to my list for food!!! I only have three days and about 50 places!

Thanks Brenda for doing this! Jason and I are at the Boardwalk Villas so we can catch a duck across the pond to see you all!

Shovan, that is a beautiful dinner! Quite fancy for a Monday night.

I cooked that on Sunday evening, ate the leftovers on Monday. I'm going to be cooking practically every night the next 2 weeks due to this detox diet I'm on. It's either cook & or live on carrots & celery. Which for me would last about a whole 5 minutes!
There are many evenings we are calling Domino's or just snacking.

We were there in '06. We arrived the day before & they opened some of the booths that evening! 1st day everything is open but the ones that hadn't opened the night before, weren't running smoothly, but everything was open.

We do have a one-bedroom booked this fall! :thumbsup2

Stupid me! smacking self in forhead now! I didn't even think about the public rooms!

Yeah that would be nice, lots of nice spaces for greeting & boozing!;)

kabuki, 3 days & 50 places is going to be tough. But I have faith in you. YOU CAN DO IT! (using my best Bela Karoyli voice here.)

Have you been to Jacques-Imo's uptown?

Thanks Brenda for doing this! Jason and I are at the Boardwalk Villas so we can catch a duck across the pond to see you all!

I hadn't check the 1st page, I'm excited to see that you'll be there!!
Oh this is going to be fun!:cool1:

I'll tell you about it, but I'm now thinking that with just a three day trip it's probably not your best choice. It's probably out of the way for you, and they are always packed. They only accept reservations for parties of 8 or more.

Jacques-Imo's is not a fancy place, it's a very kitschy, funky, totally N'awlins kind of place. The food, you can get the real thing, true Cajun & Creole food. The sides available are real southern soul food, greens, sweet potatoes, etc. They also do really innovative dishes that you read & wonder "How can that be good?" Then they are amazing! It's mostly seafood, but done in more ways than you can imagine.
Here's the website, but for some reason the menu isn't on there. I'll keep hunting for the menu.

We wants you to come, precious.

Sorry ... channeling Gollum tonight ... but you get the general idea. We could have so much fun in pretend France drinking alcoholic squishees. :thumbsup2

Hmm...dh doesn't have to work during that timeframe...I will keep an eye on flights from Barcelona.

We could have so much fun in pretend France, but we could have a lot of fun in real France...:rolleyes1

Shovan thank you so much for this! Jacques-imoscafe looks like the kinda places we are looking for. I have been to New Orleans twice now and we are taking a couple newbie's with us. ( I think they will loose it when they see how great the food is!!!! :scared1: ) We all love Oysters and seafood and don't mind moving off Bourbon Street to find really good food. Any local places like this are always the best so Thank You again!:woohoo:

Hi Brenda and everyone else (and thanks for the link Kathy)

We are at WDW this October - accommodation yet to be decided but likely to be either SSR or AKV. Our dates are Oct 19th to Nov 2nd. Really looking forward to meeting up with some people if there is something organised during our dates.

WHEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! there is a chance I will be on this list!!! We are getting married on Oct. 10 and still trying to find out where to honeymoon BUT regardless of where we start out we very well might end up in WDW for a few nights!!! :thumbsup2 That would be so great to meet alot of you..it would probably be around the 19th or so...but i will let you know for sure when we do :)

Wow... 90 lbs. That is AWESOME. I haven't been very motivated this week. So, any low-point recipes from Disney just might do the trick. Share away...
YES..low pt recipes for me too please!!

YAY! that sounds great! i will be sure to take pics and totally annoy my friends when we go...i can't wait..we are going on the 23rd :) thanks for sharing..i NEED to try those churros ( what weight watchers ?? HA!)

Here's last night's dinner.

Dessert, Baked Pears topped with Ginger Cherry Pecan Glaze.

I tried to make this lighter, I really wanted to cook them in port & top them with blue cheese! (idea from pic by Liam'saunt on WFDT).
I cooked dried cherries in pineapple juice & a tsp of honey, grated in fresh ginger, added a little bit of black pepper & salt. I toasted the pecans in a pan then added them to the sauce. Then topped & baked the pears.

I even fixed us a Mock Ginger Pineapple Mojito.
IMG_1223a.jpg

I'll work on a recipe for that tonight. I just starting throwing stuff together last night, I only measured the juice. It really turned out good, Bob said he didn't miss the rum. But I did!

Counting WW points my dinner was 7.5 pts. (eating half a chicken breast & 1/2 c. risotto) Dessert was 4, the drink was 2. High total of 13.5. ( but I skipped lunch yesterday. I don't know why but I haven't been having a big appetite lately. I was so stuffed last night. We're having the same thing tonight, I'll will probably serve myself less.) I was actually pretty proud of myself figuring out how to have a really nice meal on WW's & the Detox Diet I'm on. It was tough using only natural products & no dairy or liquor!
Um....YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
