Becky & Jason's Fairy Tale wedding 9/3/11 on Long Island - *complete*

Yay for harry potter!!! Brian and I are also huge fans!
The calligraphy looks wonderful!
Those birdhouses are going to look great!!

Yay! Everything looks great! =] I can't wait to see how all of your centerpieces turn out!

For Rapunzel.. you can even add some braided yarn out of the window to give it a little extra Rapunzel-ness! ;D

Calligraphy looks great too!

I may have to head to Michael's tomorrow.. I've had a DIY itch going through my brain.. I have lots of ideas. DANGEROUS.

I hadn't stopped by your PJ in a while, so a few things:

LOVE your centerpieces, I really like the bookmarks! Nice touch. :thumbsup2
The wooden bidhouses will be a great addition- can't wait to see how they turn out once painted.

Great find with those crayons. I will be stopping by my local Michael's to see if they have them too! I don't have too many kids coming so it won't be a huge splurge, and I was thinking of making welcome bags for everyone anyways. :)

The invitations look good too, and the calligraphy is coming out nicely. You are very good.

Yay for Df's new job!!! & that you will be able to go the Harry Potter conference. Being such a huge fan I can't believe that you missed that two of the books in my e-pics are HP books! ;)

Thank you! My calligraphy isn't perfect - even with a guide underneath that gives me lines, I still have trouble writing in a straight line! I find that all the time when I sub and have to write on the board, I step away and my writing is definitely not going in a straight line! But I don't think guests will mind too much.

Yay for harry potter!!! Brian and I are also huge fans!

Thank you! Great to hear you guys are also HP fans! Have you been to the Wizarding World in Universal?

Ooh, I'm excited to hear what your DIY project is!!

Yay for the job and HP victory!!!! I am also into the Potter madness though I have never been to a convention. Do they have those at universal? Does the cast come down? I am trying to get us tix to my very first comic con next year though so well see how that goes. Love what you are doing with the centerpieces. I cant wait to see them painted:thumbsup2. For Peter Pan you could add a reference to the crocodile by adding a vintage looking pocket watch and I like Jenifers idea as well for Repunzel. I love the calligraphy I actually just sent out our invites to Mickey, Cinderella, and the President so I can't wait until I get a response.

We haven't, but want to go so bad!! It's funny, Brian goes to DragonCon every year in Atlanta, and 2 years ago he sent me a crazy excited text. It read like this. "I'm crowded and it stinks in this elevator I'm in. But, I'm standing next to Draco Malfoy. I'll deal with it"

Haha!:rotfl:

I haven't been on in so long I feel like I have missed so much!!

I love your centerpieces. They are so creative and original. I love books as well.

Your Calligraphy is awesome. I wish I could write like that. We are doing wax seals on our invitations too. We actually purchased the stamp and wax sticks(for a low temp glue gun) on ebay. It was cheaper than in the stores that I found. You might want to check it out.

So happy that you are able to go to the Harry Potter convention. That sounds like so much fun. I love Harry Potter. You will definitely have to tell us how it is.

I made my guestbook on mixbook and I love how it turned out. I used one of the templates they had and just changed the back ground colors. Can't wait to see how yours turns out!!

Usually they have the conventions all over the country, but last year and this year (and next year) they're all in Orlando because of the theme park. They're held at one of the Universal hotels. But the other two that I were at were in Dallas and Boston. Usually none of the major cast members come, but last year they had a few of the minor ones - Chris Rankin, who plays Percy Weasley, and Chris Coulson, who played Tom Riddle in the diary in the second movie. Also, last year (and hopefully this year) Darren Criss (from Glee) was there. He came because he starred in a super popular spoof musical of Harry Potter that's a youtube sensation now. It's called A Very Potter Musical and if you haven't seen it or heard of it definitely check it out, it is sooo funny!!

Let us know when you hear back from any of the "celebrities" that you sent invitations to!

Ahhh, that's awesome, haha! Definitely check out the park when you can, it's really awesome. And the butterbeer is so tasty :)

Thank you! I will have to look into that wax seal option. DF already has a few wax seal materials, but probably not enough to do all the invites! I'm really liking mixbook so far. What size book did you end up getting?

More updates!

Men's Attire

I FINALLY got DF to go to Men's Warehouse and figure out what the guys are wearing. It's very basic. They're doing a black tuxedo, colored vests, and an ivory shirt, because my dress is ivory. I let DF pick everything. Here's the tux:

Here's the vest the groomsmen are going to wear; this is the same color as the BM dresses:

And here's the vest DF is going to wear. He went with our secondary wedding color, silver:

Bridesmaid Gifts

I've started compiling the gifts I want to give to my MOH and bridesmaids. One of the things I just got was tote bags that are personalized with their names. I think they're pretty cute, and a bit bigger than I expected, too!

I plan to fill them with a few things. The one thing I'm debating on is jewelry. I know it's pretty traditional, but I can't really afford to get really nice jewelry, and since I'm also planning on doing other stuff, but I feel like it would be kinda lame to get them cheap jewelry. Any advice on good places to get nice, inexpensive jewelry? And do you think it's okay to do without it? Instead I'm thinking about doing a "spa bag" and filling it with some goodies. I'm also going to include a shot glass, Bridesmaid/MOH t-shirt, and a book of fairy tales to go with my theme. I think that's plenty :goodvibes Hope they like it!

That is plenty!! I think it sounds great!!
Those bags look great! Did you check out etsy for the bridesmaid jewelry? You usually can find some pretty nice things for a good price.
And I think Vicki may have a good site for them as well :)

And great choice on the mens tux's!:thumbsup2

Loving everything so far Becky!! :)

AND can I say how jealous of you for HP!!! He is my other obsession besides Disney... :rolleyes1

I was trying to work out a way to include Universal on our honeymoon- but I am not used to just paying for one day and one night in a hotel, and that sucker is pricey!! It ended up being like $500+ for just one night on property, and two tickets!! :scared1: AND I spoiled Thomas before by staying on-site and passing up all the lines with the Express Pass.. haha now he can't go back to waiting in line with the "common" folk! :lmao:

BUT we are going on our annual family vacation with my family from TX and we are going to Tampa and renting a beach house, and we are going to squeeze out one day trip to Orlando to go to Universal!!! I am soooo excited!! :woohoo:

I love the tuxes!! I am trying to plan the colors and such... I have ideas, but I need to visually see it!!! :)

Love the tuxes girlie! They look great I can't wait to see how they look along sides the bridesmaid dresses. Oh and Kristi is right, there is an awesome website called sammoon and that's where I got my girls necklace earring sets. They only cost me $3.95 each and they are awesome quality too. I got the pearl and pearl stud earring sets for them and they look great in person and I heard they photograph really well :)

That sounds great! =] The tuxes look fab!

As far as jewelry, try hitting up ebay.. you'd be SURPRISED what you can find on there for a decent price! =]

If you need any help lemme know!

Your situation actually sounds a little similar to mine! We were going to try and work a Universal day into our honeymoon, but it's a lot of extra costs for one day... a park ticket, transportation to the Universal hotel, meals (since we have the Disney dining plan). But the good news was that Jason's family is taking a trip to Orlando in June, and I think we'll be able to go then! :woohoo: The only bad thing is it's about two and half weeks before I go for the conference, so I'll have to pay full price for a one day ticket two times. I wish they had a no expiration option like Disney :headache:

Thanks! I can't wait to see how the tuxes look with the girls either. Probably won't be until the day of the wedding..

Thanks! I looked into all that you girls suggested, turns out that Etsy worked out the best for me :goodvibes

It feels like I haven't updated in forever, even though it's only been 5 days!! I had a string of subbing job offers, at the one good elementary school in the district, so I definitely couldn't turn them down. I could have worked today too, but I took the day off since I am a full time grad student and do have to do that work at some point! (But instead I'm checking the dis boards :rolleyes1)

Bridesmaid Gifts

The good news - I found some nice, inexpensive jewelry for my girls! I wanted something really simple, and found these adorable bracelets on etsy! I just got them in the mail today and they are even better than how they look in the pictures. I got all different ones, so they're similar but unique. There are two other great things about them: 1., they were super cheap (only $2.00 each, and $2.00 to ship the whole thing!), and 2., 100% of the profits went to an organization that helps homeless cats. AND I ordered the bracelets Sunday evening and they arrived today! They're not super fancy, but as a small gift with a bunch of other small gifts for my bridesmaids, I think they'll be really nice.

Here's a shot I took of all the bracelets together:

And here's some individual pictures, from the Etsy seller's website:

Centerpieces

I got another package with items for my centerpieces!

P1040150.jpg

The sand castle is for The Little Mermaid table. The coach is for Cinderella. I was going use the castle as a main item for my Sleeping Beauty table, but it's a lot smaller than I expected (the dimensions were on the website but even with a ruler I can't picture things well!). I think I may use the castle for Cinderella, and order the larger castle on the website. However, then I have to pay for shipping again, which was a decent amount of money and kind of a pain just for one item :headache:
