I'm not even waiting on ROFR anymore, but I have to check this thread daily I guess since I do have add-on-itis, I will eventually become a member of this ROFR club. I passed on my first OKW purchase waayyyy back in April, so the details don't really matter!!!!

I wanted to send major pixie dust everyone's way. Hope you all pass ROFR and quickly too

For small add-ons it makes more sense to go through Disney. $400 closing adds $8 per point to the cost of a resale.

Good point Ken , I forgot about that all important closing fee! LOL! For the fun of it, let's just look at a 50 point add on at SSR vs. a 50 point add on at BWV (resale) vs. a 50 point add on at BWV (DVC) :

1) BWV Resale: $73/point (may be generous) + $400 closing =$4,050 + headache of finding contract w/ your u/y + headache of ROFR/closing.

2) BWV Waitlist thru DVC: $89/point = $4,450 +headache of having to be on the waitlist - headache of ROFR/closing.

3) SSR w/current promo: $85/point = $4,250 + headache of having to "wait" to use them - headache of ROFR/closing.

Makes sense to me Ken! I'd go with waitlist or SSR over resale market for a SMALL contract given the current ROFR environment and increase in resale prices. Thanks for bringing this to light!

First Mike Pixie dust all around your gonna get this one.

One caveat AmyBeth, on resale you dont need to find a small contract with the same UY, you can buy a different UY if you dont buy from disney. Only when you add on at $89 dirst do you need same UY, At least thats what im told by the broker im working with which makes sense. Of course the could ROFR you.

Another, ok SSR very large gonna have lots of rooms and lots of home based members, all of whom want to try rooms in BWV BC WL and even the large roms at OKW, so whats the 11 month advantage at SSR. IMHO there is none, in which case I might be better even going $66.00 a point at HH +8pp in closing costs is still only 74 a point and at least this way I might get a room high season if I ever want HH. Plus its MF rival SSR for the lowest

Am I wrong here. Oh well even with all that ill spend more and try and find a WL or BW small add on to increase my (everybody pixie dust) 150 BC pending ROFR

Purchasing at Saratoga Springs affords you twelve more years of usage. To some folks, that makes a difference. Again, it's a matter of personal preference.

...Yes it's true you don't need to buy the same u/y on resale or add-on. I just know that for myself, I'd like to keep it in the same u/y as a current contract for ease of planning. But that is a totally personal decision, LOL, I'm just not very organized to keep track of all those different banking deadlines, etc.

Oh No I totally agree its a total preference and did not mean to imply otherwise. In fact my wife and I are talking of buying a 130 add on there if we get a lump of money that may come in. I like the resort a great deal but also like the flexibility of the 11 month home at a smaller resort too

So im considering small addon at BW or WL or OKW

I just finished reading all 20 pages of this thread and I hope it's not too late to jump in the game. We are waiting ROFR (sent to Disney by Jason at TTS on 8/30).

BWV - 150 points
150 banked from 2003 plus 42 borrowed from 2005
All 2004 points available 10/04
We offered $77/point
Buyer pays all closing and 2004 MF

Jason told me that since they didn't hear this Thursday, to call them next Thursday (he will be away) to see if anything has come through, so I guess all the talk of Disney meeting on Tuesday is true.
