I am leaving for the Poly in 7 days! This trip 18 months in the making is finally here! Seems like it would never happen.

Right now I'm keeping my eyes peeled for news on the 24th. It's too bad they can't extend the free wireless just a tad longer, as we'll just be missing it. Maybe they could extend it a little longer for the Democratic convention the next week? Scary wants her free internets

My bag is 75% packed, and most of it is my costume.

Is wireless definitely ending after the final trial period date?? We are staying at the GF in December and were hoping for wireless!

I'm anxiously watching the rumors too - but wanted to just add....

Whatever renovations they do - can we PLEASE have balconies in every room!!!!!???? This single thing drives me the most crazy about my beloved Poly and was the main reason we did not stay there for our LO's first trip. DH and I need someplace to escape to for naps and early bedtimes....

This thread has been quiet today! We just returned yesterday and had a wonderful trip. For those who have trips coming up, a couple of things:

I did online check-in and got my requests. I called 11 days before and added my building request, which was Rapa Nui/ground floor. Then I did the online check-in 10 days out. When I checked-in it was about 5 o'clock and there wasn't a line for either the regular or online check-in.

I added my Undercover Tourist tickets to my KTTW. Had to go to the concierge desk to do that, which I already knew I would have to do. Took about 5-10 minutes.

I had shipped a package to the resort using UPS. Mailed it out on Monday, and it got there on Wednesday. Someone brought it to the room shortly after check-in.

When checking in I requested a microwave. It too arrived shortly after check-in. Just FYI you can get one for no charge.

The room had the new kind of coffee pot. DH reports that the coffee was fine. He doesn't normally drink hotel room coffee (in fact we had shipped some coffee down there) so it must have been good enough.

How exciting that you leave in less than a week. Have a great trip.

Where do I request a room to get the larger rooms and a balcony?

I would call CRO and have your request(s) added to your reservation. Just remember it's a request and never guaranteed. Also, try to keep your request as simple as possible. The only request that I have on my reservation is that I want the third floor.

We ship packages via UPS to the resorts all the time and it's the best thing.

Glad to hear you had a fantastic trip!!! Question about adding your tickets...normally we buy a package that includes tickets but with the military discount we can only do room and dining...we are actually buying our tickets through AAA with a slight discount...would they be able to add those to our KTTW cards. I've been annoyed by the fact that we would have to carry the KTTW and park tickets separately.

BONUS! We just booked our Grand Gathering yesterday for June 2012!!!!

Now to bite my lips so the kids don't find out until the big reveal on Xmas Eve! This will be a first trip for 7 of my nieces and nephews!!! They are so jealous every year we go and they have been begging for us to take them. Now thanks to Grandma and Grandpa they get to go....so excited to see all of their expressions. I also told my kids we weren't going back for a couple of years. They didn't even question as to why we upgraded to annual passes.

Now to keep my mouth shut.....

Booked a quick trip Jan 27, 2012 - Feb 1, 2012 taking niece and Nephew.
Went with Club Level Deluxe Dining and park hopper. Staying at the Polynesian. So excited. Niece and Nephews 1st trip my fouth.

Concerned that CM said we may not get 2 queens and a day bed. Main reason we booked there was for the beds. Have to have the 3 options. niiece is 12 nephew is 16, Me and Hubby.

Any ideas if this is really gonna be a problem? Would they really try to put us in a room without enough sleeping arrangements?

Don't worry, that CM was full of bunk. All rooms at the Poly, except maybe in the Tonga suites, have two queens and a couch that becomes a bed.

I just read the Tikiman's site, and I kind of want to cry.

I'm sure if all this comes to pass it will be lovely and grand and a great place to stay. But it won't be the same.

And the thought of not being able to eat at 'Ohana on a Disney trip for a year or so until they get everything rebuilt is HORRIFYING to me.

I love Disney World. I do. But (if) and after they tear down the Poly, at least until it's complete and re-done, this is going to push me to Universal and Sea World. I can stay on site there for cheaper and just visit the MK and Epcot. For a morning/afternoon.

Can anyone tell me what posts have discussion or recomendations on which cabanas would be best to request. We are going late February, do you think it will be too cold to think about a cabana? Or too late to book one if we decided we wanted to try? Haven't stayed at the Poly in at least 5 - 6 years. SO GLAD we are going now, hopefully before any changes are made. Thanks so much everyone!
