Whats Your Claim to Fame Contract?

When nearly every resort was in active ROFR peril it was more of a game to sail as close to the wind as possible, less great deals as more people offering around current ROFR levels
Only 55% of OKW contracts passed in 2019, most other resorts had about 60-75% chance of passing
Exceptions were AUL/VB/PVB/BRV which nearly always passed

That is why when Covid hit and ROFR stopped it was a buyers frenzy with crazy deals. BLT $100, BWV $90 etc

Now there is very limited ROFR you just need to find a buyer willing to take a lowball offer, not nearly as much strategy involved and record deals more and more likely.

Wow, these are some amazing deals on this thread!

It's a shame that my claim to fame is lame. :)

The best I can do is 150 VGF contract for 160 something per point.

The flip side of this thread is what contract would be your first to sell if you had to, and for me it would be this same contract.

Paid $95 a point for direct during the OKW promo last year. Was ready to fish for good resale deals (never would have got the kind of resale deals posted in this thread, but a boy can dream), but the dark side power of future proofing stays at new DVC resorts was too strong.

Your claim to fame, my friend, has little to do with price per point :)

As much as it pains me to write it about it, here it goes. Did an add-on to our membership. Purchased 200 pts in (4) 50 point contracts at the opening sale of VGC in April, 2009. Paid $105 pp after developer credit…and received the following;

1) 3 night stay at the Grand Californian Hotel in any view category including 3 use when and where you want to fast passes per person on the reservation

2) 2 night stay at the Fairmont in SFO in any view category (Hotel Del Coronado was the other option)

3) 2 WDW AP’s (DL AP’s were the other option)

4) Voucher good for a year for a week stay through available properties through RCI (no recollection if we used that or gave it away)

Life happened…kid’s colleges and weddings…we sold all of them in 2016-2017. The only good news is we sold for around $130pp…but we all know what that amount would likely be today. If I had a dollar for every time I wished I still had those contracts, I’d be a millionaire. But hindsight is 20/20. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Maybe I should’ve started my own thread about DVC regrets! 😂

Edit: Fixed a typo…I originally wrote VGF….it was VGC!! 🤪

Bittersweet but you had an amazing seven years!

You’re welcome. Ask for a luau view. We loved it. We will be there in August but this time in the grand villa 😍
Will it be your first time in a gv there, how exciting! Yes I've heard people saying to go for the luau view, but also heard 16th floor ewa tower was mentioned for partial ocean views . I guess i can request both!

Any reason why 2019 was so popular?

The fact that you got all those extras is more than a lot of us received, i would be really happy i got to experience all that!

Nowadays you get a stay booked with your own points if its available and the ability to purchase their pass 🤣🤣 Party's over!

But yours were direct points which makes that much more sweet.

You still sold at a profit which is amazing. If I had held on to my first home it would be worth much more today.

First time staying in the GV. We toured it last time and made jokes about how nice it was and how we would never ever be able to stay there. Well here we are.

We just became members in Jan 2024 so I can't compete with these deals lol. However, I am pretty happy with the latest resale contract we bough in Nov 2024:

VGF - 65 pts - full 24/25/26 points for $163/point. Seller paid 24 MF. It's a December UY so our 2024 year had just started by the time points were loaded. We used the points to book a 1 bedroom at VGF to celebrate our son's 1st birthday coming up later this year!
