Anyone else planning a surprise trip?

:rotfl2: Oh, im sure Zach would come up with a good one!! :rotfl2:

I am down to 19 days and the surprise is still intact! How are you all doing with your plans? Keep the surprises comming!! :ssst:

I to am surprising my husband for xmas, He doesn't know. A while back I bought those golden ears through DISNEY AND THE DAY BEFORE WE LEAVE i AM GOING TO PUT THEM ON THE BED. suprise.

Sounds like a good plan!! Wish I had some Ears for my surprise, hhmmmm? I just ordered a wine basket from WDW florist for our room at WL. Things starting to come together! So excited! :teeth:

I still have 53 days to go before I can even let my Husband in on the surprise!! (I am determined to wait until his Birthday to do it!!.) It has been really hard not saying anything!! So far so good, though! He has no idea!! :)

So far so good! I am managing to keep the secret! About 2 weeks untill we leave! I feel like I have been keeping this secret for years insted of a couple of months! Hope everyone else is having fun with there plans! :teeth:

Believe it or not, I actually started to panic about the whole thing yesterday! I started to think......"What if he is upset about having to take the 2 days off from work?"....."What if he isn't as excited about this as I think he is going to be?"......"What if, what if, what if....."

Has anyone else had this happen? Or am I just nuts?!

Oh yes I am having the same panic atacks at times! I am starting to get nervous about the crowds. I hope that he will be excited when i tell him! I have to stop reading the threads about crowds! I can't change the dates now so I will have to live with it! :flower:

I know what you mean about crowds, Jenny! I got tickets to the Christmas Party for a Friday night. Since I bought them I have read thread after thread about how Fridays should be avoided at all costs for these parties due to the overwhelming crowds!! I really didn't have much of a choice anyway since we will only be there for 2 full days. Either way, im sure we will have fun! :)

So we are doing a short trip to the world October 20 - 25, including MNSSHP! Our girls (DD10 & DD7) have no idea. This is a low-budget trip with us staying at ASMo but we added the Dining Plan. We only are getting 3 day hoppers (the 4th day will be a water park and MNSSHP) and taking Magical Express thereby eliminating the need for a rental car or car service. We got a good Ding! fare that got the family of 4 from BWI to MCO for $600.

This is the start of what we hope to be a string of trips during non-summer months. We have birthdays in November, December (New Years Eve), February and April. Our anniversary is in March. With my work schedule and the girls swim team requirements, it only leaves the month of August to vacation. At this point, we have decided that we will be willing to take the girls out of school for short trips (not the big 10 - 14 day trips). Those will still need to wait until summer.

Rootskate, We went to MVMCP Dec 2003, I think it might have been a Friday I will have to check. As I remember there were alot of poeple around the park, but we still did lots of rides and as it got later it started to empty out. "The fact that I dont remember long lines leads me to believe it was not that bad. I had always gone to WDW in the summer so there was no comparasion to the crowds that I was used to. I think we will have a good time no matter what and so will you!! :goodvibes

I saw this thread, and just had to respond. Last Christmas (must have been in the holiday mood)I decided to surprise my family (DW , DD8, and DMIL) with a 2005 post Thanksgiving week at WDW. DW, found out about it in January, and DD found out in February. It was still a secret for DMIL. In June I finally asked her if she would like to go to WDW after Thanksgiving? She said, No! At the Labor Day picnic it came up again. She still said no. Last night I layed out the whole surprise, explained that this was a gift for her, and the non refundable tickets were purchased. She said - No. See if I pack my lunch for a year to save money for her present again!

DDs think we are just going to WDW "for a few days"...they do NOT know that we are going to be away for 11 days, including a 3 night DCL CRUISE! :cool1: We leave the morning of Dec 6th which is St. Nicholas Day. We put out our shoes the night before and get gifts and this year, St. Nick will be bringing them sand toys and the announcement that 2 days after we get to WDW, we'll be on the Wonder! I'm so excited and I'm having a terrible time keeping the secret!!!

Oh, yes, a surprise last minute trip to be exact! :goodvibes

No one knows about it except me. It will be my youngest DS and I only because my DH has to work. I'm really nervous but still very excited. It has been a long time since I have traveled this far by myself; when my DH is with me I don't care where we go, I don't get nervous at all.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

I just can't keep a secret as big as that!! I tried and it just slipped out. My 9-year-old daughter even asked me to keep it a secret the next time we go, but I just couldn't do it.

Only 4 more days til we're in the World!! Whoopeeee!!! :dancer:

We leave on Oct 29th and aren't going to tell them until we are actaully at the airport and going!! Nana & papa, auntie & uncle are coming too...so there is an extra special treat in it for them!!!

Wow, I wonder why she's not wanting to go?
Well this is a lesson to learn- only do surprise visits for those you KNOW will say YES when it comes time to go! LOL

Mine is still a surprise for the kids (DH knows ofcourse). I can't believe I've kept it a secret this long! :)

Nobody seems to have an answer, not even DW! Oh well, we'll have a good time anyway.

My kids LOVED their surprise trip. They loved the game I made up to tell them the surprise, they loved the surprise PT Cruiser cab ride to the airport, they loved the daily ADR surprise (which special meal, they didn't want to know til the day of), they loved everything about the trip. Logistically, keeping it a secret wasn't that hard--hiding mail I got from Disney, making phone calls for ADRs on my lunch hour at work, hiding the flight info, packing in the basement. There was really never a moment when I almost got caught or when they got suspicious. I had a cover story of going to Chicago, and we did, we flew out of Chicago O'hare. The hard part was my nervous, I got so keyed up the night before and had to surpress my feelings to the point I gagged and almost threw up. I don't know if I'll try to do it again or if the surprise trip was a once in a lifetime memory for my kids. My daughter commented just yesterday on the surprise trip, she said "I always wished to be surprised with a trip to Disney and to have a dog, wishes really do come true!" (We adopted a shelter dog this weekend). I guess the memories make it worth it.

I can't wait to reveal my surprise, I am also having a surprise bday party the night before we leave so I have been busy! I hope it all goes well! DH will be home by 6pm the night I will tell him so I will be sure to log on and tell you all how it went! I am listening to Wishes right now on live365 and it is really getting me in the mood! Happy planning to you all!! :sunny:
