Amazing Race 11 - All Stars (begins 2/18/07)

I think it's funny that some people have lucked into finding things ahead of the perscribed order. Didn't somebody actually find the pitstop on another season?
I remember at least once when this happened. I think it was Derek and Drew, the twins. The missed the clue box but happened to find arrows or something and followed them to the pit stop. They had to go back to the clue box and do the task.
Really? I thought they were suggesting something else when they said something like "surprising alliance to yield another team" (I deleted the episode already). It's no surprise at all that the other teams would want to yield the BQs. It would be surprising if C&M or E&D worked with the BQ's. Of course, it's just a teaser and the alliance may not really be a surprise at all.
Phil says "surprising deal". So that could mean anything. I'm thinking that BQs will not get yeilded because we're all expecting it now.
I'm glad they stopped doing that. IMO it was very disturbing to watch these otherwise well to do Americans begging for money in foreign countries just because they were on a game show. In some cases they were in some pretty poor areas and begging the locals for money.
Oh I hated that too. One older team had this happen in the middle of an African village. They ended up begging the other teams because they refused to ask the villagers.

i know Mirna is a "brat" but i am entertained by her behavior
Yeah, me too. A very smart "brat" at that! Her interpersonal skills with ticketing agents is fabulous (along with Charla, of course) and they always seem to find a friendly person who is happy to help them out. She's a very good schmoozer. I don't see a single thing they did wrong in yesterday's episode. Even the use of the standby code which was freely given my the Cha-chas. They would have been stupid to turn it down and Erik was stupid not to raise a bigger stink about it as it wasn't 100% fair. His loss. :confused3

Thanks! I ought to know by now that I need to keep the episode around until at least Tuesday.

Has anyone mentioned Eric's behaviour to Danielle last night? He was SO stubborn about not following a taxi to the rest stop! She was getting so frustruated, and so was I just watching them.

Also his comments about not "blaming" Danielle for their finish last night, what was that about? Maybe if he had listened to her about following the taxi they wouldn't have been so far behind? And then in the wrap up interview, when he said his focus for the rest of the race is to support her or keep her spirits up or whatever, and I think he is the one that needs support for his spirits...

I am glad you mentioned that. I detest Eric and can't believe the way he treats Danielle. But, why does she take that crap from him. I can't imagine any woman that would want to be with that loser. I find it hard to believe he is 28 by the way he acts. I have seen 14 year olds act better than he does.

And his comments at the end were classic. It is really clear to me that he thinks that he could run this race without Danielle. The only reason she is there is for him to put the blame on if he makes a mistake.

yeah,Mirna has been lucky in finding people to help except in a country they were in recently and I can't remember if it was Poland, but no one would help them.

I know in Africa in Season 7 Meredith and Gretchen had finished a task and made it to the pit stop by following the marked path without the final clue and Phil made them drive back out into the bush to get the clue.

It was Poland! and she whined the whole time about wanting to leave and they wouldnt help them any.

I'd like to see them outlaw the paying taxi drivers to take them places and dragging foreigners in your car to help you. I'm really disappointed that they didn't kick the game up a notch for All-stars and mix up the rules and make it harder for the teams by adding rules like the ones I suggested.

Yep. I usually keep it the whole week. The first few episodes of 24 this season DH deleted them as soon as it was over. I yelled at him not to do that because I would discuss it here and need to go back to rewatch things. :rotfl:

As far as Charla doing annoying, in appropriate things, she's had her share. I can't count how many times she's stepped under railings and behind desks which she has no business being behind. Just because she can fit under something doesn't make it an available passage. I wouldn't let my 2yo walk under a railing.

We totally agree there. If anything every challenge seems easier than anything they had done before.

The only one that seemed on par with other seasons was the cookie challenge just because it's complete luck and can take a very long time. But in other seasons, that kind of thing was the Road Block that everybody had to do rather than a choice that a team can choose not to do.

The road blocks have been much easier IMO than some of the ones in past years. Sometimes the road blocks have held people up for hours, which didn't seem to be the case this season.

Still, it's a great show, and a never miss one for me.

And they seem to be spending more time in airports this season. Almost half of last nights show was spent on the airport dramas. I kept wondering when they would get to the race. I found it interesting that D/O and C/M were able to circumvent the airline counters by finding the back offices. But, after that, it was pretty much the same old thing. They are all standing there arguing across an airline counter. Seriously, how many more times do we need to see that?

I obviously have no way to know for sure, but IMO it seems like in the past the producers secured space on the airlines for the racers and camera crew way ahead of the actual race so this kind of thing would not happen.

My guess is that as part of a way to switch things up, they basically just let things happen as far as flights go. In a couple places it took all the drama out of who was coming in last, but at least it wasn't the same old boring two flight option they have set up on other seasons.

My intention in this post is in no way a validation of Eric's comments but I do agree with him in a way. I do believe that she does hold him back and she hasn't added much to their race. She doesn't come acrossed as the brightest bulb in the pack. As for Eric, I think he is an idiot.

As I spent all last night sitting an airport waiting on a late international flight I find it more than slightly ironic.

I saw 2 different late commers beginning to get on the aircraft that was sitting at the gate with the door close. And both of them were refused (2 different airlines). Just makes the AR stuff that much more funny as it's just really a race - a game not trying to get somewhere for a make or break meeting or home to see your family.

Only reason I was glad it was a non-elimination leg was that I'd prefer S&M go home home first!!!! Actually about a half dozen or so shows ago but whose counting :rolleyes1 ;)

TOTALLY AGREE!

How did you feel when Mirna was ripping her a new one in their SUV a couple week back because Charla wasn't doing anything?

I actually like Charla & Mirna. I'd rather see Danny & Oswald win, but C & M come in second compared to the teams that are left. As to how Mirna treats Charla, I think that incident wasn't very nice, but most of the other teams have also had meltdowns and were pretty nasty to each other. I'm impressed with Charla's will and determination, Mirna I find quite funny at times.

I am still cheering for the BQ's!! C/M are less annoying to me than they were at the beginning.

I love the beauty queens i really hope they win
I hate charla and myrna but i do give charla props she is letting her disability get the better of her

I think it's because we're seeing much more airport drama, and more problems with delayed and missed flights than in previous seasons.
