August 2011 Code Watch Lets keep each other company for the next year!!!

HOPING for a FD announcemnt or pin for the end of August :wizard:!!!! I'm kicking myself for not booking during the FD promotion--I obviously was not thinking :confused3

My sister & her 2 boys will be joining us & they have never been to Disney! SUPER excited :):cheer2:

Here is some pixie dust for you :tinker: I booked it last year when it came out!

I'm just still waiting for those AP rates... I think they came out in Feb last year, and I'd love to get a couple nights before our DVC stay...;)

Has anyone ever booked the Swan or Dolphin? We've never stayed there and with that "recipe" club you can join it says you get 50% off their rates, which I'm not really sure what that means. I'd consider that since we'll be driving down and I don't need the ME.

anyone?:confused3

So my family and I are going Aug 22-Aug 29 and have not totally settled on a resort yet...still narrowing it down between Poly, BC and SS or Old KW. Any recommendations? Going with 2 adults, 3 kids (9, 9 and 4) and 2 grandparents.

Currently I'm using the YW3 code that gave us 30% off the room but was curious from others past experience if there will be better codes to come in the near future? Also any codes that you can combine or is it only one at a time? Thanks from this newbie on here!

It's always just one code at a time.

Are you intersted in a 2 BD or 2 rooms? If you want two rooms, Both the Poly and the BC are great for location and the experience. For the 2 BD unit, OKW is fantastic. The resort is super laid back and beautiful, they have a boat to DTD and the room itself is huge. You don't get the convenience of walking to a park, but OKW is very charming in it's own way. (You can tell we love it there!)

Is the best discount for villas only 30% for the end of August? I find that hard to believe. I bet for deluxes or villas it must be at least 40%.

Actually I mistyped, the discount for the room only rate for the villa is 40%. So which one is "better"? SS or OKW?

Everyone has their own likes and dislikes... but we prefer OKW to SSR. SSR does have a much better counter service than OKW, but Olivia's (the TS) at OKW is great. Getting to DTD is easy from either resort. The boatride is very relaxing! You can walk from SSR though. But the rooms at OKW are huge!

I like the "feel" of OKW. SSR is a lot more "hotel" feeling to me than OKW.

Check out all the pictures here on the DIS and on allears. It helps you get a feel for the place.

:goodvibes

Well thanks for the info. We are still trying to see if the grandparents are coming for the entire 8 days or not and that will determine a villa vs room for us. Thanks for the info.

So we were a little late deciding to book our annual Disney vacation but decided just 2 weeks ago to do it. We prefer to be on monorail with a kitchen and since we were saving our DVC points for the following year I began looking for a discount. I tried directly thru disney for BLT 1 bedroom to no avail - rack rate only. I even called them and still got rack rate. Checked Expedia and travelocity and even emailed Small World Vacations (I think thats who it is thru mousesavers) and still all got rack rate. Could get the deal on a studio but with 3 little girls we much prefer the 1 bedroom for some adult privacy. A few days later I thought I'll check Orbitz. Orginally it only showed a studio but I clicked on it and said I could upgrade to a 1 bedroom for a small amount more. Low and behold I was able to secure the 1 bedroomn lake view we wanted for BLT on the exact dates for 40% of. All by accident. Only downside is I had to pay the full amount right away. But at least we will be going with that all paid off.

Moral of the story. Try not to give up until you get what you want. Good luck to all and I hope you all get what your looking for.

That's fantastic! :wizard: what are your dates?

Bumping this thread too... still waiting on a discount for my two nights in late July/early August.

I have to say I'm surprised that there is no general public discount out for summer. I know it might be months before I see an AP rate, but at this point I'll take whatever I can get!;)

We are going August 10-19 and staying at the Beach Club Resort. It is me (wife), my husband and our 3 girls (11,11,13). I am not a lucky person and haven't ever won anything, but I am praying and hoping for a free dining pin. I am trying to do anything I can, but I guess it isn't in the cards. Hopefully, someday.

Does anyone know if there is a reason the general public 25-30% off for Deluxes only runs through stays until August 13th?

Kinda new to the whole Disney pins/offers thing. We went on our first trip that my wife and I had planned (both had been as kids with our families, but never been involved in planning/paying) last May (2010) and I just happened to notice in my email that I had gotten a few pins for the 30/35/40% off rates, and we booked Beach Club. I figured this was a fairly regular thing because I hadn't really done anything special except sign up for the planning DVD.

We recently have decided to do a big family (including our son's grandparents and aunts/uncles and such) Disney trip this August, because we have a window where everyone is free from August 14th thru the 29th. I told my parents I probably had some sort of "pin", like I did last year, but realized that my offers (30/35/40), which I received via email throughout December, january and february, had all expired already. I noticed there is that general public 30% off going on now, but like I say above, it cruely falls right outside our window.

Is there ANY chance of additional pins coming out for an end of August vacation, or the general public offer getting extended to include more days as time goes on? Or is there a specific reason I'm not aware of why it cuts off when it does?

Thanks all!

We also need mid-late Aug dates.... Hoping the AP discounts are released soon :wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard:
