ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

My must do is eating Tonga toast at Capt. Cook's. I actually think it's a fun place to eat. I enjoy a quick visit with the folks at the next table, greeting the CM's who work there, and looking out the window at the pool area.

Tokelay is a great building. You won't be sorry!

Nice to see you Andre! I like your POR exilies! I am glad they are excited about staying at a new place! It's been fun helping them plan. If I can't plan my own, I want to help others with theirs!

Yeah nice to see you too Andre also you too Carrie!

I had to do a double take when I saw your user name. I have 3 boys and a girl myself and have that same user name on another site (not Disney related) that I belong to. :rotfl:

If nobody else is there now to ask, I'll try to report in when I'm there :goodvibes

Thanks, The other board isn't GF is it??

High pressure, low water flush. It seems like you could flush a bowling ball with this system using very little water....watch the video clip. Popular on ships and planes, but now at many toilets near you....

Mike

and be forewarned, if you have young children it will probably scare the crap out of them! (no pun intended :lmao:)

Ok - I have to know - is the Tonga Toast really all that people are saying it is and about the Kona coffee - is it a blend or is it straight Kona??

As I have said, we will be first timers at the Poly Jan 27 to Feb 1. I will have an ECV due to chronic knee issues. Any recommendations on that? Also, my DS14 will be with me and we are already going to The Spirit luau and have a ressie for Kona Cafe breakfast. Any other "musts" at The Poly?
My son is a teenage boy all the way but he is a Disney fanatic like myself so he would be the type that would be open to about anything there. :thumbsup2

By the way we have GV and I already requested Tokelau (sp?) and 3rd floor.

Did I say I am really excited????

We had Tokelau 3rd floor beach end of building. and loved it. We faced Hawaii, and if we looked out over balcony rail to the right, we could see the Castle, and Wishes. But of course watching Wishes on the beach is the best. they pipe in the music too.

Kona Cafe is a fav. Love the Tonga Toast & my daughter loves the Pineapple/Mac nut pancakes. I also love the Kona coffee.

You can also get the Tonga Toast at Capt. Cooks. And Dole Whips :goodvibes

'Ohana is another fav.

We are staying at WL in just a few more days, but have 2 ADRs for Kona, dinner & a breakfast!

We liked taking monorail to MK, and boat back. To get to Epcot take the path to the TTC (runs along Tahiti path) to catch Epcot Monorail.

Shortcut to Tokelau from GCH- is cut thru Ratatonga!

When we had dinner at GF, we enjoyed taking the lake path back to Poly, it's a beautiful, peaceful walk.

I don't think you'll have any problems storing ECV, the rooms are quite large.

Enjoy your stay :thumbsup2

Hi Poly folks - haven't stopped by lately!

Did anyone see/post the info Tikiman has on his update about new TV stations being added at the Poly (I'm guessing other deluxes will get some changes too). Now I don't go to Disney to watch TV, but this still makes me very happy. We usually go back to the room early-ish and I have always hated the TV choices.

He says these are being added, starting tomorrow, 1/13:
Fox News

· Bravo

· AMC

· National Geographic

· TBS &TNT

· Travel Channel

· WE tv

· Syfy

· Discovery

· Bio

· HGTV

· TLC

· History

· Food Network

· TV Land

And if someone already posted this, I apologize, but I didn't have time to read through the thread!

Speaking of TV, does anyone that has been there very recently know if they are still showing the old cartoon loop on channel 96?

Awesome list! We are looking forward to many of the same!

Is anyone there now who can ask the CMs about when the pool/slide is closing? I am soooo stressed about this. I've called so many times and they keep telling me no, it's not happening but some of the sites say otherwise. Wondering if anyone can ask for me there at the hotel. I'd soo appreciate it! We have 10 days until we are there! Woo Hoo!!

I'm worried about the slide as well. Just read from Tikiman that it's been pushed back a bit and no end date given. The slide is my kids most favorite thing at the Poly. I'm honestly not sure we wouldve booked it if we knew the slide would he closed.

My son went down the slide 93 times in one day! :rotfl: It's a highlight for him.

Ok, I'll ask.... what the heck is a "torpedo toliet flush"?! :scared1:
Another poster answered it wonderfully! I have a quick video of the torpedo toilet in my pics. So loud it would wake someone up, I don't recall hearing anyone else's, you get use to it!:goodvibes

As we get closer to our return to WDW I get more excited with each picture and video. Thanks for posting, especially fo the poly. Mike
Thx, I took most of them strictly for this thread. I'm usually here lot more.

;)I don't partically love it, its not bad by any means, its definitely worth a try!

Just saw the info about the volcano slide. Looks like the little one and I wont be able to try this slide out. Unless they finished before the 24th of feb.

You could always ask to be upgraded... :rotfl2: (Sorry couldn't resist)

Andre

Unecessary. I saw you tried to stir the pot twice in the last 12 hours, and peole were encouraging you over on the POR thread. I thought we were all adults & moved on? Obviously not.

Hello all! My family and I are making our first visit to the Poly in June  We are a family of 5 (including 3 teenagers ), staying garden view. Since we are an older family of 5, we would like a longhouse with a good chance of a balcony for extra space, we would also prefer to have the double sinks, and we would like to be closer to the ttc than the pool. After much research on this thread as well as Tikiman's site, I think I should request Tahiti, 2nd or 3rd floor? I realize these are only requests :goodvibes Having never been there I'm not sure this is the best one to request. :confused3 I would appreciate any advice the experts can give me ;) Thanks!
