Are Teslas safe in Disney parking lots?

I see your point, but I honestly think it's not impossible given the recent news reports. I've never heard of mass shootings at Magic Kingdom, either, but Disney scans us for guns before entering the park.

I believe some risks are real based on the world we live in: just because we haven't yet experienced it specifically in Disney world is not proof that it cannot happen there in the future.
You are reading far too much into my simple question.

Of course it's possible. And maybe even something to worry about given the recent news reports. My simple question wasn't suggesting it cannot happen. I was just curious if you (or anyone else) had heard of it happening.

With the attacks being labeled as domestic terrorism by the DOJ, does that mean if the OP’s car is attacked at Disney the insurance company will not cover the repair?

Often there are exclusions for acts of terror.
'
By statute, auto coverage is not allowed to exclude for act of terror...which is probably why these incidents could be labeled domestic terrorism with no penalty to the victim, only to the perp.

I agree. My friend told me that supposedly "terrorism" is not an official Federal crime. They can only charge for the specific acts committed, such as "vandalism." Folks are certainly eager to label things as being "domestic terrorism", so it's confusing if there isn't even a legal definition of that on the books.

This is why I drive beat up 10+ yr old Hondas with 150,000 miles on them. Nobody ever wants to steal it or mess with it. :rotfl2:
you have to make sure you get one post emissions system change. Otherwise, you'll find your cadalytic converter cut off.

That's incorrect. For auto insurance acts of terrorism are normally excluded by coverage, subject to state laws.

You're thinking of property and casualty coverage but auto it's generally excluded same for acts of riots, etc. I do think missiles however are normally (subject to state law and policy language) covered for auto insurance.

Good to know.

I know insurance rules can vary greatly state by state. Is the statute state specific or does it apply to all?

Honestly, part of the reason I looked into buying my Tesla was because it was more energy efficient. When I used to work for Kelly Blue Book, the whole office was in love with Teslas and in awe of Musk. A bunch of us stood in line when they first opened up reservations for the Model 3, and we all thought we were "saving the world" or something. I just don't get it, either. But I still love my car, and I've even named it after one of my pets. It's never done anything to hurt anyone, so please don't key it!
Well hopefully this goes away as fast as it came.

Pretty sure the individual(s) that wake up in the morning feeling the need to damage someone else’s vehicle don’t care where it’s parked. You will be better off doing your thing and don’t even think about it at all.

Your Tesla might be less susceptible to being keyed if you put on a bumper sticker such this "I BOUGHT THIS BEFORE WE KNEW ELON WAS CRAZY" one.

Having said that, you are probably safer from being keyed in a Disney parking lot than in most other public lots. Disney will have cameras everywhere, and someone keying a car could quite possibly get a lifetime ban from Disney property, as well as being prosecuted.

Well, yeah, but I have a deductible. That would equate to a very expensive visit to the parks.
If you have a high deductible I would lower it until this thing blows over, I'd give it maybe 3 months of extra premium to offset the kooks.

I would not climb in a Tesla right now if UBER was offering free rides because they are plainly a target for the unstable who, lets not forget, made the brand what it is and made the guy the richest man in the world... utterly bananas. Meanwhile everyone in their SUVs just watching the circus popcorn::

Hope you stay safe.

I own a Tesla. I never considered that to be a political statement. I just really like the car.

I'm also a passholder and visit Disney a lot. Keyed paint is unsightly and costly to fix.

Serious question: should I be worried that someone might intentionally damage my car while I'm parked on Disney property?
I thought you meant that you were worried about it catching fire and damaging other people’s vehicles. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Ha, I have a Tesla...it's a lease, and when it's done, we're done with Tesla. I'd thought about getting one of those stickers, but then worried that the *other* side might key the stupid thing. It's no fun driving a lightning rod, I can tell you that much ;). And I know lots of other Tesla drivers....there are a ton in my area. Anecdotally, I'd say at least 50% are planning on selling them or not getting another one in the future.

As to the OPs original question. I think it's as safe on Disney property as any other place right now, which is to say....less safe than it was before. We'd also thought that Sentry would pick up someone who might key the car to identify them, but also won't participate into having someone prosecuted for domestic terrorism for keying a stupid car.

Oh well....thankfully there are other EVs out there for the next vehicle and we have only used a Tesla charger once....we charge at home and drive locally...no road trips.

So the terrorism is working on you, but you don't want terrorists prosecuted? How many other things will you allow someone to do that will cost you thousands of dollars with no punishment?

I don't think vandals should be prosecuted like terrorists. They should be prosecuted for sure....based on the amount of property damage inflicted. If someone got hurt or killed in one of these instances, they should be prosecuted for those crimes as well. Same as any other vandal, or person charged with manslaughter, aggravated assault...etc.

All that I'm saying....that I would not personally turn someone in for messing with my Tesla only to have them be "over" prosecuted for terrorism....something that could absolutely destroy someone's life....because my car is keyed. It's way over the top....and only being described as terrorism because our Co-President/Chief Little Buddy owns the company.

Dang, you wouldn't prosecute someone who damaged your vehicle? You do you, I guess.
