Are Americans really this ignorant or lazy :)

I just assumed that the people with the ice cream carts and other carts wash their hands in those bathrooms, and that because of that they have to have the same handwashing instructions one sees in restaurants.

I know around here the signs don't have to come from the health department. At my son's preschool they have handmade signs with photos of the kids illustrating the steps. They look cute and still fufill the health department's rules.

Know how to wash our hands? Are you joking? Just got home with my DD4 who discovered that most of Disney has sinks made to her level. She washed and washed and washed. Favorite attraction :rotfl: Then there was my husband who always had our DS2 in his stoller so would often use the handicappe stall so he could push the stoller in and watch son who found out he could wash and wash in the handicapped sink while standing in his stroller. Our kids had the cleaniest hands in the park. Plus we still used sanitizer.

Nope...Those signs are for the Europeans. ;)

Ahh the commercialization of a restroom. Now I've seen it all

If you don't like the commercialization of restrooms, don't bother with the Anheiser-Busch parks.

I've seen countless folks use the bathroom and just run their hands under the water and walk out, no soap, nothin'.

Part of me wonders if the people that do that are just trying to "fool" the others in the bathroom into thinking that they really washed their hands.

I think it's a great idea to have those signes up! as a few people have already said that not all cultures are as cleanly as others so it helps to have a reminder. I keep moist towelettes in my bag or purse at all times and try to make sure the family and I always use them...too many germs out there spread by yucky hands!

I use the napkin I dried my hands with to open the door when I'm done. LOL

Me too!!! I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Since WDW is such a mecca for so many different cultures shouldn't the signs have been made in like 12 different languages. Not everyone can read English you know. Oh, or have little pictures to go along with the directions. I think most visitors can understand some verbal English, selectively at times, but reading all those directions might be too difficult.
Hey, maybe one of those lights that show germs so on your way out you pass your hands under and get a red light or green light like at a toll booth. :lmao:

I wash my hands, get a towel and try them, use the towel to turn off the faucet, then use the towel to open the door, hold the door with my foot and toss the towel in the trash and leave. Am I paranoid or what!!!

I'm just the opposite. You've probably seen me trying to fool you by running my fingers through the water. Handwashers are responsible for the superflu. My theory is to build up as much resistance as possible, I have to stay away from antibacterial soap at all costs! :duck:

Seriously though, if these sponsorships will get toilet paper in public restrooms that aren't made of wax paper and powdered glass, I'm all for them. :coffee: (What's in that coffee?)

Don't know about the rest of Europe - but here in UK we're taught not to pee on our hands in the first place! :teeth:

Add me to the list of people who is alergic to most soaps. It is NO fun.

So I always carry hand sanitizer with me. You may not see me apply it in the bathroom, because it is usually in my bag & I dont always carry that into the restrooms. But you bet I use it as soon as I am out of the bathroom.

Yes, for the most part people are not washing their hands, for no reason. :crazy2:

But if you see me walking out of the bathroom without washing, dont judge me. I am heading straight to my hand sanitizer. And remember, if I DID use the soap, my hands would be blistered & raw within a few minutes. Not eactly the most comfortable.

Now at least I know what I've been doing wrong.
I always dryed my hands with paper towel before applying soap :confused3

First of all I'd like to apologize for that somewhat nasty comment from Freakylick! EVERYONE forgets to wash their hands on occasion, some are more strict with washing constantly. I was born in europe but was raised state side so I consider myself European AND American and no, we do NOT pee on our hands either! please don't take offense by off comments...I guess it's a touchy subject. (no pun intended)

Some of the comments on this thread crack me up!! :teeth:

The signs are a riot!! I could use at least three at my house (not for my own kids, of course - they're perfect ;) - but for their friends!!!! LOL) :lmao:

I love it! :thumbsup2

:lmao: Europeans are so smart!

And notice the sign says to "dry hands thoroughly" with paper towels...thoroughly being the operative word...so you use more paper towels, therefore they sell more paper towles! I think that's the true meaning behind the sign.

I always wash my hands before leaving a restroom, EXCEPT when the restroom is filthy and the door knobs are nasty. In those cases I feel that my hands are cleaner than the surfaces in the room.

However, it is rare that a restroom at WDW is really dirty. I have ran onto that condition only two or three times in years of visiting WDW.

The problem is I find alot a people "don't like to read". There should be a voice that says "Wash Your Hands, I Mean You" when people try to walk out without washing their hands. Maybe then, they MIGHT get the message. :teeth:

First...take out "Americans" and just put in "People" !!

Then.......sadly but true.. :crazy2:

YES is the answer!!

It's called ADVERTISING. Notice the brand names.

These signs are all over WDW in the restrooms. What the heck is going on? Didn't get much response over in the trip reports. Anyone? Bueller? This is CRAZINESS!! :)

Are these new? I didn't notice any on our Dec trip.

I took it more as a advertisement for the paper towel brand. But, unfortunately, there are people out there who don't wash their hands. I've witnessed tons of people doing that when I was down there last week. :crazy2:
