Becky & Jason's Fairy Tale wedding 9/3/11 on Long Island - *complete*

DF's Ring

So DF's ring arrived in the mail the other day and it was gorgeous! I thought it looked much better in person than in the picture online. Much shinier than I expected:

Unfortunately, DF overestimated his ring size and the ring was much, much too big! This time he actually went to a jeweler and had himself measured. They told him that he was an 8.5 - kind of a problem since the ring on the website only comes in whole sizes. This time we're going to order an 8 and keep our fingers crossed that it works. If not I may go bonkers :upsidedow because it cost almost $7 to return it. I don't want to keep doing that!

Guest Book

On another note, I've been considering guest book options. I would like to do something with Mixbook, but when I went on the website I was a little bit frustrated. I wanted to use their pre-designed layouts, but none of the colors go with my theme. I wish there was an easy way to just change the colors, but there doesn't seem to be. I don't know if I'm creative enough to design all of the layouts myself. Also, DF and I didn't really have engagement pictures taken - we only had two formal shots taken to save money. So I'm not sure what pictures I would use? Would it be silly to use any old pictures of the two of us together?

If anyone has any experience using Mixbook, or another create-your-own guestbook type of website, please let me know!

That ring does look great!!! Great thing about overstock men's rings, everyone I know that's gotten the band from them thinks it looks better than the pic! Including me! And such a great price!!! But they do tend to run big, unfortunately.

For the guestbook, I don't think it would look strange at all to use old pics of you two at all! I think it's cute!! You could even start it off by using baby pics of the two of you as well, I always think that's cute!!

Well, in this case I think it will be a good thing that they run big, since DF's "official" size is a half size, and we are going with the smaller one. Hopefully they will run just big enough that it will fit him perfectly! :goodvibes

The ring looks great! I'm planning on surprising DF with one the morning of.. so that he has a not so pretty one to wear while he's at work! hah. I'm probably going to hit up overstock too.

I don't know if you DEFINITELY want to do a picture guestbook, but I'm considering doing a wishing tree or a guestbook that I had seen on Martha Stewart. It's somewhat like a scrapbook but has envelopes on the pages, then guests write little notes on cards and they insert them into the envelopes! Which you can then decorate the pages that you don't put envelopes on with your pictures. I'm going to try and find the tutorial.. so if you want it let me know and I'll send it your way too! :goodvibes:

Brian wears a 9, and luckily the ring we got does come in half sizes, because he ended up getting a 8 1/2 :)

Silly DF! Why don't men listen to reason the bride knows best about these ring matters :rotfl: The ring looks fab girl, we just got ours in today, I am about to post pics now:thumbsup2 We did our guestbook through shutterfly, I don't think it would be silly at all to use old pics of you guys, it can be like or slide show, or better yet you guys could get dressed up and have a friend take some pics at the park or something, that way you can fill in the boo more. I don't know about mixbook, but shutterfly has layouts for each page and you just pick what ones you want individually or you can pick a themed one for the whole book so you don't have to do so much work. I also heard blurb is good about that as well. Here's some pics from our book:

I love that ring!!! Too bad you have to get another size!!! Pixie dust your way that the size 8 fits!! :goodvibes

I think using older pictures is a cute idea!! You can make them progressive like a timeline! I think several other brides have done that as well!

I got a groupon for mixbook- so I haven't have a chance to mess with it yet, because we don't have engagement pictures yet either- but I could help you out if you need it!

I love your guestbook :thumbsup2 I really like how it themes so well, but I guess you're luckier in a way because your pictures go with your theme. I want to incorporate the fairy tale theme into my guestbook somehow...

And I'm also looking at snapfish as an option.

Thanks! I've been playing around with a few different programs, but if you do try out mixbook let me know what you think! DF is going to take a look at them with me too and see if he can do anything. :goodvibes

Bridesmaid Newsletter!

Just thought i would post some screen shots of the bridesmaid newsletter I sent out. It's nothing too complicated, pretty simple, and it was really easy to do in Microsoft Publisher:

Thank you! I agree, it will be good to keep everyone informed. I think that getting something in the snail mail that isn't an email seems a little more "important" too.

What a cute newsletter & so informative!! :)

Thank you! I just started exploring Mix Book tonight, and it seems like there's a lot you can do with it! I'm going to play around with it and DF is going to look at it too, so I'll keep you updated as well :)

Here's just a quick update on a couple of things that have been going on:

Thank Yous

I found the perfect thank you cards at Target! The were on clearance and they're beautiful. It was about $7.50 for a box of 50, so I got two boxes and now I have all the thank you cards I'll need for the wedding. They're silver and glittery, so they actually go with my colors too.

Guestbook

I have been playing around with Mixbook a little and I love it! I got an email for 20% off but it expires tonight - I was hoping to have something finished by then so I could order it at the discount, but I won't make it. I guess I'll just wait for the next discount email!

Other

In other not really wedding related news, DF had a job interview this morning for a pretty big company that would pay him well. He felt the interview went really well (they kept him for almost 6 hours! to tell him all about the company and do other stuff), so he's pretty confident, but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed. He'll hear in about two or three weeks, and if he gets the job he would start in July, which is perfect since he graduates in May. I'm super nervous because it would solve the question of where we'll be living, and once we know where we're located I can start looking for a job and we can begin looking for an apartment. Wish us luck, I really hope he gets it! :dancer:

I am loving those thank you cards!! :) I might have to make my way to Target tomorrow....:rolleyes1

I am so glad you are enjoying Mixbook!!! That makes me excited to start messing around with it once we get some pictures!! :) I think around Valentine's Day they had a 30% off coupon floating around, so hopefully we will both luck out with one of those! I would be happy with 20% too !!

pixiedust: your way for Jason's job interview!!! LOL 6 hours for an interview!?!? Sounds like he is hired already!! :thumbsup2

Great thank you cards!! :thumbsup2

And let me tell you, as someone who interviews people all the time for different positions within the company i work, if it lasts more than an hour you are doing great, but 6 hours...you are certainly hired!! :wizard:

Awesome girl:thumbsup2 I love the cards. Keeping my fingers crossed for you both with the job situation. I am sure your DF did great. I can't wait to see your book when it's done :)
