Bedbugs at POR

ewwww are you serious? is this a problem thats getting worse? Ive never had this happen.. *knocks on wood*

y'all are going to make me google bed bugs.

At least we all have a "heads up" and will know to check (both at WDW and any other hotel we stay at)! :thumbsup2

Ok! Who else besides me read this thread and began researching bed bugs??? They are GROSS!!! I am totally freaked now :scared1: and will be checking our bedding at POR as soon as we arrive, before we even unzip suitcases!!!

I'll be checking before the luggage even gets up to the room!!!!!!

I just googled them and its gross.. and i would go in and check the beds but im sure everyone will be like O.o what are you looking for? I dont want to freak anyone out :confused3 do you think the disney peeps check the beds as much as possible?

I think they should./. all the time.

Anyone see "Mr. Monk goes on vacation"? It was just on today and I would love to know where to get one of those special lights they use to see "bodily fluids". Or maybe not...:lmao: We've been dealing with lice at our school and now we need to learn about bedbugs too? TMI:scared1:

LOL...I don't think you would want one of those lights. You would probably be sleeping outside in a tent.:rolleyes1

also, since I am going in May...what building were these found in????

You and I are going to POR at the same time. I'm sooo nervous now!! We stayed at OKW in February. There were a lot of threads about bedbugs not long before we left for that trip too. The first thing we did was check the beds! Luckily we didn't find anything. But now I'm stressed all over again.:headache:

if they are near impossible to get rid of, how does disney and other hotels do it???

I read an article (I think in the Wall Street Journal, at some point earlier in 2008)...

They can use HEAT to get rid of them -- have to remove all flammable stuff, seal off room plus others in immediate area, heat it up to like 120F for 48 hours or something, clean rooms to the hilt, replace carpeting / drapes / all other fabric things

They can use PESTICIDES to get rid of them -- similar process, as another poster mentioned though, the best pesticides for the job are no longer available (kinda like using DDT in appropriate concentrations is the BEST way to control malaria mosquitos)

They even have bed-bug sniffing dogs to help in some places -- dogs help detect bed-bugs in rooms in general area that may be infested even though there aren't any signs visible to humans...

What if u get picked-up by the disney bus,can u tell them not 2 put your luggage in your room :confused3 till u check it out for bed bugs pirate: . OR will they give u a hassel about that:rolleyes: I don't think they will but u never know:confused3 . since they know they have a problem.

I stayed at POFQ last summer and didn't have a problem with bedbugs..I just check the beds when I get in the room.

We did have a problem at the Dolphin though when we came back one nite and found a gigantic cockroach hanging out in our room. He actually said hello to us when we walked in (LOL):lmao: Seriously though, this thing was so big and scary that the maintenance guy they sent up to kill it was scared of it. Thankfully the staff at the Dolphin handled the situation appropriatly and switched our room and comped us for that nite...icky icky.

I talked to my friend yesterday and she said they were in Building 37 (AB). She said management wasn't helpful because I guess it is a semi-regular situation and they didn't realize they even had bedbugs until they were home.

The only solution to this is Disney has to make a new bedbug character, then everyone would be thrilled to have them in their room.:lmao: If you saw a mouse run along the baseboard in your hotel room, wouldn't you yell "hey, I just saw Mickey".

Aren't they in A Bug's Life? :rotfl:
