Babnanas 9: Something snappy.....Like BACON!!

Just hoping for some thoughts and prayers. My grandmother (age 84) fell yesterday. They are trying to get her to move to a rehab facility for 6 weeks. She is refusing.

I'm not putting this on Facebook because we want to wait to tell my sister and aunt until the doctor tells us something tomorrow. My sister can be very problematic. My aunt has breast cancer.

I hope everything works out well with your grandmother. Mine hid an injury for weeks because she did not want to be put in a home. It's very hard to lose your independence, especially for strong women.

It's sounding more and more like we're backing BACK UP TO 2014.

DH was hellbent on spring break and I've told him it's too expensive. TWICE. When I finally put a number under his nose he FINALLY listened.

He is worried about taking DS out of school BUT I'm looking into putting him into a YES program while we're there. So now he's back at considering September 2013. MAYBE...

Hopefully you will be able to go sooner rather than later. It's hard trying to work vacations around school and work time.

....it's kind of like a 'boutique' hotel...not a great place for families with kids, especially small ones...

We liked the hotel, though it still wasn't up to Disney standards. The walls were so thin we were woken up each morning to the screaming kid in the room next to us (I guess he's not a morning person.) We got lucky and got a free upgrade from a standard queen/queen room to a king/pull out bed room with a balcony. Unfortunately, that balcony was on the second floor over looking a busy area so we heard the large groups of cheerleaders until the wee hours of the morning. When we checked in, the desk guy said he'd have the pullout made for us when we got back from the park. It wasn't. And it took 3 calls and a visit to the front desk at 1 am to finally get the sheets for the pullout. I would stay there again because it wasn't too expensive and the location is great! I loved being able to walk to DHS and Epcot or take a boat. We are trying to find another weekend to go up before the blackout dates, but I'm not sure we'll be able to. We have something planned every single weekend in May!

Ugh to noisy neighbors. That's bad luck. I'm a very light sleeper but slept ok at the Dolphin. I was surprised. I probably had quiet neighbors though. The service at the Dolphin was excellent. My daughter was having trouble with her cell phone and they went out of their way to help. They were quite helpful with other things too. The only other Disney resort I can compare it to is POFQ. Dolphin's service was much better. Don't get me wrong, I loved POFQ and would happily go back. Go back, what a lovely thought...someday.

...same here...the worse problem we had was the slight musty smell - once we changed our room to one with a balcony that had a sliding-glass door, the problem disappeared...

Yikes, I would not do well with musty smell. It would probably make me stuff up and give me a sinus headache.

amanda, I hope your grandmother is doing better. So hard getting older!!

kwit, thanks for inviting me to your Lego party. :snooty:

Mean Queen, any noise about the BTMRR rehab finishing on time?? Glad you had a good weekend. ::yes::

I didn't ask. We never got near BTMRR. We went to MK Friday night only. My kids were too tired to go back today! :scared1: Spoiled lazy children. :snooty: We did get a lot done though on Friday. I loved the new Dumbo, practically walked right on twice. The Barnstormer isn't much different, they just got rid of the barn and switched the entrance and the exit. We never made it to Frontierland or Adventureland at all. We went to DHS yesterday morning. We got fast passes for TSM, for 5 pm... when I had dinner reservations in Mexico. I ended up making the day for two ladies celebrating their birthdays. I stopped them, wished them a Happy Birthday, and said "Here are 4 fast passes if you'd like." They said thanks then asked what it was for. I told them TSM and they started jumping up and down. They said they had been going to the parks for a week and had never got to ride it because the line was always long and the fast passes gone. I told them to ride it twice then since there were 4 passes. They hugged me and my DD12 (who helped pick them out) and literally skipped away. For some reason, I pictured them being like TK and Tink and it made me happy to make their day magical. pixiedust:

We headed to Epcot, ate in France, got to see Remy :banana::banana:, then walked half way around the world before the kids gave up on us and whined until we went back to the hotel. We ended up eating at the Yachtsman instead of Mexico because we ate lunch too late, which we loved because it's a favorite! Then we went to Beaches & Cream to try to get the Kitchen Sink, but the wait was too long. We grabbed stuff to go then headed for the Boardwalk. We met some friends we haven't seen in years there and enjoyed just watching the performers.

We got up this morning with plans to go to WCC then MK. But DD12 was not up for it. We did do WCC, but we realized when it's not crowded, it's not as fun. We only had one table bring us ketchup and it was just too quiet for WCC. Still fun and tasty, just not the same crazy atmosphere. After that, we ran to DTD for a little shopping then it was time to go home.

Good thing we came home early because I ended up doing lice removal number 3 on DD6. :headache: I was extra careful this time to try to get every single nit, which just made her cry all the more. But hopefully it works this time. DH thinks she just keeps getting reinfected at school because he sees how thorough I am with the treatment and removal. If this doesn't work, I think the whole family gets their head shaved.

Welp... looks like late May/early June 2014 is our timeframe.

Which will have us going for DH's birthday. :teeth: Hopefully he'll stick with then and not change his mind. It's a great time of year, the kids will be done with school, and the weather and crowds will be good.

:cool2: Bring it on!

Kwitch - now it's time to plan! Yeah for setting a date!

I know! Heck, I've got half of it planned already.

Going to try to get DS (who'll then be 7 :faint:) into one of the YES classes.

DD (who'll be 5 :faint:) will go to BBB.

We'll eat at Akershus, Boma, and Le Cellier for sure.

I'm thinking 7 days (if I get my way...) and I promised DH no pre-RD ADRs. He has wanted to strangle me for the last two trips for getting him up at 6a on "vacation". I want to take them to 50's PT, Teppan Edo (we don't have any Japanese around here), and maybe LTT. I'd love to do Cali Grill, but IDK if it's worth the 2CR for us. If I get a decent paying job, we'll go deluxe and I won't have to worry about it! :rotfl2:

I may be able to buy points from some friends of our who are in the blue/green vacation club and they can convert those points to WDW. Norma said we could have them if they've got them.

Is it bad I know what we'll do 2 years out?

Tomorrow starts hell month.

And we only have 16 days left of school.

Sorry about your first statement.....

And envious of your second!.....:( We've got 7 weeks to go. At least it was a mild winter with only one snow day. I'm just ready for them to be done; I liked last week with no homework to monitor and no dragging kids out of bed in the morning!!

What a great b-day gift and they really appreciated it.

Sorry about the lice situation. We had to deal with it once when my daughter was in 2nd grade. No fun.
