August 25, 2012 Magic in NYC!!!!

We are booked... 15 year old dd and myself and who ever wants to tag along with us.

I also requested to join the FB page, as it may be easier for me to access.

We just got off the Dream. What a gorgeous ship!!!

What facebook page?

I am hoping there are more buses leaving at different times.

For sure, I asked the Dis Rep, and they said non-stop back and forth all day from WDW to the ship and back. I will be on the early bus and back after a nice dinner at the 50's Primetime cafe :)

Hi all,
We have been booked on this cruise since DCL 1st opened its calendar. Sadly, we have to cancel. We just can't do 3 cruises next year (esp since this is same itinerary that we'll be doing in Sept, b2b Nov, and Apr.) and since the others have friends sailing with us, this was the easiest one to cancel. :guilty: :sad1:
The reason I'm explaining it here is that we are booked in a SPH, 5020, very desirable. I just sent the email to my TA to cancel so if anyone was waiting for a sph to open up, keep your eyes peeled over the next day or 2.

Even if you're booked through a TA, you could put a courtesy hold on it online until you can get in touch with your TA, then he/she can capture the cabin you have on hold.

Good luck all and enjoy your cruise!!! :thumbsup2

Yeah! Another B2Ber!

We leave for the Dream in less than a month. Doing a B2B on her as well. So excited for that. Crunch time on the diet though. I hate that I do that to myself ....

We had a bit of a panic over the leaked and then hastily retracted proposed new alcohol policy, but thank heavens everything is well again. That was a bit of a close call!

Sorry, I didn't read through all 10 pages but was DCL considering a ban of carry on alcohol?

I have to say with Hurricane Irene blasting through at about the same time of year, I am considering changing to earlier in the year to avoid hurricane season. Does anyone else have the same concern? :confused3

Yes, they were briefly considering changing the policy. The new policy was leaked; outrage ensued; it was quickly rescinded. They were going to institute the 1 bottle of wine or one 6-pack of beer pp per voyage. Many were upset (myself included) because the liberal alcohol policy was one reason we justified DCL's higher prices.

Yes, but who can predict the weather a year in advance? Has anyone looked at the Farmer's Almanac? I haven't yet, but should. We had gorgeous weather this time last year in NY, I think (or at least if it was horrible weather, it wasn't bad enough for me to remember it). Who can tell. We're going to bite the bullet!

what is the current alcohol policy?? I own a wine shop and it would be really great to bring our own!!

never mind...finally found the alcohol policy on the DCL website...$20 corkage at restaurants is great!!! Looks like we'll bring our own wine!!! :cool1: Who knows what the policy will be next year, but as of right now we can go with this...and be happy about it!!!

I always look to see if my cruise price has gone up so I feel better about booking, lol.

My category has not gone up in price, but has anyone else noticed that an outside cabin is now cheaper than an inside for this particular cruise?

2 adults:

Cat 11C: 3784.12$
Cat 10A: 4003.12$
Cat 9C: 3651.12$
Cat 9B: 3827.12$

Not sure what the original inside cabins were price at, but they seem to be selling out quickly!

And a 9A Cat is only around 30$ cheaper than a Cat 7A? Wow.

there's a corkage fee if you bring the bottle to your table, but if you open it in your room (they are happy to provide cork screws if needed from room service or guest services) and pour it into a wine glass ( I believe all rooms have these, although I've only gone concierge so I'm not sure) and you can bring your wine to dinner without paying the corkage fee.

People would rather have an inside cabin than a view of Arthur Kill on SI :scared1:

Just looked last night and I can't believe how much prices have gone up since I booked in April.:scared1: DH was already squeamish about spending this much on a vacation, but maybe if I tell him that our cabins have gone up a few thousand dollars, he'll feel a little better.;)

I like that idea, back and forth all day long!! yippeee!!

Not at all. I always sail this tie of year. Out of New York and out of Florida. We never had any major problems. We even sailed through Irene. If the ship is sailing, I am on it!

Don't worry, it will be fine.
