...and a happy New Year! 12/30/2010

I just wanted to say to all "Have Fun on this cruise" Disney came out with cat 12 rates for this cruise so I had to take it. It was only $1000.00 more for the 3 of us and we get 4 more nights! So I'm sad that I won't be cruising over New Years but not to sad because I get to see what is like to cruise over Christmas!

Sorry to have to remove you and your family from our list, but we do hope you enjoy yourselves on your cruise.

Ours have been out of the house for a while. Now we just have to put up with the school buses when heading to and from work. We have several friends at church having undergone or currently undergoing chemotherapy, it is difficult as friends, can not imagine what it is like with your mom. Hope everyones gets through things OK and the treatments are successful. Alex

It has been hard, but we are making it. I am her main caregiver and this is our second round of chemo. The numbers are going down, but we have been told this cancer is an aggresive recurring one, so we feel we will have another fight, but I hope we have a long remission.

Hi Marcy - Enjoy. We will miss you and would have loved to be on that cruise, but the reason for us doing this cruise is the birthday's and NYE, that we will be celebrating. You were right that it is such a great deal!

I agree with you, NYE is what we are celebrating. Right now with my Mom and my brother and all my nieces and nephews, I don't like to leave at Christmas either. I enjoy my time at WDW the first 10 days of December that my daughter and I have started doing every other year. That gives me the Christmas feeling with the trees and lights. It is fantastic.

Mine are out of school now, so I will just go to work as normal.:goodvibes
Haven't been around much since we have been dealing with my Mom's chemo problems for the last couple of weeks. We are nearing the end of the treatments, but they are affecting her worse as we get closer to the end.
The numbers show that it is working so we keep trudging on, and looking forward to the cruise. ;)
We ordered her a new dress and jacket and me a new top. I am taking DD to Dallas in a few weeks to shop for a new formal outfit as her birthday present. She is looking forward to that. We will also have lunch at the Cheesecake Factory! :woohoo:

Kathy, Sorry you and your Mom area dealing with the illness, Hopefully the cruise will be just the "pick me" up you both need.

Ugh.. you had to remind me of formal night. I still need to figure out what I want to do.... Formal or Semi formal. I have never been to a formal event before and so not really sure how to dress. I have definitely a couple of black dresses that are semi formal, but nothing really formal. DH with his recent weight loss may want to do a Tux, but he will need dress pants, shirts and Pants. Since we had to give everything else away. No way will any of it fit now.

BTW..We just got a Cheesecake factory in town. There are a couple of Cheesecake slices that are my favorite now. But have only been twice there.

Just stopping by to say hello and re-introduces ourselves. George and Connie, goin' kid-free on the NYE cruise. We are transplants from the 10 Day Magic cruise that got scuttled.

Wow, there are a lot of posts since the last time I was here. I am glad. I'll be back!! :yay:

Hi Connie, Glad to see you back!

:cool1: We contacted our Congresswomen and we are now in the possession of 3 tickets for KSC on 12/29. Tour and Imax theater. So excited.

Wondering if there is any "rules" that you all are aware of, for example, you must wear closed toed shoes or can not carry purses or bags onto the Premises?

I am still trying to get in touch with my congressman, my first attempts were unanswered. Trying one more time.

We went back in '98 and '01 which was before 9-11 and so of course things were oh so different. I found this on their website:

Security Information
Due to military action being taken abroad, Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex has increased its security.
At this time, the following items are not permitted at the Visitor Complex:

•Fire arms of any type (with or without a permit)
•Ammunition (live or spent)
•Pepper/mace sprays
•Knives of any size
•Box cutters or similar items
•Nail clippers with knife blades
•Any other sharp/pointed items, including pointed scissors or nail files
Additionally:

•All bags, purses and other items will be opened and inspected at the Visitor Complex. (These actions are part of the increase in security and not part of a specific threat to our facilities.)
•Laser pointers
•All electronic devices such as digital cameras, MP3 players, mobile/cellular phones, video recorders, voice recorders and pagers must be in working condition before entering the complex. Devices that are broken, cannot be powered on, or without properly charged batteries will not be permitted through the front gate.
If any of the above items are discovered, you will be asked to return them to your vehicle. If you choose not to return the items to your vehicle, you must surrender them to a security officer. Surrendered items will not be returned to you.

Since all guests pass through the metal detectors, please reduce the number of items you normally carry.

Visitors could face delays entering the park as a result of the searches.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and your patriotic support of Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.

Thanks for posting that. I know there are some areas that do not allow camera's or even purses. It is good to know I can at least carry a bag in there and my camera. Just no nailclippers :confused3

DH sent a email to our representative's office and one of her assistants emailed back that he would be sending the request in. It took about a month or so before we heard back that he has secured the tickets. DH is reminding me that our state representative to congress, has a husband that is an Astronaut. But I don't think that matters. But what I have seen from these boards is that it doesn't seem to work when contact a Senator, most of those requests go unanswered.

Good Luck.

Just e-mailed my congressman, we'll see if I get a reply! I am having surgery on my hand tomorrow so wish me luck! I'm kinda paranoid because I thought it was supposed to be a local and right there in the doctors office then the pre-surgery nurse called and told me it was under general anistesia. :scared1: I freaked out and told her if I couldn't breathe on my own I wasn't having the surgery, so she said I could have a different kind of anestisia where I wouldn't have to have the breathing tube. Thank goodness! Then she tells me that it will be a quicker recovery if I don't have the breathing tube! Well W. T. H. why wouldn't they just automaticly do the different anistesia with the quicker recovery?????? Anyway, I won't be on here for a little bit since typing will be a little hard but I will check in on ya'll. :)

Prayers and pixie dust headed your way. Get better soon.

Terri - Hope all is well with your hand and you will be typing soon. Now is when you need to the voice activated DIS.

Kathy - Is the list on post 2 still current? I am check on the FE list and making sure I am planning.

We are paying off this cruise this month and preparing to start booking. Really haven't done much planning for Palo's or anything else. I would love to know what night the shows will be on,since the wonder has not done 7 nights often and how they will plan what they will do. I was hoping the BlackStreet Boyz would be on our cruise. I keep on watching for them. I am assuming they will do Disney Dreams, Toy Story, Golden Mickeys, but what else might they have?

Yes, the list is current. We are counting the days til we get the cruise paid off and everything decided for booking. We are planning on a Palo brunch. . . I hope.

Hi all, I'm back. Typing left handed, but doing well. My stitches come out tomorrow yay! :thumbsup2 I'm booking Palo for brunch as soon as I can then I'll see if I can get dinner on the ship. I've never eaten at Palo so I'm super excited to go there. Our trip is slowly creapin up on us, it'll be here before we know it. I'm surprising the kids with this cruise and it's going to be their major Christmas present. I ordered a DCL puzzle off ebay and I'm going to have the kids do a scavenger hunt to find all the pieces so if any of you have any good scavenger hunt ideas for places to put them or cute ways of saying the clues let me know. I can use the help, I've got to come up with 12 of them. All I can think of is the one my SIL did for my nephews on Easter, it was this is where you rack your balls. It was the pool table. :lmao:

Thanks Kathy! I told my TA to make my payment on my CC on the 21st. If I don't hear back from her on the 22nd. I will have to remind her.

Glad to hear you are doing good. Hopefully no pain! You can book brunch, Dinner and the Tea before, but can only do one of each. DH and I were talking yesterday, since this cruise is really for DD, not sure what night we would do dinner, so we might wait until our April cruise to get a dinner. Last time we did it on formal night because we didn't want to get into formal wear, but since formal night will be on NYE. We want to spend it together as a family.

Hmm.. Scavenger hunt ideas...
Write a clue location with dashes in the place of every vowel. For a child that might be D _ S H W _ S H _ R for dishwasher. For a teen or adult the whole clue could be written with no vowels. For example, Y_ _R N_XT CL_ _ _S H_DD_N _N _ SM_LL BL_ _ B_ _K _N TH_ L_BR_RY would be "Your next clue is hidden in a small blue book in the library.

Maybe use something from the poem of Twas the night before Christmas.

Good luck.. It sounds like fun!

Great idea! I wouldn't have thought of that. Thanks!

Reading some posts on the main Disney board and when we return to port we might get to see the Dream at PC going through some inspections.

On our last cruise we were on the Magic and the Wonder was coming out of Dry Dock so it was at PC the day we left.

When we had the 10 night Magic booked (Cancelled cruise), the speculation was that all 3 ships would be photographed at Sea together around Jan 7th.

Just might be pretty cool to see the Dream in Port when we come home.

Hi Everyone...It's been awhile for me on here, been a bit busy...But I'm happy to report we have a new addition to our family...Gabriella Morgan made her grand entrance 7.6.10, and she's already had her first visit to see Mickey. She a great baby, so quiet that sometimes I ahve to check on her to make sure she is ok. She has been sleeping through the night since she was 5 days old. We have been incredibly blessed and are so thankful for her.

We are still booked on this cruise, and will still be participating in the FE... Hope that I will get a little more time in to post on here!! I went back to work 2 weeks ago and things have been a bit busy since. I think I have the hang of work, a new baby, and the other kids now. My girls are older and I never worked til they were older, so its been an adjustment. Thankfully shes such a good baby.
