Amazing Race 11 - All Stars (begins 2/18/07)

Last night in the airport when Charla used the wheels on her shoes, was very funny ---------------

I don't think C/M are doing anything that the others are not doing.

I don't see too much skill being used on the challenges this time - sort of sad for such a great show

I am glad you mentioned that. I detest Eric and can't believe the way he treats Danielle. But, why does she take that crap from him. I can't imagine any woman that would want to be with that loser. I find it hard to believe he is 28 by the way he acts. I have seen 14 year olds act better than he does.

And his comments at the end were classic. It is really clear to me that he thinks that he could run this race without Danielle. The only reason she is there is for him to put the blame on if he makes a mistake.

Be careful saying you "detest" him. You'll get the crowd in a frenzy of hand-wringing  :lmao:

I agree about Eric, btw. I wouldn't put up with that fecal matter for 5 minutes. I think the only reason she is there is for him to oogle. He has made several comments about her breasts and often has his arm around her shoulder with hand dangling in the vicinity. He needed only to watch the DVD's from that season to see what a non-performer she is. Shouldn't be a surprise to him at all, but regardless of that, she doesn't deserve to be treated that way. Neither of them have any travel or critical thinking skills. They've just been lucky and able to get through physical challenges quickly.

The FF kept me up last night. I kept reliving the accident I was in last August when my van was flipped over. I'm usually not affected by these scenes, but last night was different. Perhaps the pain of recovering from surgery 2 months ago is still too fresh.

I like everyone left but E & D. Schmirna didn't annoy me as much last night although I still don't like her. I wouldn't mind seeing BQ or Cha Cha win.

I think the BQs are in on the surprising yield. Everyone expects them to be yielded so why would that be a surprise. I love them and want them to win. I think in hindsight, them using the yield last time was a mistake, but given the information they had at the time, they made a wise decision. For all that they knew, they along with DO and ED were tied for last. They said that they would hate to get eliminated from the race knowing that they could have used a yield and didn't. They thought they were fighting to keep from being eliminated. If the teams are smart, they would all get together and yield ED again. They already have a 30 minute penalty. This would give them an hour penalty and the other teams some more breathing room. Another interesting senario would be if the BQs gave DO some money in exchange for yielding ED.
As much as I don't like Eric, I can see his position on not hiring the cab to the pit stop. I have heard that sometimes they don't give you a lot of money on the race and you have to stretch it out. He said that they only had $20 and a cab in Hong Kong is at a minimum, $15. To his knowledge, they were 3 hours behind on a flight and the challenges didn't seem so overwhelming. Who knows how close CM actually were. If they had been on the same flight, I think he would have been more willing to pay for the cab to stay in the race but I think he knew they were way behind.
I wonder what Mirna would have said if she had been first on the wait list and the BQs came up with someone else's code. Would that be "playing the game clean, my friend?"

And I also didn't like using the FF twice. That makes there no strategy as to when it is advantagous to use it. We get here first so go for it. Why would you not go for it?

I'm glad they stopped doing that. IMO it was very disturbing to watch these otherwise well to do Americans begging for money in foreign countries just because they were on a game show. In some cases they were in some pretty poor areas and begging the locals for money.

I hated seeing this as well. Especially when you think about that not only are the begging for $, but they are begging for $ while a camera crew is following them around. I think I'd be saying something along the lines of "aren't you getting paid for this show you are obviously filming?" ;) I did wonder if maybe they are not doing it this time because some of these people are recognizable now so it's not just random people begging from strangers but a chance that the strangers will recognize it's a team from AR? Does that make sense? Like how they showed a crowd watching Charla and Mirna at the cookie challenge and cheering them on. Someone was yelling "GO CHARLA!" so they obviously recognized them from the show.

I detest Eric and can't believe the way he treats Danielle.

I can't stand either one of them! She seems hopelessly dippy and he is just an a$$. His "colege" shirt annoys me so much.

The person yelling "Go Charla" is actually a poster on another message board who lives in Malaysia. He and his friends had spotted C/M when they were at the Batu caves and followed them all day. He even posted spoiler pics before the race started to prove it. He and his friends were the ones helping Mirna push the bike during the newspaper roadblock. He mentioned that "Mirna really was that crazy in person. But she WAS nice." (his quote from the other board).

Charla and her wheelies thru the airport was wicked funny!!!!!

Anyone else think that the BQ's may be yielded next week but they will actually be the first ones to arrive at the yield box and no one knows they are ahead of the pack?

Hmm, this is certainly a good twist! Could be...

I don't think that will happen. IIRC, when a team chooses not to yield anyone, they must remove their picture from the yield sign post when they turn from the camera and say "We choose not to yield." That being the case, other teams would know that they had all ready been there because their picture would be missing.

Darn - I thought I had it figured out - lol

OT - Was is IIRC? TIA

Of course that it is the way it woprks. What would be the point of allowing somebody to think they could yield a team that already had passed that point in the leg?

I didn't get that the first time, either, but when I read your post, with the IIRC quoted, I read it as If I Recall Correctly. Don't know if I'm right, but it makes sense! (and I always tell my kids, if you don't know, make it up and sound convincing! Someone will believe you! :rotfl:

You are correct with the definition of IIRC.

I am so tired of Charle and Myrna and Oswald and Danny....I would be happy with the other 2 winning....
