Any ROFR news?

:sad2: Nothing here yet. We are waiting on pins and needles too! We didn't pass our last deal, so we've already been down this road. It took exactly 2 weeks for us to hear last time, so I won't start going crazy :hyper: until it gets a little closer. Ours was sent to Disney on 8/17.

GOOD LUCK! Hang in there...I think we're both waiting on OKW at the same point value!

Amybeth,

You must have a good memory. Ours is 210 at OKW.

I wish I could find out if Disney had any OKW points in its inventory.

I wish I knew as well! Our 1st OKW contract was a great deal at $70/point...obviously too good a deal since Disney snagged it. I just hope this offer isn't as "sweet" for them!

I remember your contract b/c it is VERY similar to ours....we're going for 220 points at OKW.

Here's hoping we BOTH pass and can hear that much anticipated phrase "Welcome Home" SOON!!!!

When would you like to visit WDW on points? We're hoping to get this deal and head back there in April '05. We'll have to see what happens!

This is not directly related to any specific ROFR news, but I thought I'd share a bit of the conversation I had with my guide this past Sunday.

To provide you with some background, we picked up a 200 pt. SSR resale (ultimately, with closing costs, etc., came to $80.50 ppt, with an August UY beginning this year) at the end of June. After taking the SSR tour in June, we were originally going to go for an initial purchase through DVD, but the chance at saving $2k was too good for us to pass up.

Anyway, we knew that we wanted to purchase more points, so we called our guide and delivered the bad news and the good news.

When I menioned that we'd gone for an SSR resale because we simply couldn't pass up the opportunity to save $2k, he replied, "Well, we recently changed our price structuring to try to take care of that."

I'm afraid I can't remember other precise quotes from him, but my impression was that while DVD was not going to try to squash the resale market completely, DVD wouldn't be sad if that market tightened up considerably -- to give them the edge/advantage currently enjoyed by resale buyers and sellers. I got the sense that DVD exercising ROFR would become much more commonplace -- at least for the immediate future.

:(

amybeth ... i've been looking for you

we submitted our OKW resale (230 pts 70 per pt 1/2 2004 MF) to disney on 8/9 .... a few days later i read that disney bought yours and it was almost the same deal. i'm pretty sure we're dead in the water ... but dying to know one way or the other

its two weeks and counting ....

do you mind me asking ... what did you offer on your new contract ?

carlos, how about yours?

anybody else waiting?

btw ... we're with jaki at a timeshare, anybody else?

good luck to all "waiters"

AmyBeth,

If my deal go through we'll have 420 point on 4/1/05. We're excited about that. We won't go until the summer, but it'll be a blast then!

Pakdayton,

My deal is 210points, OKW uy April, with all 2004 point available. However, I think I made too good of a deal because I'm paying 72 per point and closing, but no MF's on the 2004 point. If I had to do over again I would at least split the cost with the seller.
We'll see what happens. If we get those 210 points for free we'll be partying!

Our contract went to Disney on the 16th. THis is our 2nd attempt for points at BWV. It took about 2 weeks for Disney to take our first contract, so I don't expect to hear anything for at least a few more days.

Our contract is for 210 point BWV, UY April.

I am sending pixie dust to all who are waiting!!!

WOW...how funny that three of us are April u/y. LOL!

Anyway...Pakdayton, I'm sending LOADS of pixie dust to you. I wouldn't count it out totally, even though it sounds similar to our deal. Anything is possible, even passing ROFR. Many have passed, even recently, that are just as good a deal.

Our new contract is for $72/point. There are no points available until April '05. We want to stay at Vero and OKW at the end of April so I'm REALLY anxious to get this contract and get in the system. I'm NOT a patient person LOL! Oh and we're with Jaki too!

I wish all of you the VERY BEST OF LUCK!!! I'd love to see us all pass so we can make our plans and breath a sigh of relief! ::yes::

Amybeth and Pakdayton,

Let's keep in touch. It is amazing how similar these three OKW contracts are.

Positive thoughts.......

May I join the April club, too? We go to ROFR this week on a BWV w/175 pts. April uy. no pts for 2004 but all for 2005.

Here's hoping for Pixie dust all around!

Kim

okay ... i think i'll be the first to hear (and you'll be the second)
we went to disney on 8/9 ... hopefully i'll have good news and soon ... or at least "news"

i'm not very patient either ... also we have like six or seven tentative plans depending on if we get this contract (DL/CA in jan or OKW in feb ... and a few varitions on those) i'm getting antsy to plan

we've already decided to go with SSR if this resale does NOT go through ... we've been on both sides of the location vs 10 extra years fence... mostly like the resale b/c we'd be getting pts for 2004 ... if we go with SSR we're requesting an Aug u/y so we would not get pts until 8/05 ... and i'll have to make a revised plan

btw ... we're oct u/y 224 out of 230 pts coming on 10/1/2004 on the OKW contract

amybeth is 68 for 1968? if so we're the same age :)

good luck to all of us "waiters"

We went to Disney on 8/9 and got Jason's call on 8/18 that we'd passed ROFR. Surprised that we heard something so quickly but even MORE surprised that we passed:

Dec UY
350 points available Dec 1, '04 with 26 '03 banked points
$71 per point
We paid all closing and all '04 MF's since we got all the points

The Dec UY may have had something to do with it. I don't know. Our guide did say he was very surprised that we passed.

Pakdayton....yup...68 is for 1968:teeth: .

Here's a question for all of my fellow ROFR "waiters":

If you don't pass ROFR this time around what will you do?

This is our 2nd try at OKW. If we don't pass we are thinking of two options (1) Trying for another resale contract, possibly at a different location OR...(2) Going for SSR.

Here are my thoughts on SSR. I love it, I don't mind the location, the resort looks beautiful. I just wish I knew for sure that they were going to add another theme pool (pools are a BIG deal to my kids). I'm a bit worried about the size of this place and the pools. Transportation doesn't bother me as much b/c we always have a car when we are in WDW, but the pools could be a big problem IMHO. If I had a guarantee, I'd have no problem grabbing SSR with the current incentives.

So, what are you all thinking?

Amy,

We'll most likely try another resale first. Even with the incentives, it's still going to cost, at least 2k more for SSR. We're also worried about the size, newness and only one pool.

OKW on the other hand is older, and for some, less desirable. For us that's a plus. Also the new slide promises to be real cool.

I would rather spend the extra 2k purchasing more points at a "older" DVC.

momma... you went to disney on 8/9 and heard back so quickly (congrats)

we went on the same day and havent yet heard ... i thinks thats really bad for me

i read somewhere that the RORF contracts do take longer to hear than the passed ones ... anybody know if that's true?

amybeth and carlos ... if we're a no-go on the OKW resale we're doing SSR. i'm not worried about location ...we tend to travel off season and we're flexible so we feel that at the 7month window we'd have other options... 10 extra years might help is we need to resale (when we old and tired of WDW -never!)

we liked OKW b/c it took the least amount of pts and would like that option if we need or wanted to travel at "peak" time.

but i cant take the wiating anymore ... so its SSR for sure if this is done.

Amy and Pakdayton,

I have a feeling it's going to be that all of us are in or none of us are in.

If we get it we need to meet at OKW and have a Pina Colada!

... [stuff deleted] ...
So, what are you all thinking?

I went through this thought process back in either March or April when I made my offer on a re-sale.
At one point I was actually thinking I should have gone right to Disney and bought new, just to avoid the waiting time and the stress associated with it. I wanted to have my sale closed in time to make a reservation right at the 7 month window. I had major concerns that I would not get my reservation.

At that time, I think I would have bought SSR from Disney, IF (and only IF) I would have had points to use by December 2004.
I had already decided that I would do this.
However, if I were giving myself enough time, and planning ahead as I should, I would have been more likely to try for a re-sale again.

I have tried to see the logic in ROFR, and sometimes I think I see the logic, and other times it just seems more random.

At the time I bought my re-sale, a lot of people were reporting passing ROFR with similar and even better deals then I was getting, so I was pretty confident.

I know I will really enjoy SSR this December, but I am not certain that I will like it (at least not better the OKW) after it is full.
Once they upgrade the pull-out-beds in VWL I am sure that resort will likely be my favorite. The beds, are another reason that SSR is my first choice for this December, but will not likely be my first choice in the future.
