Hello,

I have my papers in hand and am reading through them before signing.

I've read a number of posts today that didn't leave me with a good feeling about this.

This is a lot of money to spend for sub-standard Disney treatment.

So all of you out there who post a lot.... Please post, and tell me the good, the bad and everything in between about being a DVC member before I sign and return these papers.

Thanks so much :D

The posts about substandard service at Disney are not the norm. I was totally shocked by the fact that it happened and then twice in the same week! I can only hope that it was the same CM that encountered both Bumpy and Simba's Mom rather than a much larger problem with the management at the resort. I have been a member for 2 years and haven't had any negative experiences with Disney staff at the resorts. I had an issue once while trying to make a Concierge reservation, but it was a complex transaction (multiple use years, banked/borrowed points) and it was resolved to my satisfaction. Everyone I have dealt with has been great and my only regret is that I can't afford to have more points and vacation more frequently!!

I can understand your hesitation, somehow the last two weeks at VWL seem to have some bad press...

BUT, in all fairness run over to the Resort or Trip reports board & see how others have also had their fair share of bad reports from the regular resorts!! I don't know, maybe it had to do with all that rain  It must have confused all the CM's!!!

We've been members for three years or so now & have had 4 or 5 stays & they've all been really nice. Yes, occasionally something in the unit broke or was missing & whenever we requested it to be replaced it always was & done promptly. Sometimes I sit here wondering WHY somebody didn't say something about the problem that was bothering them. Last September as a cash paying guest I had problems at Coronado Springs & believe me the problem got resolved. A few years ago while a cash paying guest at OKW our room keys kept getting messed up & declined... Several years ago, while staying at BC on cash we had problems there... Whether you are cash paying or pay with points, problems can arise, even with all our trips, our bad experiences can be counted on one hand...

On the other hand, we've stayed at a great number of non-Disney hotels & boy have we had some problems, far more than we ever had at Disney...

So, sign the documents & remember if you ever do have a problem, open your mouth & complain... not to a front desk clerk, but to a MANAGER! :D

We bought sight unseen and loved it. We've been 7 times since purchasing and have NEVER encountered a problem (these have to be isolated cases that should have never happened).

As suggested hop over to the Trip boards and do some reading. Good luck with your purchase and enjoy your many stays in the most magical place on earth. :)

We have used our points 4 times (3 at BWV and 1 at VWL) without a problem. Have received nothing but great treatment from the CM's and Disney.
And we were at Epcot on 9/11. Think the Disney CM's did a wonderful job handling a sensitive situation.

In 40 years of vacations, you will undoubtedly encounter some people who are less than wonderful. That's a given.

But the biggest regret you will see constantly posted on this board is......why, oh why didn't we buy DVC sooner??? Do a search on posts that begin "Just got back...." and you will see story after story of wonderful DVC trips and people raving about the experience of staying in such great accommodations.

If you love WDW and staying on-site, I don't think you can make a better decision than signing those papers. Those of us who did are for the most part completely satisfied with the investment.:D
