Are Americans really this ignorant or lazy :)

While it bothers me greatly to see people leave a restroom without washing, it's a serious peeve for my husband. I've seen him walk out of a restroom following another man, and announce to me that "that guy didn't wash his hands, isn't that nasty?" loud enough for the man to hear.
It gets the other guy walking really fast. :lmao:

My DH does this too!!!!!!!! Hilarious!

This may be hilarious to most of you, but sadly, some people really don't know how to properly wash their hands. I work in a University where you would think intelligent people would know what to do...WRONG! I've seen countless folks use the bathroom and just run their hands under the water and walk out, no soap, nothin'. Or, worse yet, they come out of the stall and run right back to their meetings, never stopping to wash their hands. It has been stated that the worst area for picking up germs is the fax machine, and the copier machine in an office. Why? Because everyone is using the keypads and they don't wash their hands after using the toilet. Ugh! Gross. We keep a can of Lysol here and spray and wipe down the keypads often. So, I do believe there are lots of people who are just lazy and do not practice good hygiene. If those signs help at all, I'm all for it. :worship:

I figured that it was simply a way for "Sparkle" to get some advertising.

I don't think the signs would be there if there wasn't a sponsor.

I live in Pittsburgh, and the Allegheny County Health Department has businesses post handwashing reminders--and instructions on proper techniques--in the restrooms. Fine with me, I say!

Now if they would just have directions in the stalls telling me how to wipe. Maybe Charmin could sponsor that. :rotfl2:

Front to back! ;)

In all seriousness though, I had one of my daughters friends over (female) and she left the bathroom with out flushing or washing her hands. I went into the bathroom afterwards to flush and there was no toilet paper in there only yellow water. So I mentioned to this little girl, didn't you wipe your bottom? She told me that she only peed she so she didn't have to wipe, that is what her mom told her????? Ewwwww......

Most of the signs like that have been placed in restrooms all over the Central Florida area (even Walmart has them)... Being a cultural melting pot, it is just a reminder to ALL that washing your hands is a good idea. I think they are more to remind everyone (as all cultures do not share the same hygiene technics) that this is necessary, it is not that Americans are lazy.

And Sparkle is a sponser as mentioned above...

The only problem with that is the sign is in english. Down here in Southwest Fl. only a few people actually still speak english. There are more people who speak spanish than anything. At my church when your sitting on the stall there is a sign on the door that reminds you to wash your hands after you've finished, it also says it in spanish. :thumbsup2

Ahhhhhhhh, apply the soap first, not last. Now I know why I always have really soapy hands.

With so many visitors to WDW who apparently don't speak English, I would hope that similar signs would be posted in Spanish, French, Japanese, Farsi, etc. Yeah, it would pepper the wall with signs, but no one would have an excuse.

:rotfl: hehehe :lmao:

Very funny, johnvree. LOL.

Many of the guys in my office either walk right out of the bathroom without going near the sinks or they do a half-hearted "run-the-fingers-under-water" for all of 2 seconds. A lot of the time, the latter skip the towel step and walk out with hands dripping.

Makes you wonder where that wetness dripping down the door handle comes from....from the guys that skip the sink entirely or the ones that do the quick rinse.

Where can I get these signs??

I once asked somebody who did not wash after using the toilet why she did not wash her hands. She told me, I only touched the toilet paper so my hands are not dirty!!!! :headache:

Wow I would be embarrassed if someone pointed me out...especially since I'm allergic to 95% of hand soaps so I always do the "friction" method with soap and water only or I just leave and go use the sanitizer in my purse. To me that's better than looking like a leper when I break out in hives from the dyes in the soaps...But hey, maybe you guys prefer leper fingers.

The signs are really funny. I've never seen anything like that aside from restaurants, that kind of thing where employees have to see them (the ones from the health dept.).

I heard a lady in the airport tell her son who was about 3, "DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING!!! EWWWW!!!" Then she walked right out of the bathroom without washing her hands......EWWWWWW!!!!

Sadly there are some people who do not wash their hands. DH had a good laugh as our DS aged 5 told some old guy who was walking out of the restroom "That's gross you should wash your hands after you use the toilet!!"
As my nursing instructor bluntly put it "if you do not wash your hands after using the bathroom...do you really know what you are eating?

Now that I think about it, they guys at work often don't flush the toilets either. Are there signs for that as well?

I would be happy to make you one!!!

Hey, we've been told how to shampoo our hair for years: lather, rinse, repeat! (They never say how many times to repeat though; I guess until the shampoo bottle's empty :teeth: )

I'm surprised that the washing instructions aren't on the bars of soap we buy...
