Are Teslas safe in Disney parking lots?

Really? I won't tell my daughter that...
Rental car companies tend to license their cars where it's advantageous with respects to property taxes or business-friendly states. Where I live in Kansas (at the border of KS and MO) I have never seen a rental car that had a Kansas plate even when picking up the car locally as opposed to the airport (which is in Missouri), it's usually plated from Missouri but we've rented cars locally that have Florida plates, Minnesota plates, North or South Carolina, etc

And don't forget people who drive the rental cars from different states and the company weighs the odds of keeping that car or having it go to somewhere else (usually depends on what the market draws in terms of types of cars). We're about to pick up a rental car Sunday (and like I said it'll 99% for sure have a plate other than KS where I'm picking it up) and driving it to Chicago dropping it off at the airport that sort of stuff happens. For Disney people might be driving from all over and dropping it off at airports and satellite locations and if it's a type of car the area thinks will command bookings they'll probably keep it there.

We also like to see where different plates are coming from but we've never judged based on that plate....well other than someone's driving skills ;)

That is a possibility much like the certain models and years of Kia and Hyundai
My daughter can't get collision or comprehensive on her 2014 Hyundai, just liability.

I don't get this protest. Elon doesn't own the cars being burned. Hard working individuals own the cars are and are the ones being hurt. And in some cases, they will got out and buy a replacement Tesla, so Elon wins,
It is what/who they represent.

Are they burning personally owned cars?

All the stories I have read are dealerships being attacked, cars that Tesla owns. I guess they could be Tesla service centers and customer cars there for service but I think the intention is to target unsold vehicles.

That might be because of the age.

The ones that were targeted by insurance companies due to thefts because of not having immobilizers were certain models of Hyundai and Kia from 2015-2021. The ones the insurance companies won't insure it's not that they won't allow full coverage it's that they won't insure it period. The specific VIN of a car will come back as an issue.

Ironically we had been looking at a 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe but the chip shortage was too severe at that time. We had to get a new vehicle in August 2023 as my husband's car was totaled and we did end up with a 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe but we made sure before we leased the vehicle that our insurance company would accept it just to be on the safe side even though it wasn't part of the issue that caused certain insurance companies to not insure certain makes and models.

I'm not sure how much of an issue that is in 2025 since they released software updates to fix the issue but we all know how recalls and software fixes and all that takes forever when it comes to manufacturers.

10 days in Florida after you move into a residence, start working, or enrolling a child in public school as the tests they apply.
In California you have 20 days.
If you are a recent resident in California, you need to register your vehicle within a span of 20 days of moving.

you are considered a resident of California if:
  • You are registered to vote in California.
  • You are gainfully employed in California.
  • Your place of business is located in California.
Note This does not include military personnel.
  • You pay resident tuition at a public institution of higher education such as a university or college.
  • You have dependents who attend a primary or secondary school.
  • You are a homeowner with a property tax exemption.
  • You rent a property in California.
  • You have claimed residency to obtain a license, privilege, or other benefit that non-residents cannot obtain.
  • You have a current California driver’s license or ID card.
  • You are determined to be a resident because of acts, occurrences, or events that indicate that your presence in the state is more than temporary or transient.

When are you going? If it is in more than a week I wouldn't worry about it. In the next few days several people involved in attacks at dealerships are most likely going to be charged as domestic terrorists. This should stop the rest of the gutless losers from messing with Teslas any more.
Unfortunately there is no federal charge for domestic terrorism. They'll be charged for the crimes, but not for terrorism.

The big one I have been reading about was a Tesla Body Shop in Las Vegas so customer cars. And OP is asking about parking a personal Tesla at WDW, so most likely a privately owned car.

OP: If you are so worried about your car, consider not taking it to WDW. It's impossible to guess what could happen.

My SIL's new car was dented and scratched the day she got it in her DIL's driveway. A total accident. They happen.

Yup. Worked with one guy 3 years, he never got a California Driver's license or California plates on his car. He did keep his Michigan license and plates up to date.

I own a Tesla. I never considered that to be a political statement. I just really like the car.

I'm also a passholder and visit Disney a lot. Keyed paint is unsightly and costly to fix.

Serious question: should I be worried that someone might intentionally damage my car while I'm parked on Disney property?
Why don't you just switch your Telsa to an Audi A5?

Its Florida. Tesla vandals are in other states that are a little more sympathetic

If you live in CA, then yeah...I'd be concerned about parking it just about anywhere.

Correct which is why many people are dumping their cars. Way too expensive to operate and insure. People can't afford them anymore.
