...and a happy New Year! 12/30/2010

Ok.. Terri - Do share what your formal wear looks like!
Laura

Here's a picture of it, the little line in the chest area is a row of rinestones. The dress looks better on than it does in the picture. I just hope I still fit in it come December! It's a little tight and when I tried it on I couldn't figure out why it was so small, then I found out that it was a juniors prom dress.

I know it is still 5 months away but, do we know how many are participating in the FE and are we having bands made for our group and is there any DIS meet arranged yet?? Thanks so much

Christine

As for a DIS Meet...

If anyone is going to be at the Country Inn and Suites the night before, a couple of us will be will be there and we can have a mini meet.

How about 3pm on Embarcment day (Dec 30th) in the promenade lounge on Deck 3? That seems to be a good open area and gives enough time to chat before having to head to the muster drill?

Riight now we have 5 families that have confirmed they want to join the FE. Several have not given me a decision.

We are going to be at the LaQuinta, but we will have a car and could meet if there is going to be a mini meet.

The time on Dec 30th would probably work also, on our May 09 cruise, they did a meet during the sail away party (which we did not make it to the first and only met a couple of people) plus some met late at one of the clubs (also was too tired to make any of those). It is nice to meet at least once so that if you pass each other later a greeting can be exchanged.

I agree... On our last cruise, we shared pictures on Facebook (FB) and Yahoogroups and so I recognized a few faces at the port and then got to met a few more at the DIS meet. It was nice to pass people you knew in the hallway and exchange greetings and later in the cruise comparing notes. Even ran into a few families at the shows, bingo & Palos. Some of us have stayed in touch via FB.

For our MR cruise next year, the group has started a webpage to keep pictures. I have to admit I am getting my 2 cruises mixed up.

We just booked this cruise. While we have been on many DCL cruises, we have never done a NYE cruise. This will also be the last cruise in the carribean for the Wonder before the ship heads to the west coast. It helped that Don Ducky Williams will be onboard.
We are Carolyn and Alex. We live in Lake Mary just north of Orlando. I think we are in cabin 5522 and we have first seating for dinner. We have children and grandchildren, but we are spending thier inhertitance on us. We would like to participate with the FE. Alex

Welcome, welcome!!
So glad you could join us.
I will add you to the list on the first page ASAP.
I think our get to know you post is on page 4, so if you would like to do that please do, otherwise just tell us anything about ya'll that you want us to know!!!

Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

I'd be interested in a meet at CIS the night before if we don't go to HS for the Osborne Lights. I'm thinking about going there since it won't be there when we get back. I also just realized that when we get back is the weekend for the 5K so I'm thinking about doing that too. The meet on the ship is the same time/place we did our last meet and it worked out perfectly, so I'm in for that too.

:welcome: Carolyn and Alex! Glad you can join us and what a wonderful way to spend the inheritance :rotfl:

We are Carolyn and Alex
We live in Lake Mary, FL (just north of Orlando)
We are staying at Cypress Point Grand Villas (about half a mile from Downtown Disney) Sunday - Thurs. before the cruise.
We are "first timers" because we have been on all the inaugural cruises and new itinerary cruises. We most recently sailed on the Barcelona to Dover repo cruise and the inaugural Baltic cruise.
We will be dressing up for Pirate Night, semi-formal night, and formal night. I wear scrubs at work all day so I enjoy the opportunity to dress up.
We have main dining seating.
We enjoy wine, so we will be bringing wine onboard with us. When we sailed through the Panama Canal and stayed on for the first Mexican Riviera cruise (21 days), we brought wine onboard for our friends from California and ourselves.... 44 bottles of wine!!!!!!!
Carolyn reads 2-3 books per week and will bring at least two books on the cruise. I read Clive Cussler, about two books per year.
Three must do's for the cruise:
1. Use the stairs except we Carolyn is in high heels.
2. Walk on deck 4 at least twice and at least 4 miles.
3. On Castaway Cay be one of the first off the ship and walk 10-12 miles, then lunch at Cookies BBQ.
Something unusual about us: In 2009 we walked eight half marathons and three full marathons, then in Jan 2010 did the Goofy race and a half challenge at WDW (a half marathon on Sat. and a full marathon on Sun.). Our walking race pace was 13:30 minutes per mile. What is more unusual is that we did not start all the walking until 2006 and in our 50's.

And by the way, we love Disney and Disney Cruise Lines!:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:

Ok.. We enjoy wine too. May have to come find you. :rotfl: I do prefer Red.

Congratulations on your walking. I try to do as much as possible, but not at the level of marathons like you and Carolyn.

Welcome to all the new cruisers!!! And to Carolyn and Alex, all I can say is wow :scared1: I don't know how you can keep a 13:30 pace for the whole or half marathon! Good for you, any time I try walking at even 15:00 pace I start tripping. I've been trying to work up to the princess half next Feb. so I've been running/walking longer distances and let me tell y'all it aint easy.

When we started all this walking a few years back, we did the happy dance the first time we did a mile in 15 minutes. After that we slowly increased our distance then worked on speed. The important thing is to start and finish, regardless of the time it takes. Unless you are an elite runner, you won't "win" the race, but starting and finishing is winning because you are healthier for doing the race and all the training. Just stay focused on the goal and keep on going.
:banana::banana::banana: Alex

Looking forward to walking with anyone, not sure I can keep up the pace with Alex and Carolyn. I love to walk deck 4 and trying to decided if I want to walk the 5K at CC.

Hi,

This is my 8th Disney Cruise

Laura, I am planning on doing the 5K on CC if you want to do it with me. Although I must warn you that I run very slow, slower than Alex and Carolyn walk! Seriously, it takes me about 40 min. to do a 5K.
