And your oscar winners are.

Really? You never heard of the Oldman accusations? It made the headlines. Just as much as Kobe's.

But this goes back to my point. It appears you quickly went on the attack not knowing there's a bigger picture. What does that say about you? That's the rational I'm referencing. If you would have actually read into what was happening and understood the position some are taking against Hollywood, you would see that last night there were several nominees and winners that have a checkered past. But again... you decided to pick out just one and stop there. Interesting
Never heard the Oldman accusations. But I don't stay plugged into celebrity stories. Not sure why you assume everyone does. My sons are very tuned into sports so sports stories have always come up at the dinner table a lot.

So do you assume I'm OK with the other nominees and winners who apparently also have issues just because I'm not aware of their stories? I only mentioned the one because it's the one I know about. Maybe you could make me a list and I'll be happy to share my indignation at the apparently wide range of hypocrisy on display last night.

Add me to the list of having no idea about Gary Oldman's past but knowing about Kobe's. Why is that so shocking to some people? I just don't watch entertainment news, I guess that's why I don't.

I haven't really seen many of the nominated movies, however, I was so happy to see that Get Out won original screenplay.

Never heard anything about Oldman, but if folks are snubbing Seacrest on the red carpet, I wonder why Oldman's getting a pass?

Kind of disappointed that James Franco didn't get a nomination. He did a great job but right now those accusations scuttled his chances.

At least Three Billboards didn't win best picture. That's really all I wanted. Oh, and Jordan Peele winning writing? Icing on the cake.

The shape of water deserved best picture imo. The actors and actresses from Three Billboards were deserving in their categories as well. Not that others weren't. I think by and large they got this one right as far as the big 6 awards go. Oldman wasn't my pick but I can't really say his performance wasn't good.

Three billboards could have used one more edit. Or one less as the case may be. Upon edit, spoiler removed by request.

I have never understood why actors aren’t allowed to use their voices to support one thing or another.

Well, some actors are as long as they agree with a person's POV. My mom hates all celebrities that don't follow her world view and I think there are many out there like that.

Same ones that say "I hate it when so-and-so uses this platform for politics" are the ones who post memes or quotes from celebrities that agree with them. It's, somehow, appropriate then.

Has anyone seen The Florida Project?

No, but I really want to! Willem DaFoe is incredible.

Can we take out the spoiler? I haven't seen many of the movies, although I do have quite a few on my list.

Thank you!

So what we've gathered is that the person who wins BEST ACTOR gets less coverage than the person winning Best Animated Short for arguably allegations that are worst or equally as bad as Kobe's. I don't know what media source or news network you follow but it would appear to be pretty biased. I don't know how you can highlight one without the other.

Best Actor is a pretty big award compared to best animated short film. You've obviously been lead away from the complete truth regarding the #metoo movement and how Hollywood reacted. See, one shouldn't attack a situation without having full knowledge. Especially when you reference a cause like #metoo as your platform for the attack. Some would refer to that as ignorance. Now I'm not calling you ignorant. I don't know you. I'm just saying you spoke without having full awareness about the situation. So....

You seriously don't realize that Kobe Bryant is a wider known celebrity (especially when he was playing for the Lakers) than Gary Oldman? This has nothing to do with bias - and everything to do with celebrity.

How about some insight as to how I've been led by the nose by the #metoo movement and led astray by biased media sources? I'd probably benefit from some insight. I had no idea it was incumbent upon me to cull through media reports (of the appropriate sources of course) about all of the nominees before I happened to tune into the Academy Awards last night.

I was aware of allegations against Kobe I'm not sure how many years ago, had heard nothing about it in years, had no idea he was somehow part of a film up for an Oscar until it was announced at the ceremony. I know I've heard some type of reports about Kobe over the years, probably about how he scored in a game, was injured, won or lost a championship or maybe was traded to different teams. I really couldn't say because I honestly don't follow basketball. I honestly don't know that I've ever heard any reporting on Gary Oldman, or even seen him on a talk show about a movie he's been in. I simply don't think Gary Oldman has anywhere near the public profile media wise that Kobe does, for ill or for good.

As for what "your point exactly" was, I still haven't the foggiest clue.

Cabanfrau, that one shocked me actually. This is Me has been getting tons of attention, even used at the Olympics Gala.

I saw both Shape of Water and Three Billboards, liked them both, but would never have thought them to be Best Picture worthy. Slim pickings this year I guess.
