I just read an article re: the FastPass system and pulled this little gem out of it....

"Some say this is the first step in making way for Disney World's yet-to-be-revealed ride reservation system called XPass, where resort guests can reserve their ride times weeks and months in advance. And it is expected to allow for bookings for character meet and greets and key viewing spots for parades and fireworks."

Sadly it's not an April fools joke, as it was written on March 8th.

Seriously??....now we'll have to be worried about making ADRs for RIDES??! Honestly if Disney goes down this path, I'm likely tossing in the towel. It's bad enough having to deal with making dining decisions six months out, but rides?.....c'mon people!! It's especially confusing for first-timers, I think, and leaves even less room for spontaneity. :sad2:

HOW is this a good idea??

I don't understand why Disney is doing this and I've tried to wrap my head around it since I heard about this about a month ago.

Right?! Seems way over the top to me. It's bad enough having to schedule your day around an ADR. You toss ride times into the mix and for crying out loud you've changed the entire dynamics of a theme park experience.

It's not. It's a terrible idea. There's also reports of the more money you spend on the resort, the more FP you'll have available. Values will stay at the two hour or time expire mark, mods every hour, deluxe every 15 minutes or so.

Not okay.

So I'm sitting here this morning waiting for a phone call from work to see if I'm going in today or not. Got a call last night (late, I got the voice mail this morning) saying not to come until I hear from them.....Apparently last night they went into the boiler room and discovered heating oil all. over. the floor....
The later it gets, the less likely I am to go in, since I'm only part-time anyway. I just wish I knew so I could plan my day if I'm not!!

That's just getting greedy. Walt would be disgusted to be pricing the "average" family out of a Disney World experience.

Absoutely.

But someone has to pay for Avatarland.

Dad's been saying for years Walt is turning over in his grave.

...oh yeah - THAT'S fair.....sooooo, now Disney will be CHARGING for Fastpasses - indirectly. :guilty:

Nice little back-door fee there, huh?!......Ridiculous. Walt wanted something that ALL families could enjoy together, not just the well-to-do ones. No, there is no such thing as a "cheap" Disney vacation, but if you have the money for the Deluxe resort, it should end there. To "reward" people for having more money is ludicrous. If they're going to do something like that, it should just be an across-the-board benefit for staying on-site, ANY where. Like EMH is now.

.

Hey ya'll. Hope everyone is good.
After reading back a bit......I don't see how giving the Deluxe guest extra priviledges with the new fast pass system would really work. Wouldn't that end up hurting the values and mods? The first time I heard about this was a while ago. I just thought it was a crazy rumor. I'm sure part of this is coming from what Universal is doing. Who knows.:confused3 Even though we usually stay deluxe this will make us think twice about future trips. I'm looking forward to the day when we take grandchildren. Can you imagine trying to explain to a little one why you can't ride that ride now, your scheduled time isn't for another 3 hours? That would take to much away from a "Disney" vacation for me. :sad2:

How could anyone think that is a good idea? Ridiculous! That ticks me off. They can't be serious. :confused3

Sooooo did you go to work?

I have not heard anything about work this week yet. :sad2:

Hey Smiley! We've missed you. :flower3:

No and they never called either. Kind of a wasted day in some ways if I'm just sitting around waiting for a call!! Ugh. I had some stuff I could have done this morning but didn't want to be too far away, y'know?

That's too bad. Maybe you can work tomorrow. I hope to get a call from work too.

Me too and I hope this doesn't turn out to be some HAZMAT issue!! With heating oil spilled all over, it's gotta stink in there too.....:crazy2:

That certainly needs to be cleaned up and vented properly. I know I wouldn't be able to be near it.

You'll all be buying into DVC now. :snooty: I agree that this whole idea is ridiculous. I always hated how Universal only offered fast passes for people staying on property and thought Disney customer service was so much better for allowing everyone to have the chance, then they go and do this. :sad2: I hope they get enough carp about it that they stop the plan.

I'm pooped. :faint:

I helped my buddy move. ALL.DAY!

We got her into her new place and I made sure she had somewhere to sleep. She's high anxiety so the day was hard enough.

It was excellent to have some girl time too. :)
