August 25, 2012 Magic in NYC!!!!

Hi Sunflowergirl66!!

One DD will be 8 the other 5 at the time of the sailing. They have been looking every day at the Disney website about all the things they want to do on the cruise.

I have to learn how to put all the info about us so show it shows up on my posts,

Hi yesguy99! Welcome :wave2:

We are closing in on 1 year, 1 month away!

Can't believe it is almost the end of July already. I have to start Christmas shopping :santa:, although the downpayment on the cruise was technically Christmas shopping. I know it is months away, but I am trying to figure out a clever way to "give" the kids the cruise Christmas morning.

Since most of us seem to be here in the Northeast part of the states, stay cool! The heat index here in Philly is 115 !:sunny:

Thanks Aurora's Mommy,

We have 13 months to save some Money, and I live outside Toronto, Canada, and we are having a major heat here as well,

Hi Everybody, we are booked on the cruise!!!
Our first cruise, my first post ever on the disboards!
I am learning as I go, :dance3:
Hopefully I learn the lingo quickly, so I can sign us up for some of the things going on here.

WElcome :grouphug:

We have a ways to go..but staying up with the board is a good way to get tips and stay excited.

Thank - You,

I would like to join an FE I think, and do some cruisers set up excursions and things together?

I don't think this cruise will have much in the way of excursions. Just one at Nassau and that's a very navigatible island on its own. Otherwise we stop at Castaway Key and Cape Canaveral where your excursion would be DW.

Thanks, I guess I meant things to do off the boat, ie. swim with the Dolphins, Atlantis,... something along those lines, if people meet here and make plans?

Also, is anybody going to NYC from the Niagara Falls area? I have been reading some other forums regarding hotels, the price of parking etc, I was originally going to drive down, but am now thinking about Amtrack,

Anybody have any ideas yet?

Also, what about leaving the ship for the day at DisneyWorld, has anybody thought about/ and or booked a way to get from the ship to WDW?

Thanks:yay::yay::yay:

Actually WDW won't be the only possible excursion during the stop at PC. There's always Kennedy Space Center, there's a wildlife preserve in the area, etc.

DCL is providing a 1 day park hopper ticket & transportation to those going to WDW from the ship.

Also if you plan to visit Atlantis you can look into booking a room at the Comfort Suites on Paradise Island. It gives you full access to Atlantis including the waterpark & casino for the day. It is also just a short walk from Atlantis. It may be considerably cheaper than booking through DCL. Myself, DD9 & another couple are doing this next month and we're saving approximately $300 by booking the room at Comfort Suites.

Thanks, I didn't realize transportation was included, I did hear about the park hopper passes.

As for the Comfort Suites, do you book the room and not use it? Just get a room for the sole purpose of using the Atlantis facilities? Sounds like a good plan. Do you do this because its way more fun for the family than what there is to do around Nassau? I have never beeen to the Bahamas.

That's exactly the reason! You check in & check out at the same time, they'll give you your pass and you head over to Atlantis to get your wristbands and that's it! You can head back to the ship when you're done. There's no reason to go back to CS.

As far as other things in Nassau, many folks don't like it. I personally have no problem with it. There are other things to do but Atlantis seems to be one of the popular excursions along with the dolphin encounters.

My DH is from Buffalo. We were just in Niagara Falls this past Memorial Day and have been there quite a few times. We usually do the drive. It's about 7 hours to NYC, but I can understand not wanting to drive and leave the car. We've flown but never have taken the train. I'll ask DH to comment he may have some more ideas since he's done the trip way more than I have.

Thank you - I think I figured out that taking the train will just be slightly more than paying 30 bucks a day for parking for 8 days, plus fuel etc....

I appreciate you looking into this for me, if anybody else has any ideas that would be great. I dont think there are too many cruisers from my neck of the woods here?

Trying to catch up on all the new cruisers who have joined our sailing!

Thank you to those from NYC who have offered some ideas for what to do with children while in NYC, I think we might do The Circle Line as we haven't done this before. And we may look at Mary Poppins if its still on. The zoo might be fun and a picnic in Central Park mmmm so much to do and thats before we get on the ship!!!! Thank goodness for 2 days at sea and a great kids club. DD will be 5 and DS will be 1 (almost 2) when we sail.
Well thats me checke in - oh did someone mention FE? We would like to take part if there is one going.

Hello everyone!!! DH and I just finished our first cruise on the Magic (July 9th in the Med) and our newfound addiction "forced" us to book this cruise before we disembarked!! :lmao:

We're hoping to get a huge gang together for this sailing... So far, it's just DH and I (mid-to-late-30s) but we have other friends that want to join us!!

We're planning to drive to the port from Montreal and park there. It's still cheaper than a flight and it's only a 5.5(ish) hour drive.

Quick question about the one day PH they're giving us: does anyone know whether or not we would be able to use it towards our AP renewal? I've been able to do so before with other "one day included" packages, but I'm not sure how this one will work...

Looking forward to meeting everyone!! :goodvibes

welcome:cheer2::cheer2:

Isn't that Med cruise just terrific? We went last summer. We had a blast. Don't know the answer to your questions regarding the tickets. I haven't focused too much on this cruise because I have an Alaskan cruise in 3 weeks. AFter that I'll be here more often.

Thanks Mindy! And ENJOY YOUR CRUISE!! That might be our 2013 trip... If the Mouse doesn't head back to the Med that year! :rolleyes1

I don't know who is doing the FE list, but we would be interested in participating. No flight means that I have the luxury of space for trinkets!! :woohoo:

I don't know if anyone is maintaining the FE list...I thought my DH might be. Just post your info and he'll include it. He started the thread...bigbootee
