April 29, 2012 ~ Aloha! ~ Inagural Wonder to Hawaii-Part 4

My husband and son get motion sickness and I am concerned about the how much motion we will have being so far forward.

I've been forward twice and no issues either time. I take Bonine, which appears to be a non drowsy form of meclezine. Take it starting BEFORE you sail - I take one every morning and it seems to do the trick.

A question about customs: how will customs work for things that we purchase in Hawaii when we leave the ship in L.A.? Will we just not need to declare those items?

Now THERE's a good question!

I'm thinking like this - Hawaii is a state so we shouldn't have to declare those purchases, but i'm betting we'll have to declare our shipboard purchases and obviously anything we buy in Ensenada. (Stupid rule, visiting a foreign port, anyway)

My DW and I were in stateroom 2000--all the way forward on the WBTA 2010--great stateroom--loved it and no motion problems....although getting the toilet to flush a good part of the journey was an adventure.

I am wondering the same.[/QUOTE]

AVENGERS! My son and I want to see the opening of the Avengers! Woooooooo! I'll bet there will be some Iron Man/Captain America/Thor/Hulk PJ's for the showing. But like I said, the last time they did an opening, it was a 1200am. Cant remember if it was May 5 or 6 when it opens.

Every PremEAR at sea I have attended has been at 12:01 of the night when it is showed on land.

Hi Irene, that's too confusing and I can't even say it much less remember it. I think I'll stick with Kepi and it goes well with Keoni.

I DID get your payment. Thank you so much. It won't be long now!!!

True confessions, It took me a week to learn Alocha Kakahiaka,,,,or Good Morning. I hope that is good morning...now what is good night..I know this, I know this..

Aloha hiahi...

is that right?

We live out in central Kansas now. But, we still fly out of Kansas City most of the time. We are leaving on the 26th out of KC on southwest.

We are in Orlando, but we are taking Southwest and WE ARE CHANGING PLANES in Kansas City on April 26! flt 3216 at 6:30pm, arriving in LA at 8:20

Then we are getting our rental car and driving to the hotel near
Canyon Lake.

I have a question maybe someone could help with.

Slowly I have taken up running and just ran my first 5K at the Knotts Berry Farm Coaster Run last weekend. I am by no means a "runner" and still just go at my own pace. During the cruise I would like to run some or at least walk daily.

My question is does anyone know how many laps on deck 4 would equal a mile?

thanks!

I apologize if I have already asked this (can't remember!) since I have been wondering about it for awhile now...if we need more luggage tags, do we just get them at the curb at the port? I'm not sure what they were thinking sending 2 women only 4 luggage tags for a 15 night cruise, especialy considering I need one piece of luggage just for FE gifts, candy swap items, secret mickey gifts, and door magnet type of stuff.

Bonine is a brand name that contains meclizine. It is expensive. The best way to buy it is behind the counter. I get mine at Target and it's labeled "travel sickness pills" and the active ingredient is meclizine. I get 100 tablets for 5.00.

Congrats! Well done on the 5K. Keep up the good work. It says on the DCL website that one lap on Deck 4 is 1/3 mile. I will be out there running as well so I look forward to seeing you on the track.

My guess is the Avengers will be on the ship as it is first Marvel movie after Disney bought them. I would not expect any other movie from Marvel on the ship.

You are mailing from state to state.....unless you would like to insure your package, no declare is needed....I am sure if you ask any major hotel/ or business that you purchase items from, may ship the items [for a fee of course] / or may have a post office near the pier...

Hope this helps

Yes, you can get more luggage tags at the curb! I always have more stuff than they send tags for.

Not sure the OP was thinking of mailing - probably more like the customs form at the end of the cruise.

Love the idea of a Hawaiian Fish Extender...

is there a little devil smilie?

Guess not.....

YES! Think I am out of time though.... Plus nobody would know our real names :confused3

My hubby always checks our flights almost every other day it seems.
Good thing he did - about a month ago. They switched us from flying home after the cruise from 11pm on Monday to 7:30 am on Monday.
We'll still be on the boat!!

Called them, and they put us back ON THE SAME PLANE in the SAME SEATS as what they bumped us from.

Who can figure THAT one out???

Kaneki (Janet)

Seriously, Do the airline seating people ever travel, don't they know we plan every last minute and when they go and throw a spanner in the works it is just not nice! :confused3:sad2:

i wonder what movies theyll have on the ship

Hoping for Avengers too! :goodvibes

Does someone have the address to all of the ports we are staying in so I can run Google Maps to see exactly where we will be docking?

I know I'm alot behind on reading :surfweb: so I apologize in advance if this was answered, but does anyone know if there is a drop off charge for picking up the car at LAX and dropping it off in San Pedro?

Thanks

I actually didn't check....we NEED to return to San Pedro, we just don't have the time to take the car back to the rental and get to the port terminal to check in......:yay::yay::yay::yay:

I remember being told on the Magic that 4 laps around Deck 4 is a bit over a mile. I forget the EXACT distance. Hopefully someone else will have exact figures. :goodvibes
