ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

This has been confirmed several times. The unit is not on a motion sensor.

"Confirmed several times", ok sorry. I don't think I need to go through all 195 pages to find this answer so I asked.

Thank you though for clearing that up.

It may not be a "motion sensor" but it is a sensor something! We just spent 8 nights there and were gone for long periods of time. When we got back to our room they were warm and upon our arrival the air kicked on..... every night. So... just saying that there is a sensor of something. Even in the middle of the night when it was dark it got warm, so I would get up and move around and it would kick on.

That's weird because our room was set to 65 and the air was always on, even during the night and when we came back from the parks. We had to raise the temp during the night.

Well besides that TaraPA just posted the how to bypass it. I may not need to. But I am about to call my friend there and ask her about if they rent Microwaves?

I believe you can request a microwave, but they have a limited number and are first come first serve. I don't think there is a charge.

Ohh cool we will call about five days out to check on reservations and to request.

I really wish I knew for sure about the AC. I do know we've never woken up or returned to a hot room, so either the motion of the fan kept the AC on, or it isn't on a motion sensor at all. If nothing else I can check it out in.... 5 days :banana::banana: and report back with my findings!

Let us know!!!!

As far as the AC goes... I have heard people ordering those stand up mickey balloons from Disney Florist and that keeps the AC because of the movement? :confused3

I want pin codes. I never get them, is there a site to register for them?

When we were in Disney in November, I was on my iPhone checking out the prices for the Contemporary or Polynesian in July. I did it a couple times, if I remember correctly. The day we got home, I checked my hotmail and there was a pin code! You basically have to show you're interested in booking by checking out prices, ordering dvds, ordering park maps, etc. At least that is what works for me. I've gotten 3 pin codes in the past year by doing that. :thumbsup2

Thanks I will try that.

No problem! Also, if Disney doesn't physically send you something in the mail or email a code to you, it doesn't mean you don't have one. We called and asked to check if we had any last summer and it turned out we had free dining. Good luck. :goodvibes

Yeah I will call them tomorrow then, thanks again for all of your help.

Does anyone have a pic of what one of these balloons looks like?

He is 4' 8" tall and an "air walker." I think it might freak me out having a Mickey that is taller than my kids walking around the room in the dark! :rotfl: He costs $29.

Where was he last trip??? He better be there the next trip :lmao: I wanted to party with Mickey :woohoo:

LOL What was that now ... punch-soaked Teri dragging Mickey down the hall yelling "Jeeves!" :rotfl2: The problem was we didn't rent the premium cabana and didn't require the services of our butler! :rotfl2:

I could pretend I had a butler :rolleyes1
:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

The punch soaked was not to far off :thumbsup2

I do hate to ask what I know has been answered somewhere ... but I can't seem to find it anywhere, even using search. :confused3

On our previous WDW visits, we got the Mickey shampoo & conditioner combo. Is this still the case, or are they separate?
I'm only asking because I have a shampoo that I will be packing tomorrow which leaves my hair much less "mousey" than Mickey's version. But I'm not picky about conditioner, so if the Poly will have the separate conditioner bottle, I won't bother packing any.
