ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

I do hate to ask what I know has been answered somewhere ... but I can't seem to find it anywhere, even using search. :confused3

On our previous WDW visits, we got the Mickey shampoo & conditioner combo. Is this still the case, or are they separate?
I'm only asking because I have a shampoo that I will be packing tomorrow which leaves my hair much less "mousey" than Mickey's version. But I'm not picky about conditioner, so if the Poly will have the separate conditioner bottle, I won't bother packing any.

There is separate shampoo and conditioner.

Have a great trip :wizard:

Can you give me a good idea what I'm in for? I'm used to going in low season. We will be at the Poly Feb 17-Feb 24

Those were our exact dates last year... We didn't think the crowds were too bad, but anything was better than our week up/through Thanksgiving before that trip...:scared1: I would say it was moderate...use of fast passes was definitely a must though!!!

We should have some more transplants from the POR Royal Refurb. They just got some calls tonight. I just want to take a minute to thanks those of you that helped me get familiar with the POLY. Just sitting here waiting for our family's magical package aka tags and stuff.

The big difference this year is mardi gras lands same week:scared1:
I'm still hoping it won't be insane, bumping into people everywhere.

I am a transplant- Feb 18th -25th

Quick questions-
Are the MK view rooms complete with balcony? And, is there a MK view building that is better than another? Or are they all in the same building?

And, do people typically swim in Feb? I think the temps would be cool- But coming from MA anything is warmer than where we are- 50 degrees is a nice day!! lol

Weather is hit or miss - we went last week of Feb last year and had 85 degrees all week. We did swim at POR. I think the Poly pool may be heated. We will be bringing our swim suits hoping for some warm weather.

So nice to see you back on the boards. I could never take the flight to Hawaii. I'd have to visit on a cruise. How long until your trip?

Happy to be back ! February 27th - March 4th 2012 in about 6 weeks. You don't understand, the flight almost made me cx the trip. I hate the idea of flying to Dallas then LAX then HNL & then drive to Aulani! One week is all we can spend in Hawaii per my hubbies work schedule & the fact that arriving & departing takes up more time than a WDW vacay is driving me nuts. If I had more time, I would also love to cruise there. :wizard:

Well first, what type of room did you get?

Not all that can see the park will have a balcony, only third floor rooms. The first floor have sliding doors with porches.

:scared1: I would need a LOT of Lapu Lapus to make that trip! :rotfl:

Tuvalu and Tahiti have TPV rooms. Tuvalu is a fairly small longhouse. It does not have balconies on the second floor, only the third (you can make a request for third floor). Tuvalu is very close to the GCH (restaurants, monorail platform, shops) & volcano pool. It has a lovely view of the GF and sometimes you can quietly hear the music from the luau (but it's not intrusive, you can't hear it inside if your door is shut). Tahiti is larger and newer and has balconies on BOTH the second & third floor. It has two sinks in the bathrooms and is close to the TTC. It is, however, more removed from the GCH & volcano pool. It really depends on what is more important to you if you plan on making a request.

Congrats on your upgrade!

Nice to see you! Hope Aulani is as awesome as the Poly :yay:

Yeah I was trying to figure out what view they had in their original reservation. Because if they didnt have a river view at POR then they most likely wont get TPV or Lagoon View at the poly.
