Bedbugs at POR

I expect more of cutomer relations at any resort than not hearing anything back...

You invested alot of money in your vacation, not to mention the inconvenience.......

Glad you posted so others can be more aware!!!!!!!!!

Thank you.

Ok! Who else besides me read this thread and began researching bed bugs??? They are GROSS!!! I am totally freaked now :scared1: and will be checking our bedding at POR as soon as we arrive, before we even unzip suitcases!!!

There have been a few threads off and on about bedbugs at WDW Resorts.

Bedbugs have been confirmed at AKL, FW Cabins, Poly, POP and POR, not sure about other resorts, but as one poster mentioned, it can and is happening at the best hotels. This is a difficult thing to get rid of, but hopefully Disney does it's best each time the situation arises.

Last year a member of DIS reported that while staying in the Cabins they received notifcation that they had to change cabins - they were not told why. They did call after arriving home and were told housekeeping had reported the bedbugs, hense the move.

I think Disney has a responsibility to tell guests if they are being moved due to bedbugs so the guest can take precautions with luggage and be aware of any bites that might appear later.

Creeps me out too, but so far has not kept us from staying in Disney Resorts :) We try to remember to check the matresses and headboards, but last Poly stay in December, totally forgot to check for anything....must have been too busy spraying everything with lysol!! :rotfl:

we get news out of NYC. They have indeed had reports in the last 2 yrs of several bed bug outbreaks in hotels, even expensive hotels. I always think of this when I sleep in a hotel. I always check for them. If you're really worried, you can probably find out how to check for them with a quick internet search.

We just got back from POR, and had no problems, although I have started itching everywhere after reading this post. ;-)

If the search function is working on this site it's easy to research this topic. Every 3 weeks or so someone asks this same question. So, there is alot of info out there to find.

(whenever i read these posts about bedbugs, i get itchy....)

RIGHT THERE WITH YA!!!!

I stayed at POR three weeks ago and did not have any "bug" problems - we were in AB section - like others have said they may have been "brought in" by other guests, you really can't tell - I cannot see any Disney property having an investation and probably (I am hoping) this was just an isolated incident :confused3 .

Here we go again..seems like everytime we're about a week or so away from our trip, reports of bedbugs surface on the boards!!

Since the first time the reports started to surface on these boards (and some were hoaxes, some weren't)... I NOW always check our beds first. I check the headboards, pull the sheets off and check the mattress and check the night tables, etc. (and I'll still itch the next day even though nothing was there...:scared1: )

If you're concerned, make sure to check all around the bed areas for black spots, etc.

Hopefully she won't end up with them at home.

That would be more my concern at this point. IF..they were bed bugs...they are easily packed up and brought home. They often are in the seams of the drawers in hotels also. So..that's another spot to check before you put your clothes away. One of the reasons we always keep our clothes neatly in the suitcases on the luggage racks. I even call and get extra if we need them. We hang some things in the closet..but don't use the drawers.
Bed bugs..don't discriminate. Dump or Deluxe....we've been reading and hearing about it quite a bit here in NY.

Pull the thick corded edges of the mattress out and check under them for the little buggers. Also, to keep from taking them home with ya as souvenirs, don't place your luggage/bags on the beds. They've discussed this issue on the DIS Unplugged. It IS a current issue at WDW. We're staying at POR in Sept but I'm not too worried. I'm gonna check the mattresses before we settle in.

Has anyone else stayed at POR so far in 2008 and had any problems with bed bugs?

We were there in feb. No bedbugs, or any bugs for that matter. :)

at home, NOT DISNEY!!!, my child brought mites (scabies) home, for christmas break.
Really freaked out, the school was unaware that a classate was infested w/ them.
5 other families also spent christmas dispensing medicine, lotion, and disenfecting linens. ( I threw mine out)

We had tiny black bugs all over our room at CBR. I thought it was because we had a first floor room and bugs might get in easier that way. It wasn't a bug we have here in Wisconsin. In fact, that is one of the great things about where I live....we just don't get many bugs.

I don't know if any Diser has actually had a problem with them. It always seems to be someones friend.

Good to know...We are leaving in 3 days for our very first WDW family vacation and we will be at POR. Needless to say...reading this thread has gotten us more than a little freaked out :scared: :crazy2: :sad2:  :scared1:
Not exactly our idea of a magical time!!! Very worried....

My sister just told me about a friend who was at WDW last month and his family had bedbugs in their room (she didn't know which WDW resort they stayed at). They were found by mousekeeping and when the family returned to their room, their key didn't work so they went to the front desk and were told bedbugs had been found and they couldn't go back in the room - it was quarantined!

Disney moved them to another room, made them throw out their sneakers and suitcases and wash all their clothes at a very high temperature. Disney replaced everything that was ruined and paid all their costs.

I think Disney reacted very prudently and took steps to prevent the problem from spreading and to alleviate the inconvenience to the guest. I can't imagine many other hotels being so proactive and accomodating, especially about something that is out of their control.

Yay Disney!
