Becky & Jason's Fairy Tale wedding 9/3/11 on Long Island - *complete*

Happy Belated Birthday Becky!!!

I love all your gifts you got for yourself!! It sounds like you had a wonderful day!! :)

I would love to take dancing lessons! What a great idea!

Yay Vinyls!!!! I really love those little guys!!! I'm telling you I'm going to go crazy on our trip.
I love the shirts!!!!

Haha I know, I'm really trying to restrain myself! My parents think it's crazy and Jason thinks they're a little weird looking - turns out my brother is the only one that supports this, saying "they're actually pretty cool" :rotfl:

Happy Birthday!

Thank you! :goodvibes

Thanks! And I am excited for the dancing lessons, hopefully they will help us so our first dance doesn't just look like an awkward slow dance. I took beginner's ballroom dance lessons while I was abroad at Oxford and I loved it, so I'm excited to get to do some dancing again, even it's just one lesson :cool1:

Table Name Signs

So before I disappear for the weekend, I figured I'd post the project that I completed while watching The Outsiders movie for class ;) I had been working on the table name sign ideas for awhile but finally put it all together and I'm almost done with all of them. They're supposed to look like bookmarks. Anyway, here's one:

Now I'm just trying to figure out how to display them. I love the tassel, because it makes it look more like a real bookmark, but when I set it upright it kinda just hangs down and looks sorta lame:

I'm wondering if maybe at an angle would be better?

Or any other ideas you might have...

happy belated! it's like disbride birthday mania around here!! mine is in 2 1/2 weeks, lol!! you got great birthday loot too!! although if i opened a present and saw lotso... i would have inflicted serious damage on it. i just saw toy story 3 last weekend and the last 5 days i've been stewing about how much i want to punch that bear

i love your table bookmarks. i don't think the tassel looks bad, i like it. i like when it was positioned straight the best! very creative!!

have a great weekend!

I agree with the OP, the tassel does not look lame. I can tell exactly what it is. Looks like the same material as the tasseling from the ones I used to get from my school book fairs. Love it!

I don't think it looks bad just handing (I do like the sign straight better though).

If you are worried about the tassel hanging could you wrap it back around the sign and glue it? (Does that make sense)?

So many updates I have been MIA for a while haha! Everything looks great girl! Love the bookmarks just the way they are tassel and all :)

Aww, thanks to both of you! I'm glad you think it looks okay :)

It does make sense, and I had thought of the same thing. But I think I may just leave it, at least for now. Thanks!

Thank you both! :grouphug:

So I've been a horrible disbride and I haven't been keeping up with any PJs- just caught up and I'm loving your progress.

From one MLS student to another- the storybook theme is amazing. :goodvibes

Hi Becky,

I missed the table names update! But I have to agree with everyone, I really like the way it looks with the tassel, I think that's what gives it the 'bookmark' feel... definitely not lame! :)

Thank you! I've actually seen pictures of some really awesome book themed or even library themed weddings, which would be really cool too! But I like this because I got to tie in Disney as well :)

Thanks, I'm glad everyone likes it! That's a relief, sometimes when you do it yourself it's harder to see if it's good or not...

Escort Cards - Ideas

It has been awhile (like, a week, which is awhile for me! :lmao:) since I posted an update. I haven't really done much wedding related stuff. Unfortunately, I had a ten page paper that's due this Sunday (who has a paper due on Easter Sunday?!), and since I'm traveling home today and actually want to enjoy the time with my family, I've been working on it all week and finished it around 2 am last night. Whew! :woohoo:

So anyways, I've been thinking about what I would like to do for escort cards. I looked around and found this inspiration pic that I would really like to try:

I am not sure how to get the paper to curl like that or what kind of paper would be best to use... any ideas?

Otherwise I'd probably do something relatively simple, like these:

I was also trying to see if I could somehow do little books of the fairy tales but I don't really know how that would work! If anyone else has any creative ideas, fairy tale or book related, let me know :)

That's what I used for the save the date magnets. You can change the background colors too (I changed mine to lighter purples to match my wedding colors)

I love the centerpiece table name bookmarks!! They came out beautiful Becky!!! :goodvibes

I had some ideas for the escort cards that fit in with your theme!

You could make mini-books like what you had mentioned before, but they it could be as simple as just folding paper in half and standing them up vertically, or you could have multiple pages and staple it somehow to where it stayed open? I found one picture that is kind of the book look-

Also thinking of books and your library science degree :D I thought about what if you made library cards as your escort cards?

librarycard1.gif

You could change it up and make it say

" This fairy tale belongs to:"

"You are due at table..."

Something like that, I think could be really cute!

I love the golden place card that is curled and I would use it for placecards. You would need to make this out of cardstock and then wrap both ends around a pencil on either end to get the curled effect. If you aren't happy with the curl try wrapping it around other round objects until you get the perfect curl!

I also like the idea of the library cards and you could even make pockets for the escort cards. That idea is so unique and fits you perfectly!

If you could afford it...it would be fun to get "golden books" for each of your guests or even one per family/couple as escort cards and put the library jacket/card inside. Or you could create your own books for the table names. Here is one that I made for a musical show as a prop. They were needing a huge book so that it could be viewed throughout the auditorium.

"Golden Book Binding" = These were two options I played with to make the book look like a Golden Book with a gold binding:

Good to know! If I go with that one I may even just try to design something myself that's similar.

You both have such great ideas, now I really don't know what to do! :rotfl: I think perhaps I will try and go with the little storybooks first and see how that works. And Dolly, you're right that the scrolls could be good for place cards. I was thinking of something else, a picture frame that would double as a favor, but I may change my mind ;)

Thanks! Haha I wish I could do everything because there are now so many good ideas for escort cards.

So I had a good Easter, hope you all did too! The Easter Bunny still brings me a basket at my parents' house, filled with goodies - I got the Tangled DVD and a Mickey Mouse shirt! It was a little small though, so my mom was going to exchange it but they didn't have a larger size. Instead she got a Lady and the Tramp tee, which I haven't seen yet but I'm sure it's cute... just hope it fits! She knows I'm trying to lose weight so she got me those things instead of a lot of candy, and I prefer this anyway :thumbsup2

Ring Bearer Outfits

We have been trying to decide what the ring bearers should wear for the wedding. We know that we don't want to put them in tuxes, because it's a bit too formal and they're 5, I just don't think they'd be comfortable or like it very much. Any good places to get a little suit? Or other suggestions... is a shirt and tie too informal for them? We are paying for their outfits because unfortunately my uncle (their dad) passed away a year and a half ago, and my aunt was a stay at home mom, so money has been tight for them. Hoping to find something reasonably priced but I also don't know when to buy... I don't want to wait too long but they're also growing pretty quickly so I don't want to buy too soon either! Any advice?
