It was a fun mail day today -- I received several goodies that I ordered for the VR!
First of all, we had the logo Dolly made for us embossed on napkins:
They turned out better than I even hoped -- I just love them!
Then, after seeing this photo of a banner covering the WP altar:
I decided I wanted something similar, to cover up the rings on the front (the whole "ring motif" they have going on in the WP just isn't my cup of tea -- I have no idea why, it just isn't) so I found an Etsy seller who makes beautiful ribbon rose runners and had one custom made in 3'x6':
For something fun at the reception, I had this sign made by another Etsy seller to hang over our favor table (which was going to be a full-on candy buffet 'til I realized that most of our guests are older and don't indulge -- I'm just going to make up favor bags for the kids and do Hershey bars with our logo for the adults):

I'm really happy with the way everything turned out!

I have to say the runner is absolutely going to be one of my favorite things about the decor, for sure!

We're having a VR also this year (30 years) at SBP on 8/1/2011....and you are so far ahead of me in the planning stage - I'm feeling WAAAAY behind

And congratulations on 30 years! That's so wonderful. 
Our planner (who was lovely but obviously overstretched in terms of couples she must be assigned to) instructed us to email the DFTW director to express our concerns, and we never even got the courtesy of a return call or email.
, but on a brighter note it sounds like your going to get everything you've dreamed of and more with the Swan VR. I think you will be very happy in the end considering all the good reviews so far on the Swan planning and such.

I am positive it's going to be wonderful!After weeks of discussion, debate, frustration and tears, we are cancelling our DFTW .... and moving it to the Swan.
We became so frustrated with the difficulties of getting in touch with our planner, of Disney's rules and restrictions (especially the ones that are only arbitrarily enforced), and a million other little things, that we just gave up. The straw that broke the camel's back was Disney's insistence that we couldn't have our MK session on a Thursday due to EMH (never mind the fact that other girls here on the DIS DO get them on Thursdays even with EMH) and that because of that, our MK session wouldn't count towards our Wishes minimum. They made it impossible for us to do it on the day, and then said it wouldn't count because it wasn't on the day.
So, DFTW beat the magic right out of us, and we were going to call everything off. Then the lovely Joanne got me thinking about the possibility of having our VR at the Swan, and as I got in touch with Just Marry, various managers at the Swan, and the manager of the Wave (where we are now having our luncheon after the VR), I received prompt replies, helpful information and generally the kind of stellar service we'd expected but never received from DFTW.
We are now scheduled for 10/27 on Crescent Terrace at the Swan. Hopefully it won't rain, but I'm okay with their Atrium which is the back-up location. We are saving a TON of money, and I'm getting every single little thing my heart desires that we couldn't get and/or afford with DFTW. The only thing we are losing is the MK session, and we're going to do a bridal session at the Studios instead (TOT is my favorite ride and I've seen incredible photos from there lately!). And frankly, DFAP (namely Dara) has been wonderful to work with -- the one shining star of the whole process, so we're happy to still be working with them for the shoot.
So there we are! We still haven't officially cancelled with DFTW because, surprise, surprise, we can't get anyone to call us back!It will get done this week, though, and even though we're losing our deposit, it makes me feel better to know that they're not getting any more of our money and we're giving it to vendors who actually act like they want and value our business.

I couldn't be happier with the Swan. With saving all the money and how quick and wonderful Just Marry is, I don't regret it one bit! I'm sure you won't either!!!

Amy, I'm so sorry to hear about what's happened but glad you're getting everything you dreamed of at the Swan.
So sorry about all your frustrations with DFTW!! I am glad you are getting the treatment you deserve at the Swan!! I am sure your ceremony will be lovely, and you will be able to get everything you want!!
