And your oscar winners are.

So what we've gathered is that the person who wins BEST ACTOR gets less coverage than the person winning Best Animated Short for arguably allegations that are worst or equally as bad as Kobe's. I don't know what media source or news network you follow but it would appear to be pretty biased. I don't know how you can highlight one without the other.

Best Actor is a pretty big award compared to best animated short film. You've obviously been lead away from the complete truth regarding the #metoo movement and how Hollywood reacted. See, one shouldn't attack a situation without having full knowledge. Especially when you reference a cause like #metoo as your platform for the attack. Some would refer to that as ignorance. Now I'm not calling you ignorant. I don't know you. I'm just saying you spoke without having full awareness about the situation. So....
No. What we can gather is that there's a lot of sports talk at my house but not a lot of celebrity talk.

You sure love making assumptions.

Ironically, Gary Oldman once made a comedy video against NBA players going into acting, and it was on Jimmy Kimmel's show!

I don't think I should check out this report until I have the Bleacher Report and the Jimmy Kimmel show vetted as to their biases and worthiness as sources of information by those who are much better informed than I. I daren't run the risk of being led astray again.

I forgot about the whole rape thing with Kobe. I remember him for buying off his wife with a huge rock when he was caught cheating on her. I also knew nothing about Gary Oldman.

I totally forgot about the Kobe rape accusation.

The charges were dismissed in 2004. There was a civil suit that was settled out of court. I guess this becomes a question of whom you believe. Did the justice system work in this case and Kobe was innocent? Was he guilty anyway? Does the fact that he was just accused mean he's now considered to be an asssaulter in the eyes of the MeToo movement?

I also don't recall hearing about the Gary Oldman accusation either.
And it’s been the only accusation in all this time. I wasn’t sure what to believe what it first happened. But, Rapist don’t ususlly just quit.

I, for one, can say that I don't even know who Gary Oldman is!
I know, Siriusly!
It's like you have to be Commissioner Gordon from Batman to figure this stuff out.
Or maybe some type of Tinker, Tailer, Soldier, or Spy.
Dern actors are just a bunch of Draculas anyway.
What happened to real celebrities, like Sid Vicious, Beethoven, or Winston Churchill?
Now everybody is only interested in Lee Harvey Oswald!

I don't believe Kobe raped that girl. I think he cheated on his wife and the girl wanted a pay day. I had forgotten all about it until it was mentioned on this thread. And I'm not even a Kobe fan but my SO is.

I don't even know who Gary Oldman is until I looked at his picture. I recognize him but can't place him in any movies.

See I get that now because I just googled him! Can I call that a credible news source in this circumstance?

He’s a “chameleon” and tends to totally dissolve into his characters- he’s unrecognizable in some of his roles. He’s probably best known as Sirius Black in the Harry Potter films.

Awaiting the ratings...

Seriously. How bitter does someone have to be to care about the ratings an awards show gets such that they're eagerly awaiting on and wishing ill upon their ratings? 26.5 million viewers. I wasn't one of them. Why stay up that late to watch when I can find out who won what the next day anyway? Not that I boycotted them or anything or wish ill upon them.

The overnight ratings look dismal.

Let's see....we've got the Golden Globes, the Grsmmys, the NFL, the Olympics and now the Oscars....I wonder what they all have in common?

Are you going to answer your own question?
The NFL? Because smart parents aren't letting their kids play football? The concussion issue?
Olympics? Because the US did not do well? Coverage was awful? I would tune in to watch an event, see one or two competitors, than have to wait 30 minutes for them to go back to that venue. I gave up watching. Has the US become less patriotic? Is that what you are implying?

I am sure they will be a slew of fake news about how hollywood is out of touch with real America, and someone will try and point fingers - but the reality is - ratings for nearly everything on television these days are down by double digits.

Air force one. The head terrorist guy
Bat Man trilogy. Commissioner Gordon.
The fifth Element. Zorg.
JFK Lee Harvey Oswald.
Harry Potter Sirius Black.

Had to read the second post to get the meaning of the first. Apparently not only am I clueless about basketball (I actually asked someone I work with if Kobe had ever played with the Detroit Pistons), I've only seen Gary Oldman in one role and am aware he portrays Winston Churchill in his latest.

The Generation(s) raised on the electronic device called the idiot box or the boob tube are aging out. The Millenials (Gen y) and Gen Z (no nickname yet) are not watching TV nearly as much as the boomers did when they were young adults. They will as they age according to some watch it more but I personally think that is wishful thinking. And to be honest, I'm not watching as much as I used to either. I don't need to watch an hour and a half of news that I can read in 10 minutes. I don't need to stay up to the crack of dawn watching an awards show. I'll get clips of the good stuff later and it will take me 1/3 the time.

Hey i like watching the Oscars. I like seeing the dresses. I like watching people who came from nothing, who worked their butts off, win awards. I like some of the speeches. Maybe i have no taste. I just wish they were on a bit earlier. The last time i stayed up the entire show was when Halle Berry and Denzel won.
