Not ROFR thread - general discussion

Chef Mickey's is a quantity over quality type of buffet food environment. Quite loud but you do get to see several characters. For character interaction, I'd much rather see them in a meet and greet in the parks. The photos are much better when they are in their cute environment rather than with your half eaten meal.

I'm coming up on my June visit, staying at Polynesian for the first time ever, and feeling sad not to be staying at my home resort! LOL. Does this happen to other people? I swear, I'm sure Polynesian will be great, but it isn't on Crescent Lake.

Also, is there anything we really can't miss? We've booked the two reportedly worst character breakfasts (Chef Mickey's and 'Ohana) because my 7 year old really wants to meet Mickey at least once this trip. And we have a Lightning Lane for Tiana's and Tron, since we still haven't done them yet.

What Polynesian or MK-centric thing is a definite "do not miss" for you?
Would you believe me if I told you “go to Trader Sam’s and get the limited edition jungle cruise tiki mugs so you can send one to your friend HyperspaceMtnPilot?”

When we’ve stayed there the highlights are DoleWhip at Pineapple Lanai, the Polynesian breakfast food already mentioned, the kids love the Lava Pool slide (be prepared to hunt for a chair!), and we do think Trader Sam’s is a lot of fun for tiki vibes.

I think you will love Poly. We love nights at the pool, staying out last enough to enjoy the fireworks and Electric Water Pageant from the beach area. Pineapple Lanai is another one of our go-tos. Having Dole Whip in such close proximity is amazing! Are you staying in the original studios or the Tower? We really enjoyed the studios ...they feel big and the extra bathroom is a nice plus. It's a pretty close walk to the TTC, which is nice for getting to Epcot! We also found the CMs to be really lovely too at Poly.

I know what you mean though about feeling sad not to be staying at other resort favorites. Our favorites to stay at are BWV, BRV, and now VGF and get little pangs of homesickness for the resorts we aren't staying at on that trip.

I would definitely try to spend some time on Seven Seas Lagoon/Bay Lake. Take ample advantage of the boat transportation around them if you don't rent something to drive yourself. If you can swing it, give yourself an excuse to take the boat over to Wilderness Lodge.

Oooooh! Can I get in on that?

The sending yes, the receiving, well that’s up to @atthebeachclub — seriously though, if anybody is going to be at Trader Sam’s anyway and wants a free drink in exchange for sending me the collectible, I’m happy to cover drink cost and shipping fees (I believe the Poly front desk would handle shipping logistics?).

I’ve honestly never heard of these! They must be a big deal though. How often do they get released? Is there only one right now?

I’m not against the idea, if I can figure out how to get this to you without it breaking, and can find a time to get to Trader Sam’s.

I would've totally done this for you, especially since it was a leisure trip and didnt have commitments to anyone other than than myself.

Yes. But with our diet we get the same food basically everywhere. We liked the character interaction and view. I can say if I had a choice we prefer Topolinos but Chef Mickeys is easier to get into.

I've never done any character dining. Not sure if it's worth the price when my kid doesn't care about characters at all. I was eyeballing the new one at Storytellers though....

It turns out my kids LOVE characters, which I didn't anticipate. I got them an autograph book on our first visit, thinking it could be fun, and collecting character autographs has been so much fun for them!

That's awesome. My son seemed to like them when he was little. But somewhere along the way, he just seemed more disturbed by them then anything. 😁

I cannot wait to go to the new storytellers one. But we all love character interaction. Pluto sat with on the floor and played with my son for a good 20 minutes once at storytellers. ❤️

Did you see the costumes for the Donald one? I am obsessed!
Food looks pretty decent took with lots of options. Just not sure I can convince my husband the $200+ price tag is worth it.....
(Also, not even sure if this will still be around in December. I have no idea how often they switch these things around.)

It’s the pictures. The pictures with characters are often the most “frame” /
family Christmas card worthy.

I know. We have such cute ones from when he was little. It made me so sad when he stopped being willing to see characters. We did get one with Captain America last trip but I prefer the non-face characters better.
