:wave2: I WILL, I WILL

but will it count.....it's 74 degrees outside right now! :lmao: don't hate me.

I won't hate you, but the rest of them might! :lmao: We can actually use a little freeze down here, it will kill the mosquitos!;)

I'm trying ICAnnie's beer bread recipe tonight; it's in the oven as we speak! I'll let you all know how it turns out!

That would be fun to celebrate your honeymoon with you! :cool1:

Oh no wait! That's sounds totally strange.  What I mean is it would be great if you could join us while on your honeymoon!
HAHHAHAHHA!!!! i know what you meant though..and it would be sooo fun!! :) :rotfl2:

Another who's in the deep freeze! We've got a great ice cream stand near us that makes their own ice cream. They are open year round and no matter how cold it is out there are always a few cars in the parking lot with people eating ice cream with the heat blasting away :lmao:
Ok..give..what MA ice cream place..i bet i know it! :)

we are going to our favorite italian place in PRovidence, RI tonight!!! YUM! a great way to end a rather stressful week...:thumbsup2

to my signature. It's perfect!

Hey Deb ... what did you guys think of those truffles? I wish we were eating them right now. :thumbsup2

It's not that it won't melt.....It's the Ben & Jerry's theory. They believe you should eat ice cream when it's cold out because it's a heat transfer sort of thing. Eat cold ice cream & it makes you feel warm, or something like that. Who am I to argue when I'm being told to eat ice cream :lmao:

btw, we're up to 23 degrees out now, it was 10 when the kids left for school :scared: apparently I did not move far enough south!

Did you prove the theory? Did you feel warm & fuzzy all over?:beach: Maybe the heat-transfer only works with full fat ice-cream!;)

I hear you always feel nice and warm and fuzzy right before hypothermia sets in... but if I've got to go... it's gonna be with a pint of Cherry Garcia stuck to my frozen fist!!! ::yes:: ::yes::

Isn't it great! Nancyg56, sent it to me for New Year's & I loved it so much I had to keep it for F&W. If you knew me better, you'd know that could definitely be my Avatar! ;)

Hope you liked it! It's a quick and easy comfort food that's a wintertime favorite at my house. A good friend who was a phenominal cook (and taught at a cooking school for many years) made this beer bread for us the day we brought our daughter home from the hospital (a LONG time ago since our DD will be 32 in a couple of months----older than many here :) ). DD lives in D.C. now, but comes home to visit when she can and always requests homemade beef stew and beer bread be waiting for her arrival. I guess that early association stuck as she still associates the taste and smell with coming home.

Jamie ... how'd the bread turn out?

And we're making stew and bread for dinner tomorrow night. It's a slow-cooker recipe for the stew so I've got to get it going before heading to bed this evening. Seemed like a good meal to have since it's so darn cold right now that no one can really seem to get warm.

Come on Spring! :thumbsup2

Peaceful Meadows :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
Where did you go in Providence?

Hey Deb ... what did you guys think of those truffles? I wish we were eating them right now. :thumbsup2

Would you believe I haven't started on them yet :faint: I've been enjoying the carmels and haven't had a bottle of wine open at home to eat them with. It's been one of those weeks :sad2:

The bread was awesome! I can't believe how easy it was and I can see how well it would go with stew. I made broiled salmon last night, but I ate far more bread than fish! (I finally decided I'm just not a huge salmon girl.) We sprinkled a little garlic on a piece and that was really good, too. I'm wondering if I could make it in muffin tins next time b/c dh cutting a fresh loaf of bread was like watching him with a hedgetrimmer.

That is such a sweet story about your dd, Annie.:goodvibes To this day, if I smell strong coffee and bacon, I think about my grandma's house.

That was too funny, Michelle! You can't imagine what playsets we dreamed up when I used to work for social services.

Did you use self rising flour for the bread? I only have all purpose flour atm in my house. Curious to what type of flour you used.

Yes, I used self-rising. I'm sure if you know how much baking powder, salt to add to three cups that all purpose flour would work fine. Let me google that and see....ok, amazing what you can find so quickly.

To each cup of all purpose flour add: 1 1/2 tsp baking powder and 1/2 tsp salt.

My mom (also from the midwest, Bendie), used to tell us that. Also, eat soup in the summer.
Hi Brenda.:wave2: Yes, I still lurk.
Love the new thread.

Slicing that bread does present a challenge. It's a dense bread with a crispy crust so, no matter how sharp your knife, it doesn't slice easily. I love the hedge trimming analogy...:lmao: !

When I was given the recipe I was told to wrap the bread in a tea towel as soon as it came out of the oven. That never worked. We tried many slicing methods in our quest to get neat and tidy slices of yummy, beer flavored bread. We tried turning it upside down and slicing from various angles........nothing worked. After years of intensive sliceology investigation :scratchin , I finally found the trick. When the bread comes out of the oven, remove it from the pan and let it cool for several minutes. Then loosely wrap it in alum. foil and let stand for a few more minutes. Unwrap and you will notice the crust has softened enough for a knife to glide through smoothly .....voila!.... neat and tidy slices just like in my picture.

I owe you a HUGE apology for not sharing slicing instructions with the recipe. I didn't even think about that old problem when I posted it. So sorry!!!!! May I offer to sharpen your hedge trimmers for you to make up for my omission? :guilty:

Yea!!! :cool1: It seems like the same day that I wonder where you've been you pop right up ... it must be those Midwestern vibes!! :goodvibes

Glad you're here, Deb! And are you planning a trip to WDW this fall? This will be our last until 2011 at least. I would love to finally meet up with you! :flower3:

Looking forward to dinner tonight, I'm trying Bendy's asparagoose bundles!:cool1:

I hope you like them as much as we do! :goodvibes
