Anyone ever sold anything on Letgo?

I’ve had luck selling things on Craigslist, so I always use it. Someone told me about Letgo, so I thought I’d ask here to find out if anyone has used it and what your experience has been. I have some household items and a piece of quality crystal jewelry (not sure if I can say the brand so I won’t) that I’m trying to sell. All items are either new in the box or almost new. I figured I’d post on Letgo if it’s legit to expand my market, so to speak. Thank you!

I've not used LetGo, but I do use an app called Mercari. This is more national so you will have to ship items. I've sold about $200 worth of stuff on it though. It does take a cut of your earnings.

A word of warning on LetGo- I work in law enforcement and I see more robberies take place off of LetGo than any other sales platform. I don't know why. I rarely see anyone robbed from a Craigslist meetup, but I see it all the time with this app. If your area has a designated safe meet zone that's monitored by cameras, I would encourage you to use that.

Oh wow. Thanks, DisneyMandC. The person who told me about Letgo said she had someone ask to meet her when she was selling some luggage on the site. They said where they lived and suggested a meeting site. She agreed to the meeting site, but didn’t say where she lived. She never heard back from the person. This is a red flag to me as it sounds like the person was trying to find out where she lived. And now hearing what you said, it makes me even more suspicious. I always do Craigslist meets in the parking lot of a local police station in a very busy area, but I think hearing this, I’m going to pass on Letgo and stick with Craigslist. Thanks for the input!

Many of the police departments here have a "safe" place for those doing online sales to meet. Usually at the Police department, with lots of cameras and cops around. Around here the Craigslist robberies were getting out of hand so they had to do something.

I've sold a few things on Letgo with no problems. I do always have buyers (Letgo, OfferUp, Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, etc) just come to my house to get the stuff because I don't want my time wasted by no shows. My husband is a Sheriff Deputy, so hopefully when the buyers show up and see a police car in the driveway, it deters them from doing anything sketchy.

I've sold and bought lots and lots on Letgo and Offerup. I've never had a problem with anyone coming to the house or going to theirs. Some towns now have designated meeting places for online transactions. Don't know what makes them special. I dont know if that would have worked when I bout my kitchen table, but it might have been ok for smaller items.

The rules are basically the same as Craig's, except most of these new sites are connected to your social media accounts, so you can creep on people if it makes you more comfortable. You can also look at a buyer or sellers ratings. People who have done business with them in the past get to rate them after the transaction.

I've sold stuff on letgo, but I never give out our home address. I ask buyers to meet at a common area in our community.

Craigslist shut down their personal ads now, you should seek for some other replacement.

I have used Let Go several times when selling or just giving away. We've never had a problem and for some reason we get faster results than Craiglist. You have to use common sense and never meet someone alone. Walmart is the best place because it is so busy all the time.
