I was just poking around orbitz and Delta, looking at our flight for December and realized that we have to fly on a 50 passenger plane from Harrisburg to Atlanta.   Yikes!!!!! I'm not a pleasant flyer to begin with and now my palms are sweating already thinking about this 2 hour leg of our flight!

Has anyone flown on Delta's Comair.....Canadair Regional Jet (CRJ)?? How was the flight? I sure hope they have a good track (safety) record!!!!!

I flew on one of these little planes and it was great. They are much quieter than the large planes and the ride felt about the same to me.

I think we flew with Continental Express and I would fly them again.

Have a great time on your trip!

I've also flown on them, and I agree. And the seats are the most comfortable I've sat in , outside of first class. Less headroom than some other planes, but more leg room in the seats I thought.

I use to fly a lot for may job and have been on almost every size and style comuter plane their is. I liked the CRJ . They are a small jet and not a prop joblike the Saab 300 (30 passenger plane that tavels low and slow). Almost any plane is safe when flown by good piolits. I have found most of Comairs piolits to be above average. I have flown some comuters in Mexico that I was sure I was going to not survive. Thank God I have a new job were I don't have to travel. I love coming home to my family every night:D :D

We fly these on the first leg of just about every single trip we take. We have never felt unsafe at all. It's a smooth ride and the seats are fine, very comfortable. We do check our carry on luggage at the plane steps and just take our purse or backpack because the overhead bins are a little smaller. Have a great trip.

50 passengers? Try a 12 seater. I flew on one from Myrtle Beach to Raleigh/Durham (45 minutes)...(wasn't anything I knew about ahead of time though)

Our bags were strapped in a netted area behind my seat. There were 5 passengers on my flight and I was the one in the back seat. There were 3, (count them.. 3!!) steps to enter the plane!!!The pilot was wearing a leather bomber jacket, I am SOOOO not kidding. The stewardess (who sat in the copilot seat during the flight) asked me if I felt comfortable opening the exit door (the ONLY door) in case of an emergency. .. I replied, 'Trust me, if there is an emergency, I WILL get that door opened" Heck, you could probably open the door from the cockpit, the plane was so small. There was a curtain (which they left open) instead of a door to the cockpit, I could see everything I NEVER wanted to see in flight. I could hear everything they said to the control tower. I had decided to wait until I boarded the plane to use the restroom, big mistake...no restroom. Talk about white knuckled. Talk about airsickness. Whew, I love to fly but a crop-duster with a missing wing would not have made me more nervous.

I just sat there praying "Dear Lord, I do not want to be on the news"...then I thought "Geez, with only 7 people onboard, we wouldn't EVEN make the news!!!" So I just prayed to God, "Lord, you know my DH cannot be a single parent, he doesn't even know what size clothes the kids wear, who their doctor is, how to balance a checkbook, how to use the automatic fabric softener thing on the washer......Lord...have mercy, my kids NEED me..."

I survived, you will too. Then you can share your story with us!!!LOL;)

I think as long as the plane is a jet, there is no problem.

I do not like prop jobs.

Many years ago before Key West extended their runways, all the planes that flew out of Miami were prop jobs. There fine as long as the weather is clear and calm.

We once flew from Key West to Miami in one of these small 15 passenger prop jobs through thunder storms. I was the happiest person in the world when I finally put my feet on the ground in Miami. I vowed that day never to fly in a prop job again.

It it's a jet I'll fly, no matter how small. It it's not a jet you better find me another way of getting from here to there.

I've flown Comair; it was quite enjoyable.

I like the CRJs. Smaller means less time loading and unloading. I like anything with wings so I'm not a good source.

My kid's loved them. Though they were way cool. Much better than a big Boeing 767.

I have flown them and have had no problems. I would not worry. Good luck and enjoy your trip!

Yes, I have. It's not as bad as you might think. Usually I would be thankful...the puddle jumpers I get stuck on are smaller!

The smallest plane I've been on seated 4. It is pretty neat because you can see out.

This was in the paper today. Made me think of this thread :)

i've never been in a 50 seater, but i've been in a 20 (don't know the exact number but it wasn't any more than 20) seater several times.

they made people sit by weight b/c the plane wasn't full.

Thanks for your positive replies and some good laughs as well :p

Now I can get back to the fun of planning our Christmas trip!

We've flown Comair CRJ 3 times to Orlando--they are great. Our last trip, between the ease of unloading and National's Emerald Aisle we were on the highway heading to WDW less than 30 minutes after we landed.

My brothers owns a piper, 4 seater. I am the only one in the family that will not get in it. I am afraid to fly but I do it. I think the smaller plains are fine, would I fly in one, NO, I am to chickenS**T!!!!!!!!!!! Those planes are fine, people do it all the time, you just have to get over your fear of it, you'll be fine, put it this way, better then driving, you get there faster.

MaMu ~ that was Air Sometimes AKA Air Sunshine.
When I lived in Cayo Hueso AKA Island of Bones AKA Key West they were my primary transportation on or off the Island.
Back then in the 70's you could buy 10 tickets for like $150.
We'd fly down to Miami for the night and home in the morning.
I think the planes were DC-3's they couldn't fly at night and shouldn't fly in the rain.
Once when we were taxiing out to the runway the Air Sometimes plane hit a baggage cart.
Out of the cokpit cam this guy in a dishevled misfit uniform. His hair was so long I don't think he cut it since he left Nam and his eyes were so red you could tell he was flying before we got off the ground.
"ahh, well we umm we have had a bit of technical difficulties.", He mumbled. We all just saw him hit the darn cart ~ difficulties!
The funny thing is he probably had been my pilot a dozen times already.

We flew on one of the smaller Comair planes from Grand Rapids, Michigan to Cincinnati last time we went to Florida, didn't think anything of it. And several years ago when I went to Texas for a family member's funeral one plane we were in seated about 12 people: single seats on each side, then a row of 4 in the back. My parents were in single seats, I was in the back corner, right by the door. Talk about noisy. But it didn't bother me. My father-in-law is a private pilot and has owned a couple planes, the last one was a low-wing 4-seater. I absolutely LOVED going up with him, and actually cried when he sold the plane and I watched it leave the runway on our farm, being flown by the new owner.... :(
He's in his 60's now so I doubt he'll ever buy another plane....
Hubby has talked about taking flying lessons, he actually knows how to fly (learned from his Dad) but just doesn't have a license...yet.... :D

I'm a reluctant flyer, but the Comair jets are fine. Like others have said, the fact that they're jets and not prop planes makes a HUGE difference. They're much faster and less bumpy.

The stewardess (who sat in the copilot seat during the flight)

with that many seats, I bet he/she was the co-pilot. If it is small enough to not have a bathroom, it doesen't have a flight attendant either.
