I think the BQs are in on the surprising yield. Everyone expects them to be yielded so why would that be a surprise. I love them and want them to win. I think in hindsight, them using the yield last time was a mistake, but given the information they had at the time, they made a wise decision. For all that they knew, they along with DO and ED were tied for last. They said that they would hate to get eliminated from the race knowing that they could have used a yield and didn't. They thought they were fighting to keep from being eliminated. If the teams are smart, they would all get together and yield ED again. They already have a 30 minute penalty. This would give them an hour penalty and the other teams some more breathing room. Another interesting senario would be if the BQs gave DO some money in exchange for yielding ED.
As much as I don't like Eric, I can see his position on not hiring the cab to the pit stop. I have heard that sometimes they don't give you a lot of money on the race and you have to stretch it out. He said that they only had $20 and a cab in Hong Kong is at a minimum, $15. To his knowledge, they were 3 hours behind on a flight and the challenges didn't seem so overwhelming. Who knows how close CM actually were. If they had been on the same flight, I think he would have been more willing to pay for the cab to stay in the race but I think he knew they were way behind.
I wonder what Mirna would have said if she had been first on the wait list and the BQs came up with someone else's code. Would that be "playing the game clean, my friend?"
