August 2011 Code Watch Lets keep each other company for the next year!!!

Could anyone help me out with this question?

If we check in on 8/14 & then use the new code starting 8/16 and for the remainder of our stay (1 week) would we have to have 2 separate reservations with 2 different down payments? The new code has me running numbers. :teacher: Thanks!:)

Yes. I am going through the same thing. I always wanted to arrive on 8/16 but FD started on 8/19 so I have had 2 reservations for a long time. I just rebooked our first reservation to add the discount.

Have I missed the AAA rates for early August? I can't seem to find any.

We're booked with AAA rates for 8/8 to 8/18. It's not much of a savings, but is better than nothing. Our travel agent (not AAA) did the booking for us. If a better code comes along for all of our dates, we'll drop the AAA and will use the newer code.

Good luck! I do know that there are a limited number of AAA rooms per resort, but there should still be AAA availability.

We are going Aug 23-30th and staying at the Grand Floridian. We booked this week because of the free dining but now the room only discount will save us even more money since we are only a family of 3! So we are pysched!
:cool1:

I am a little worried about the weather that late in August though...

For those of you who have been in Disney in late August - can you tell me how the weather was? And how about the crowds - is it packed because of free dining?
Thanks in advance!! :)

Can't wait! Every summer we say, maybe we should go some where different for vacation this summer, then we think - NO WAY! There is no better place than Disney World!!

The weather is still awfully hot. But the crowd levels are much better. There's no coincedence that the room only offer start Aug 16. Rights around that time, Florida and many other states go back to school. We went last year at the end of Aug through Labor Day weekend. Crowds were real low. We pretty much walked on to everything with no more than a 10 minute wait - except TSM, of course. Only when it got to Saturday of Labor Day weekend did the crowds pick up.

Thanks, I'm looking at BCV from July 29 for 10 nights, I've checked the AAA website and its only showing rack rate. I'll try calling Disney myself and see.

Thanks! I can take the heat, I just didn't want huge lines! :)

The later in August you go, the less crowded it will be. When did you go last year?:)

We went 8/15 to 8/23 and did our last 2 days at universal, lower crowds after Saturday.

Free dining starts late August. Might see a rise in crowds. We've gone 3 times in August and it has always been crowded but not unbearable. Hot too!

Our trip began before the FD promotion in 2008, but the 1st day of FD started during our trip. Crowds actually picked up for the FD promotion! POR was fully booked, and the food court was a zoo with FD newbies and long lines. The parks were crowded, too.

I think a lot of people with kids take advantage of the FD in August before school starts. Perhaps it's the last week or so in August that the crowds start to decrease because of the school year starting in many areas.

Sept. is much less crowded than August. Much less.

We went the last week of August last year, departing on Sunday of Labor Day weekend. During the week, crowds were very low. We had no more than 10 minute waits for EVERYTHING with the exception of TSM (which went down and out for the day around Noon on the day we were at HS - but had 90 minute posted wait prior to going down). Only on our last two days (Sat & Sun of Labor Day weekend) did we see a very noticable spike in crowds. And even then, it was still very manageable.

HOPING for a FD announcemnt or pin for the end of August :wizard:!!!! I'm kicking myself for not booking during the FD promotion--I obviously was not thinking :confused3

My sister & her 2 boys will be joining us & they have never been to Disney! SUPER excited :):cheer2:

Just booked a trip over the weekend for Aug 26-Sept 3 at the Beach Club using the 40% PIN we received.

Call and see if there is a pin attached to your name! I did, and had one and the check in date had to be after August 20th or 21st. A week later, I got a flyer in the mail with another PIN

What are the dates of your second pin? I am hoping for free dining starting August 16. Right now we have a a room only discount until the free dining discount kicks in but I would love to be all on 1 reservation.
