All Star Music FAQ thread and tips

AND if the drink stations in the food court are self serve for refillable mugs, or do you have to stand in lines! :dance3:

ASMu refurb was completed about 3 years ago.

No standing in line for drink refills. Just squeeze in with everybody else.

Thanks - nothing like being up to date - 3 years ago :rotfl:

I got mixed up reading a 5/29/10 post about the refurb so I wanted to be sure. Thanks again for clarifying

Someone had mentioned it was fairly quiet and I really have to disagree. We had 4 South American Tour Groups and a cheerleading squad staying there at the same time as us. Even in our room in the middle of the broadway section you could hear them all screaming. Just Saying :rotfl2:

YUCK! When were you there? When we were there last Sept, it was really quiet. I have heard that July is an awful time with lots of tour groups. :headache:

This can happen at any time of year and in any resort. They usually stay in the values but they do also stay at the mods....no idea about deluxe.

Weird, I thought I posted but it disappeared....

ANyway, we stayed at ASsports 2 summers ago & found out prior to arrival there was a little league tournament going on at WWS and the teams were staying at our resort  DS really wanted to stay at sports so we went ahead, got put over in the baseball section which you could perhaps equate with broadway or rock at music, we were on the third floor facing away from the pool towards the woods with the parking lot to the side. We were able to nap in the afternoons & sleep in, didn't even know the place was overrun by little leaguers until we were at the main pool & food court a few times.

So I think it depends on where your room is located, although I'm sure cheerleading groups most likely are even more lively :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Anyway, can't wait - one more month & we'll be at ASMusic our first stay at music!!!

One of my favorite things at ASMu was the cast members at the gift shop. Make sure to go down there for you birthday. Also, the piano pool is often less crowded than the guitar pool. I loved the family suites. Having two bathrooms really came in handy and speeded up our getting ready process.

We were actually there this time last year (July 1st to the 7th). The hotel itself was alright. The rooms were a little small and loosely themed, but we really only slept there, took showers and swam in the pool so it met our needs fine, we just had a ton of screaming teenagers which wasn't much fun.

That happens end of January into February. Cheerleaders galore and Brazilian tour groups.

We just stayed at ASMu for the first time 6/5-6/12. We stayed in the family suites. We were on the first floor of the Calypso building facing towards the ASMo. Our room was close to everything, but very quiet. It was close to the parking lot-- we decided to drive alot during this trip. No problem with the buses either.

We walked to the ASMo, to us the ASMu was much more family oriented. They had lots of activities around the guitar pool. The pool was crowded, but not unbearable. The weekends seemed to be when it was the most crowded.

Went to the food court a couple of times. Food was ok. We don't do the dining plan so we like to bring our own food and then eat out ocassionally. Worked out really well with the kitchenette. It was great having the two bathrooms! Also my hubby and I ended up sleeping on the pull out couch, we thought it was much more comfortable then the queen bed. We plan on staying there again in March.

Do you recall or happen to notice if ASMusic had its own buses or was it in fact the second stop after sports when going to the parks? Just curious how they're operating the buses recently - thanks!

We found this varied widely.

In the early mornings it was usually served by its own buses, but, during the middle of the day (and often at park close) it shared buses.

Thank you for replying! That sikes me out hearing it (ususally) has its own bus in the early morning  coming back from a park at closing, jimmy crack corn because I just don't care at that point :rotfl: I know I'll get "home" eventually & won't have to wait in line to get into my own bed

The stops are sports, music, movies. As the PP mentioned there are many times when the buses are not shared. It really depends of the time of year and the time of day.

We are back from our 2 stays at Music and wanted to poat what a nice time we had both trips. Our first tip we moved from Yacht Club after DH was finished with the convention. We ended up in the Country building which is further back than I like but still fine. A couple times we got off the bus at Sports and walked over the parking lot to our room. I think it was about the same distance. While there was a band back in our section they were great kids very quiet so no problems. Honestly we were happy to move back to our favorite resort and into 2 rooms from Yacht Club.

Our second trip we were with DD's dance group and were placed in the Broadway section. I like these rooms as they are quiet and closer. I was so impressed with the luggage services. On the first week I had left 2 coolers with some water and soda in them. When we asked about them upon returning from the parks our first day they told us to check our room. I didn't think they would be there as I had not even asked about them and sure enough they were in the room! I think that is just great service and very organized! Somehow they had linked them to our reservation and had delivered them with the luggage. Impressive!

Well, we wanted free dining and Pop was full,so, we are trying ASMu for the first time! We have been twice before to WDW< stayed only at Pop, hoping we will be happy at ASMu. Are there any huge differences between the two resorts?
